Anyways, there does seem to be a pattern for Bioware in male love interests having a previous attraction or relationship - but in this case it was, as pointed out, nothing serious and never really got far (if it really got anywhere).

The only reason I brought it up was because it's one of the most common things said by the 'Kaidan is a whiner posse' I just think if R did die we'd get a sudden resurgence of those folk going 'I told you so!' and even though we know it's utter garbage I'd rather avoid the hassle and just have her quietly slip into oblivion somewhere

So if Shepard is an N7 and Ashley is a B4, what's Kaidan?  (As I understand, it's never been disclosed, but for the sake of discussion, what would you say it was?)

Well prob N also but a lower number? Maybe N6 as he's one rank below Shep in ME1?

Where is it stated that Ashley is B4?

I don't know if Kaidan is N as well. Lower rank doesn't necessarily mean lower N-level. 1-7

Kaidan -  Rahna and Citadel Doc. (Dunno why people get so worked up about it. Rahna was before he knew Shep and Doc was when he thought she was dead for over 2 years, tried to get a life again.)

Thane - Dead wife and estranged, troubled son.

Garrus - "We, ah... held a tie breaker in her quarters..."

Carth - Dead wife and estranged son with problems.

Jacob - "She... deserves a better man than I."@Miranda
"Shepard... the priiiize..."@Shep

Kelly -  Er.. does this count? If it does I don't think I have much else to say.

Liara seems like the only one where you were the first person she seemed to care for, I think.
Unless you wanna get into Dragon Age and talk about Zevran, Alistair, Leliana and Morrigan.

Just to expand upon this a bit:

(from the "girls against carth syndrome group"):

Neverwinter Nights: Aarin Gend killed his girlfriend and angsted over it.

Jade Empire: Sky had a dead wife and daughter he angsted over.

Neverwinter Nights: HotU: Valen had an ex that was killed tragically just to torture him.

Dragon Age: Zevran has a tragically killed ex he is angsty over.

Compared to these (and this may have been your point), Rana is basically inconsequential and absolutely insignificant. I don't think there was ever a relationship between the two. So yea.

In a wiki, I'll try and find the link.

As for letter it was a guess but as the ship is supposed to be full of the best soldiers I would have put Kaidan in SF, the number if not related to rank I would guess lower still as Shep is recognised for something major whether it be Elysium/Tofan/the other one.

Here, at the Mass Effect website.  She gets a whole profile.

I'm not sure Kaidan would be an N6, though I do think his proficiency would be higher than Ash's and lower than Shepard's.  He might be an N, but I get the impression that maybe he has a different vocation entirely.

... also, this page needs more Kaidan.

Oh, dear. I never played Jade Empire but seriously. Awful.
Yeah that was part of my point. Rahna isn't so much a big deal. Teenager had a crush on girl, girl may or may not of had crush back. Happens all the time. If Rahna does for some reason show up in ME3, I don't think a Shepard vs. Rahna will begin. If it does in that sense, I will eat my hat.

well we only have to look at real life. most people have someone in their past like that. I don't see what should be so wrong with that. I actually like that. I don't think bringing Rhana back, would be a good idea. Not for the entire jealousy stuff, but it wouldn't make ANY sense regarding the story. Just my two cents on that.

Bringing R. back into the current ME storyline would put too much soap into the space opera methinks.

I'd be afraid for Rahna if they decided to bring her into the next game.

thanks for the link.
and I agree on the rest. I do think, he's  different vocation entirely as well. Seeing that Anderson and Shep are N7's I don't see Kaidan to be like the at all.

And honestly, I wish there was more info on the entire Vocations as well...

I don't think it's so much that some love interests had previous relationships or attractions, but more so that they talk about them and how they talk about them. Kaidan is a good example of how to do them right, IMO. He talks about her but nothing major going on there. He had a crush on her - which is fine. That's basically how far it went.

For examples of what may not be so good, I would take Thane for example - he basically says that his dead wife had perfect "sunset colored eyes" and other similarly divine features. It's good that he was happy with his wife, but listening to how great Thane's dead wife is may not be compelling to all players.

There's also that recurring estranged/dead child thing that's been done 3 times in Bioware male love interest romances.

I want Sheploo to be a LI in Mass Effect 3. I don't see why he shouldn't be.
I would also like to romance myself.

Solving my own personal problems on my own, eating a steak dinner. Stuff like that.

It'll be my poor US Navy hat since it's the only hat I own. :(

I'm 50/50 whether they'll do it or not. No for the sake it'll turn more into a soap opera(my mom has asked me think many times she's seen me playing the games)

Yes because that seems like his screwed up, let's fix you and dismiss everything you said in the first game motivation for a loyalty mission!

okay, I really can´t do that to you... I´m not  a mean person... :innocent:

I really don´t believe we`ll see her...  lol ... Just imagine ME3 in "GENERAL HOSPITAL" Style....*giggles*
I don´t want a loyal mission for him, but maybe something where he´s involved...

I don't really see the point of "loyalty missions" for ME3 either if we have the same crew from the game before. Especially for Garrus and Tali.

A "look, I'm trying to stop the Reapers. I'm not against the Alliance." mission would probably happen.

In my case I saved the base and stayed with Cerberus, excited to see how that will play out instead of telling Timmy to screw off.

I'm kinda hoping that there are no loyalty missions in ME3.  :?
