Anyway, back to the Kaidan...

I ought to have the next chapter of Only By a Few Seconds out soon. I just have to wrap up a scene with Liara and Shepard and it should be good to go :)

Oh Yes Fort, that would be most... Wonderful!!!Posted Image

Loyalty Mission... hmmmm - in search of Strawberries and Cream...Yes that could work.

Kaidan: Shepard I need to talk to you!
Shepard: Ok.. shoot.
Kaidan: I know that you know that I love you but I will only love you if you go and do this mission with me.
Shepard:

Well, okay, you might have a point in that with the ME2 LIs your relationship is just getting started, so it's different than it would be in Kaidan's case where there's an already-established relationship and history.  But knowing Bioware, if they want to give Kaidan a loyalty mission, they will, regardless.  I think it's especially likely since Kaidan, Ash, and Liara were the three that did not have personal sidequests in ME1.

But Kaidan's sidequest had better not have anything to do with BAaT and/or Rahna because that would spoil the point in ME1 that he's practically the only male LI in Bioware games that doesn't have issues of some sort.

This. Thisthisthisthisthis.

If they do a BAaT/Rahna mission for him, I will be an angry person.

I don't like the idea of loyalty missions to begin with. Sidequests, yes... but not a mission that you must complete or the character will lose all semblance of focus and mess the mission up.

I'd think that Ash and Kaidan would be very capable of stowing their issues and doing their job properly.

I agree; I think that's one of the things that most bothered me about the loyalty missions in ME2.

I never understood that about Mirana or Garrus.  They seem way to professional to have those sort of things happen.  Also... many of the characters should already be loyal because of what Shepard did for them when he/she first recruits them.

What I'd like is NEW information regarding Kaidan's past, if they're giving him a side mission in ME3; something to do with a family member, an old co-worker from the Alliance, or someone he knew during the time between BAaT and joining the military.  Just not rehashing the small part of his life we were privy to in the first game.

He can have a side mission without giving him hang ups or past trauma, by having him need to help someone from the above list.  It would be cool if we could get to know that sort of stuff about him without it being mission related, but I don't have much hope for indepth conversations like that in ME3.

Kaidan's "loyalty" mission if Kaidan your LI:

Purchase sexy lingerie and perform a sexydance. The only way you can fail this mission is by purchasing and wearing granny panties while dancing to the hamster dance song.

Garrus' and Tali's didn't seem as much as loyalty quests as they were "let's just get this crap out of the way" quests. You can ****** Tali off on hers anyways, and hers also ties in more with the main story.

Yes, I would like this.  Especially the family member thing... we hear practically zero about his family besides that his father was in the Alliance and retired before the start of the First Contact War.  Oh, and that he lives in Vancouver.  I don't really want Bioware to give him family issues but it would be nice if he would talk about them the way Ash talks about her parents and her sisters.

I'm against the idea of a loyalty mission, but if it has to be something, then either proving loyalty to the Alliance or by helping Kaidan with a family/friend issue would be good, like others have said.

As to why Kaidan doesn't talk about his family, I get the impression that they're very distant because they simply don't understand him. That and he was at BAaT for about three years and he wasn't allowed to talk to his family in that time.

So he left as a boy and came back as an older teen that had been beaten and accidentally killed someone. That's a recipe for a void.

if a loyalty mission, then it might as well have something to do that happened during the two years when Shep was dead. I mean, Kaidan was promoted and sent to do secret missions. I'd like the idea of helping him with some secret stuff and all...

I think that's a very likely scenario, but it's never explicitly stated.  I'd just like to see some sort of explicit discussion of his family situation... is his father still alive?  Does Kaidan have siblings?  What about his mother?  How is his relationship with his family?  I mean, at this point all of that is undetermined and while the freedom that allows when exploring the subject in fanfiction is wonderful, I'd rather we not have to guess.

I don't think he has any other siblings, but if he does, I can see him not knowing about it. Just my guess.

Hi Aslan!

While I wouldn't mind learning more about Kaidan's family, I'd like to see a quest that leave him having to make some difficult choices as well. He was pretty clear that his loyalties lie with the Alliance and was pretty unpleasant about Shep's williness to save humanity not matter what. Perhaps it's his turn to find himself in that spot....and let Shep be the one to get him out of it. for example in one of the Cerberus missions you were able to pick up some intel that is "potentially damaging to the Alliance." I wouldn't mind a mission that makes Kaidan a little more openminded.....

Star, I would love this idea...

Something like that was running through my mind, too. It really  would be awesome to have Shep helping him out of some kind of trouble like that... :D
