You can see one, kind of two here. One is below his lip, the other is on his chin. They're very faint, so they must be pretty old. I think we assume that they're from Vyrnnus beating the crap out of him when he was a kid.

Most likely. The scars look like he got them when he was young. I like scars, it shows how much a person has been through.

I don't think Kaidan ever had fun in a pool. Judging by his past, I don't think he had even a proper childhood.

Before he was discovered as a biotic, it was probably pretty normal. At least old enough for swimming.

He was too bad ass to let Vyrnuss touch him... the blade came out and Kaidan killed him... simple as that.

Perhaps Shepard is so badass that it affects others around him/her and makes them be bad ass and have bad ass scars.

Hmm let me go look at the timeline. Kaidan is 32 in ME. He was exposed to EEZO before he was born (blame Cerberus for this). Biotics where discovered

Kaidan was born in 2151, BAaT was started in 2161. So hmm yes you are right. It is poseable he might have had a good childhood but we don't know how strict his father was or how it was at home. Thanks, now I have a mental pic of Kaidan playing Marco-Polo

I agree.

Biotics set in around the onset of puberty, which is about 12-13ish? The wikia timeline says that Kaidan was born in 2151 and that Conatix hired turians in 2166. So he was about 13-14ish when he went to BAaT, then was there for 3-4 years before Conatix folded.

So those are crucial developing years spent in a boot camp setting without being able to contact his home. I'm surprised Kaidan isn't massively screwed up.

No, Vyrnus beat the crap out of him. The blade is what made his crazy energy legs kick in. =]

Is that what he says?  I always thought he said he stood up when Vyrnus hurt Rahna, Vyrnus pulled a knife and then Kaidan let loose (killing Vyrnus).

Kaidan was lucky. He just became a strong human biotic with a uber kick. Even for a L2 he is lucky. He is the only L2 Biotic knowen (well there is a rumor that one of the characters in ME2 might be a L2 or L4, but that's debated alot in her thread) that is stable. The other L2's we have seen have gone crazy or been injured.

Re: Making a Shepard.

My first game, I messed around with the face editor without much forethought and figured it was "good enough."  About halfway through the game, she started to put me in the Uncanny Valley.  I finished because I wanted to know what happened next, but my next build was much more deliberate and took me quite a while to be happy with.  ( I also screwed up her skillset, which probably didn't help.)

By the time I got to ME2, I don't know if it was the builder was improved or I knew better what I was doing, but I only had to restart once to be happy (because I wasn't paying attention and messed up the eye color).

But I've moved beyond that.  <_<

LOl. It was not bad in ME because the cutcene was like two mintues. ME2 however becomes a pain. YAY I made a cool Shepard. Later on, this Shepard sucks!!! *restart game and try to skip the longass cutscene* Fuuuuuuuuuuuu

That would be Jack, right? I don't think she would be an L2... she looks too young to be in her 30s yet. I'm not sure with Miranda's implants either. Her dad strikes me as the type that would have gotten her the best implants that weren't experimental so that he'd make sure that she didn't have a faulty piece of crap. I also assume she would have had a private asari tutor.

ok... I know better than to question fans... it's like when people start saying stuff about Samara or MORINTH and I have to put them in their place. If they fangirls say it about Kaidan... then I'll accept the judgment of the Kaidanites.

While I agree those years are crucial, you are bound to be even more screwed up when stuff like BAaT 'hits' you even younger. Jack comes to mind (but then, they really screwed her up badly).

What about poor Grunt?  He was thrust into violence right when he was born.... though Krogan development is likely different and Grunt's experience might have been a very stabilizing element.

Hm I wouldn't call Jack 'stable' to be honest. Also, some Shep backgrounds make me doubt their stability too.

I think as far as traumatized childhoods are concerned, Jack's experience takes the cake.

But back to Kaidan, he did spend his teen years away from his family. Essentially, he left home as a child and came back as an adult. His family probably didn't understand him though they probably tried to. The picture I get is a very lonely, depressed older teen.

Plus I beleive Kaidan and his father had a fallout for awhile like Handel and his father did. Handel gives us a huge look on what the hell happen there, but I think Kaidan and his father patched thins up.
