I like to cater to fan-request sometimes. If I was that good i would do it. Hell if i was Monty Oum  (He is the guy who took the chicks from Dead or Alive and Final Fantasy and did those fighting segments. Should do it...it's called Dead Fantasy) I would do it. I don't even care if i make a profit off of it. I'd be like here Kaidan-lover, a free slightly fan-serviced scene for ya! GO~!

Re: ME2 romances

I think my overall problem with the ME2 romances was a matter of reciprocation.  With Garrus, he clearly respected Shepard but it is implied that he never thought her that way until she suggests they skip straight to getting laid some time.  With Thane, he's caught up in his philosophy/memories and the convo wheel pulls the "I want you" line out of nowhere (nice to be honest, I guess).  With Jacob, it seems that he's clearly not interested/thinks Shepard is trying to get something out of him - and he's happy to play along until she gets bored of trying.  Although, I had little problem with Shepard's "let's talk" line mainly because it's said in a similar tone to her "we're just talking... you have a problem with that?" line with... whatever salarian wanted scan the keepers in the first game.

With Kaidan, there was at least some semblance of mutual attraction going on if you decided to flirt with him.  It wasn't a one-sided thing on Shepard's part that she had to push to get what she wanted.

I don't think he'd have pursued the relationship if he were.

Yeah... there are indicators he's lying to himself or really just plain uncomfortable.  But this ain't the place for that.

The actual line Shepard says is, "I'm here for you, Thane.  Whatver you need."  Much better than the prompt.

I suppose they wanted the romance trigger to be all neon lights and pointy arrows so no one would miss it.  But they really should've chosen something else.  Especially during that particular conversation.


EDIT:  Getting back on topic...  Since I'm on my first ME1 playthrough where I won't be romancing Kaidan, is there a way to avoid the romance without choosing the renegade responses?  I don't want to be a b****, but I also don't want to lead him on just to have to turn him down later.

@Joi (from many pages back): My muse ran away for several days. I think she needed a break from the twisted, angstiness of my story, so that's how I got time to beat Insanity... however, she is back at work, so hopefully will have something by the end of the weekend. Kaidan just has to be patient in between my D&D games tonight and tomorrow.

... but not the dumping him, one.  And I don't remember which one it is.  (... 'though you could do what everyone else apparently does and blow him up?)

My single-shep just did that, and he sounds so offended and it sucks to have conversations end with "Commander".

I don't know if my memory is just bad, but I don't remember particularly being a jerk to Kaidan to turn him down (note that when I did this, I was on my "no romance Shepard"). She was given the mixed signals talk, she just said she wasn't interested and I don't think Kaidan was offended or anything.

I just started a single FemShep for Thane in ME2 ....weeeeeeee ^.^
As for the ranking stuff.....personally I do believe that IF Shep is gonna be re-instated with the Alliance, that they won't just re-instate her as Lieutenant Commander but also promote her to Staff Commander. Seeing that Kaidan was "only" LT before AND also seeing her achievements during the entire Saren/Sovereign battle, it would ONLY be fair if she got at LEAST the same rank Kaidan has.
So since Kaidan won't be outranking her, they can keep the love story going. That's how I see it.

I was thinking of that too, my brother was telling me the same, Shepard  has too many things so if she returns to the alliance she will have to be promoted!!
But I don't know about this, if thay have the same rank, the fraternization rule doesn't aply to them? (Sorry don't know anything about the army/navy...)

The fraternization rule would still apply but at least Kaidan wouldn't have an excuse that she is his subordinate if she's got the same rank. after all, he never had a problem doing what they were doing in her cabin, on the bed......when she was still his commanding officer......back on normandy 1....when life was still easy because they were only fighting Saren and some Geth and that sucky Sovereign dude.......sorry got a bit carried away there lol.



Just stopped playing ME2 for today....I think I need a break. I'm kinda stuck because I don't wanna do the Horizon mission lol. Even though I am playing a single Shep this time, I just KNOW that it is going to suck hamster balls...:crying::crying:.

But, the activate romance dialogue is chosen with "I want you Thane".
