The way I see this playing out in the game is Jack as being an offensive Kaidan, and Kaidan as a defensive Jack if Kaidan is recruitable in ME3. You get what Im saying?

On the topic of Cerberus clothing... I don't know who thought that logos were a good idea.

And an angry Kaidan for the topic at hand.

Kaidan's alliance biotic training thing started AFTER Jack shut down that Cerberus facility, not before. That I know for sure. The rest gets foggy after that.

Where are you getting that information because I always thought Jack was several years younger than Kaidan.

There was a discussion going on a few hours ago in the Jack thread as to who would win in a fight... Kaidan or Jack. Jack fans (a majority) came to the conclusions that Jack would win. I'm interested to see if the Kaidan fans would come to the conclusion that Kaidan would win. Formulate and discuss!

Kaidan would lose. He has the L2 or L1 implants right? The one that makes him stronger than most Biotics but has severe backdraws?  Well, Jack has the L5 implants, almost as strong or as strong as those Im guessing. AND that only enhances her biotics. AND she was the precursor to Kaidan's training thing as a child with the Turian he killed.  Im not sure who'd win, but Jack has RAW Power on her side. She is leaps and bounds ahead of Kaidan in that sense.

Kaidan's biotic training started when he was in his teens.  Jack would be like 5 or 6 at the most.  BAAT wasn't run by the alliance... it was run by Konatix.  Kaidan's biotic training started before Jack's biotic training... and it is likely that Jack wasn't brought to Teltin unitl right before or right after BAAT was shut down.

I can't really say who would win it. To be honest, since Shep is the hero of the game, she/he would out-biotic all of them so screw this whole convo. I don't see where the point of it is anyway. It's obviously just another way of starting another pointless discussion trying to make one fanbase angrier than the other just so they bash each other's favorite character in game. not a thing I want to join lol. Besides, I do believe, that Jack and Kaidan would get along very well since Kaidan didn't have a sunshine-daisies-butterflies-time @ braincamp either so they both would have something to talk about. In the end, all this is a matter of respect towards Shep and seeing that both, hell everyone, have lots of respect for Shep, they would just STFU so they don't make life harder for her/him. Just my two cents on this...

Oh yes, that's always fun.

He was handpicked(?) to be on the Normandy for a reason, just as Jack was. His implants have an awful kickback but ain't no pushoever. Jack's biotics are stronger than his, I think it was made pretty clear that she is the strongest known human biotic.
Brute strength and awesome raw power aren't all the matter and seal the deal. The situation just depends.
Either could beat the other but in the end, they are both awesome.
Heck, Kaidan vs Garrus and I'd still be stumped.

Shepard stepped out of the elevator, the sound of her heels clicking on the warship's sturdy metal floors. For the first time in a long time, she felt like an actual woman. With each step, her movements felt less robotic and more organic.

She was a beautiful, sexual creature; she hadn't felt this way since Kaidan.

At first, Shepard had resisted the dress and the fussy heels that came with it. There were better, more utilitarian pieces of clothing in her closet that were more suited to her station.

She remembered the day that she made the switch to the dress. She'd finished a shower, her heart burdened with the troubling knowledge that this time, she wouldn't have some of the most important people in her life by her side. Shepard opened the door to her closet to select her outfit and paused. The glaring Cerberus logo on each outfit stared her down, accused her and reminded her of her consistent failures to communicate with people she should have been open and honest with.

The Cerberus outfits flew across the room to smack against the wall. Sighing, the Commander looked into her closet once more and considered her options: a burlap sack and a leather dress.

From then on, Shepard and the dress became friends. It was silly how a dress could make her feel good, but damn it, she needed any scrap of happiness she could take.

She felt a rare smile work its way onto her face as she approached Garrus' station. The door opened automatically for her to reveal Garrus, Jacob, Ken, and other assorted male crew members.

"Shepard!" Jacob smiled, "It's good to see you. We were just all hanging out in this small room."

"I noticed," Shepard murmured, "Any reason why you're all in here right now?"

"None, Commander," Garrus replied. He couldn't look her in the eye.

"How about you sit down?" Ken asked. "Those shoes don't look that comfortable."

Shepard nodded. Ken was right; the shoes were awful on the balls of her feet, but she wouldn't give them up for the world.

And so, Shepard sat on the crate like she always had.

The room fell silent, the Commander oblivious to the way she sat.

OMG Fort (Afternoon by the way!!) I had no idea where you were going with this, so I almost choked to death!!!

ROTFLMAO

As far as dates and ages are concerned, ME2 doesn't mention any dates of when the Teltin facility was destroyed, except that they're moving to the Ascension project during the attack, which was started in 2176. So, one can conclude that the facility was destroyed in 2176.  Kaidan was born in 2151. He was 25 when the Ascension program started and in the same year, Jack escaped. This is the same year that the attack on Elysium happened. That puts their ages and experience levels into perspective.

And who says Kaidan hasn't had to fight to survive? He's a soldier with over a dozen commendations. He's been hand picked for the Normandy crew along with Shepard. He's got biotic and tech skills and medicine skills; clearly he's not stupid. And in the course of two years, he's received two promotions and technically outranks Shepard in the Alliance.

So Kaidan isn't just a run of the mill soldier; he's exceptionally gifted.

Edit: I don't want to get into a pissing match, but I do have to take exception at the folks that claim that Kaidan is nothing special.

Hiya Jane! Your paintballing afternoon sounds like a lot of fun. :)

I don't think Jack and Kaidan would get along. I don't think Jack gets along with anyone; she's learned she can't trust anyone and is far too paranoid about people (for good reason) to be  anyone's bud.  At the same time, I suspect they would tolerate each other. She has no reason to hate him in the way she hates Miranda and certainly she tolerates the rest of the ME2 team even if she doesn't want to hang out with them.

I agree with you that it's a fairly pointless comparison  though because unless something changes, Kaidan and Jack would largely be on the same side in a fight with the Reapers.  And Kaidan has a lot of other skills besides tech and biotics. He wouldn't have been promoted to Staff Commander without the ability to think and act strategically and diplomatically as well fight. Posted Image

Well, only Samara's and Jack's barriers are any help against swarms.

As far as Cmdr. Alenko being nothing special, we're hit over the head in both ME1 & 2 with how rare a functioning L2 is, especially one who bothered to learn other things.

I still think we're going about this the wrong way.  The point of the Jack/Shepard (Paragon) romance is that a stable and caring guy can get past her defenses.  Kaidan, according to himself, like "adventurous women" and she'd understand his biotic nature or whatnot.  I mean, provided neither is romancing Shepard at the time...

... I'm missing the point of "who would win in a fight," aren't I?  :?

@FireEye - I still say that Shepard would break up the fight by shooting them both in non-vital areas and then telling Garrus to clean up the mess. Then she would turn to Tali and sigh, 'What is it with Biotics and their who's better than who contests?'

Of course she would take Kaidan to her cabin to kiss his wound better...

I don't think they would fight.  I just don't think they would be buds.  Posted Image

As to the Jack/Shep romance - yes, that's what Bioware seems to imply but then again, in regards to the romances, it feels like the writing team took the Joseph Campbell story formula, threw in a little Psych 101  and stopped there.  I don't  dislike Jack but I also get the impression she's not looking to really understand anyone. She's got her view of the world and it's pretty narrow. I understand why she'd feel/view things that way, but she's pretty rigid --a normal response for one with her life story but it doesn't provide much opportunity for empathy or understanding for others views.
