Anyway, I hope Kaidan's ME3 romance has more kissing/pda types of things. After all, the regs don't apply to them anymore so I say they should do it.

Initially, I didn't think FShep would have the romance option with Jacob. I figured he would be with Miranda (haven't read the comic, but I think something was mentioned about them being in a relationship). Of course, later we find out that they /had/ been in a relationship and broke it off.

EDIT:  @ fort...right there with you on the Kaidan romance in ME3!

Here's my opinion on Jacob's romance. Similarly to Liara's, the romance starts too fast and before a real emotion and romantic connection can be formed. Secondly, F!Shepard's come ons are, well, very sexual. There's like 4 ways to start the Jacob romance in his second conversation, and they are all sexual (some more than others). Also the fact of the change in tone in her voice.

Jacob actually isn't bad here (in the second conversation) in that his reactions to F!Shepard coming on to him are awkward and funny in a good way.

After that, Jacob insists that they take everything slow and keep everything casual. However, if you break up with him, he is enraged. While I can understand other romance interests being pissed off if you break up with them, someone who specifically says that they want to keep everything casual should not act like he did.

Jacob also gets majorly pissed if you try to help him with his father. He insists that he has no issues to speak off (because super anti-baggage man or something and cannot display feelings) and he'll dump you and tell you to go talk to Garrus (wat) if you try to help him. After that, he doesn't want to talk to you anymore.

His romance scene, of course, is horrible in almost everyway. There's some eyecandy for the ladies (although not all ladies will agree it's eye candy) but that's about all that could be considered "goo" about it.

Jacob's romance has at least 4 kisses, and one instance of holding hands, as well as the most explicit and direct romance scene besides Miranda (in ME2) (unless you count renegade sex with Jack, but that isn't a romance, that's just sex). As well as other exclusive things that other romances do not have. Ironic - he ends up being the least popular romance interest of all.

This. The Garrus line made me confused but I did figure my Shep does suit him more.

@ collider: huh. i have never romanced anyone but kaidan, so i didn't realize how involved (?) jacob's was. i imported my poor, head-case spacer/sole surivivor/soldier for garrus, but dang, much as i love the guy, i just wasn't interested in any romance but kaidan's.

even in phoenix armor.

which, btw, i only knew what phoenix because my 1st playtrhough was with a maleshep so ash was alive. then i imported my femshep and was like...wait... they didn't change the armor? 

or the motion capture, for that matter. when ash dodges that one guy, it looks  sort of normal. when kaidan does it, it looks girly. i just keep thinking, "that's ashley moving there, not kaidan."

oh, edit: i came here for a reason. updating some of my old chapters in case anyone cares. this one now has some answers about miranda's underwear that have been confusing me for  a while now...

I think the Phoenix Armor is ridiculous in general. White and pink? Isn't Ashley an alliance soldier? Did she personally request white and pink armor? Anyway - I already know the reason. They thought it was feminine.



Not like Kaidan and Ashley were the only ones wearing it. Liara also wears the phoenix armor in that scene. It seems they structured the scene around Ashley and then just kind of body switched her with Kaidan and Liara. That, or someone stole Liara and Kaidan's armor.

I tried starting a new playthrough in ME1 where I wouldn't romance Kaidan, but I just couldn't do it. I have to romance him. Even just going up to him and him saying "I've wasted enough of your time for now, Commander. We'll have time for personal debriefings later" (or something like that), I get all excited and happy. Yeah...I'm weird.

not weird. i am with you. once you start talking with him, you just can't STOP talking to him (that voice!) and then when he starts being all sweet... daaawww....

yeah, this is the place for can't stop talking to --> romancing kaidan.

I agreed completely. I always thought Kaidan was a calm person. It's really weird to see him saying what he did on Ilos. I have never not saved Kaidan, so Ashley and Kaidan really have the same lines pre-Ilos? Wow.

So I see. I'm not much of a Twilight person but I do like Jacob.
Reward will most likely be extra dialogue, nothing more. Cheating will probably result in cut short, crap dialogue and a fight.
Just please, no "Okay, Shepard. You have to choose between me and him."
 - ESPECIALLY if you imported a Shep that already went through that with Liara even if you choose Kaidan. He must not get that blaring hint if he does that again

Oh yeah! I had forgotten about pre-Ilos. I was also very surprised that he was very adamant that they wouldn't be able to get the Mako anywhere near Saren. He was very negative in that whole conversation.

I actually like everyone on board...even Miranda now on my second playthrough, since she's opened up a bit more. Kinda missed out on that on my first run. Yet, the Jacob romance is just weird. Garrus is a sweet buddy, I adore him but still, it's weird. Mordin? ugh, no! not my type! oh SO NOT my type. Thane this time, like I've said so many times before. I still think that his romance is the one that's detailed out the best way. The talking and how it starts....just sweeeeeeeeeeeeet. ^.^

Still can't wait to get Kaidan back in ME3 for Shayenne. She is so lonely.

Must say, those salarian dock workers on Thane's recruitment were adorable...in a very awkward point of view way.

@pink armor... I don't know. Maybe they had a bet going on right before and he lost? sure. I can see that.

No excuse for the Default-to-Ashley in ME2, but it's... disturbingly deep in the production.

poor jacob. i actually just got a convo with him i'd never seen. stopped by right after getting on board the normandy and chose the neutral option "I think we're two of a kind" (re cerberus) and it was so...normal. it made me like jacob. too bad i'm going to be avoiding him for the rest of the trip to avoid my shep turning ooc into a desperate cougar woman.

Jacob is good if you don't romance him, as a "buddy" character. I think Garrus is still the better "buddy," but Jacob's really not bad if you're M!Shepard or a F!Shepard that manages to avoid flirting with him.

Right up until the point where he accused her of trying to get into his pants and manipulate him, at which point we said, "Yeah, okay... bye now!"

He redeemed himself a bit once he got stuck in that "We are friends now, drunk later!" loop.

It is an especially notable change considering games in which he just got laid.  Shouldn't he be... I dunno, more relaxed?  (Unless we take that, "I can't stand losing you" bit and apply it against an "Okay, we're gonna make a risky drop in which we might not survive" and the fact that not everyone takes him on the final run... maybe?)

The mako drop was extremely risky; both Ash and Kaidan knew that the drop was practically suicide. So, I think the yelling was merited...

Unfortunately, there's very little Joker - an early render of Shepard talking to him like in the game (where not much is changed), and this:


Note the pink/red and white collar.  Ashley, Kaidan, and Anderson all have similar face sketches, all have the same collar.

Some (fewer) of the vehicles have a similar color scheme.  Earlier, someone suggested that it might have originally been red and white and got changed to pink for Ash (maybe because it is supposed to be feminine, I don't know).  So either it's easy to draw, or someone enjoyed the color scheme.

i think he's still pissy that joker interrupted them. he was hoping for another go.
