Well, frankly I am not at all attracted to Thane. All my ME2 Sheps have remained faithful to Kaidan in fact. 

Thane kinda snuck up on me during my first playthrough.  I was still in shock over Horizon and he was able to worm his way in.  But in hindsight, I'd rather give him a single Shep, which is why I'm deleting that save and replaying ME1, while trying so very hard to resist Kaidan.  In the end, it's kinder to both of them even if it sucks for me right now. 

From a RPing perspective, it was easier for me to have my second Shep "move on" with Garrus.  She's a Renegon and chose the neutral/renegade responses on Horizon.  She didn't get the "I loved you" from Kaidan, so that made it more logical to assume that while she cared for him, it wasn't as serious. 

My poor 'canon' Mel Shepard is faithful 'til the end and she'd better get her reward in ME3.

I just started a single FemShep for Thane in ME2 ....weeeeeeee ^.^

As for the ranking stuff.....personally I do believe that IF Shep is gonna be re-instated with the Alliance, that they won't just re-instate her as Lieutenant Commander but also promote her to Staff Commander. Seeing that Kaidan was "only" LT before AND also seeing her achievements during the entire Saren/Sovereign battle, it would ONLY be fair if she got at LEAST the same rank Kaidan has.

So since Kaidan won't be outranking her, they can keep the love story going. That's how I see it.

I hope, it doesn't hit you guys We don't have any hurricanes over here so I have no idea how that feels. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything is going to be alright.

We're on the dirty side.  It's hit our state already.  The actual eye hit just south of the Mexico/US border, but the bands of rain and wind that follow hit us here in Houston.  We got the dirty side.

My only hurricane experience was landing at DFW, just as Ike hit as a tropical storm.  Good times.

Even though I live in Seattle, I can't stand rain.  However, now I can't shake the image of Kaidan kisses in the rain.  Perhaps precipitation isn't always a bad thing.

Ok, I guess I can put my 2 cents worth in on the questions too

1) Do you think he's an only child? - yes I do.  I think he would have mentioned brothers/sisters otherwise.
2) Dog or cat person? - I lean more towards dogs or Jaer's horses (PS Jaer - I take no responsibility for images that may or may not be in your head, lol)
3)Do you think he was as reserved and careful before BAaT? - I think he's always been reserved but BAat made him more so
4) Do you think he kept in contact or has met anyone from BAaT after its closure? - No, I think it was too painful at the time and he would have been too worried about how the others would react to him.  I think he would have wanted to distance himself from anyone connected with BAat.
5) What do you think his commendations were before being assigned to the Normandy? - No idea and it one of my pet peeves that we know so little about him and this aspect of his career
6) In spite of his reservations with Shepard, do you think he's a reasonably outgoing guy with others? - I think he gets on well with the others but doesn't open up about himself.  Chakwas commented that he tends to keep to himself, & he comments that he might need to lighten up a little.  I think he sees the benefits of a close knit team though
7) What do you think happened between him and Joker after the Normandy SR-1's destruction? - I think they would have had a falling out, no major fight but guilt & grief would have prevented them from having too much to do with each other, then I think Kaidan would have thrown himself into work as the team drifted apart and were seperated by the Alliance.
8) Do you think his current assignments are coming from Admiral/Councilor Anderson? - I think Anderson or Hackett have him carrying on Shepard's work and looking for signs of the reapers
9) Football (Soccer) fan? - only in passing
11) Do you think his next reunion with Shepard will start with tension or relief? - both, but it depends on the choices Shep made (not that we'll see that in game).  I think it will also depend on how Shep is welcomed back by the council and Alliance
12)What role do you think he'll play in ME3? - hopefully a squadmate.  I lean more towards Alliance liaison and hope they haven't gone the spectre route with him
13) Do you think he's a career Alliance military man, sticking with it until retirement? - Yes, but depending on whether he & Shepard get back together and how she is treated.  He's much harder now than he was in ME1 so I can see him following Shepard if they get back together and if the council/Alliance refuse to see the threat.
14) Do you think he'd have whatever the future version of a sweet car is? - No
15) Do you think he has his favorite childhood stuffed animal hidden away somewhere still? - no stuffed animals but maybe some well read books
16) Do you think any biotic powers transfer to the children in some way? - maybe with time and evolution.  I don't know if its possible for biotics to have children, don't know the effects of exposure on that aspect of things
17) Kaidan: destined for fatherhood? - he'd make a good father but once again not sure if either he or Shep could have kids, but they could adopt.  (My Shep's are always biotics so that coupled with the Cerberus rebuild may pose a problem in getting pregnant)
18)Do you think that, time permitting, he still calls his mother every Sunday? - no.  I think he stays in contact but I don't see it as a regular weekly thing.  I think there was a bit of separation there after BAat and I think his military career and commendations may have helped but I don't see them as being close.
19)Do you think that panel he kept working on in ME1 was the tv? - it gives him access to those extranet fetish sites he knows about, plus lets him stay close to Shepard and the mess.
20) Do you think Kaidan would find an evening at the opera a good time? - no.  I think he'd prefer a dim lit out of the way jazz place

I was thinking of that too, my brother was telling me the same, Shepard  has too many things so if she returns to the alliance she will have to be promoted!!
But I don't know about this, if thay have the same rank, the fraternization rule doesn't aply to them? (Sorry don't know anything about the army/navy...)
