Same goes for me - only for me it's Liara instead of Kaidan and Jack instead of Thane ;-)J4N3_M3 wrote...
even on my second PT I will remain faithful to Kaidan. I just created a new single character for Thane so that doesn't count as cheating. Not because I felt bad due to Horizon but because Thane is so damn AMAZING! ^.^
@Collider....I liked Liara's romance more than Kaidan's and not just because she's my favourite character (if you can believe that^^). All three are good, though.

It annoys me that we can't save any of the colonists, especially after that email that implies Kaidan may have been telling them we would. <_<

I think I'm one of the minority here that actually doesn't enjoy watching Lilith getting smoothied.
But I also don't think that there was anything to get jealous over while watching the opening Horizon scene. Of course, I don't think being interested in Kaidan is grounds for death. I mean, I can't blame women if they find my Kaidan attractive. It's not like they stand a chance compared to Shepard.

I have to say too, that i didn't enjoy seeing people get smoothied. my first playthrough it was kelly. yes i did wait too long and got scolded at by Chakwas. not sure i liked the idea of seeing lillith get smoothied either. even if she did try to make a move on shep's man, does she deserve that fate?
as for the best me1 romance, i do like Kaidans as it does seem to build from mutual respect. i have to admit that i've never tried ashley's, i had a male shep who went with liara. i felt with liara's romance that it was a little too direct and fast paced.
anyway, thanks jilly, sage, urban, jaer and night for the recent fan fic updates.

Best ME1 Romance <-- Which ME1 romance do you think was best written, best paced, or best made?
That's a tricky question for me: because I've never played any male char in ME not tried to be more than friends with Liara - I even have problems friendzoning her lately - I try to be nice and she's all about the "I think there's something special between us" thing. Maybe Polish subtitles are so screwed up? I never noticed, in ME Polish translation is really good (in opposite to ME2 where the dialogue wheel context is just messed up, you never know what the hell you're gonna respond).
I guess in Liara's case I'd be like Kaidan - "Yeah, but you look...". Uh. And should I add I'm straight?
In Ashley's case - like I said, I never play male characters if I can choose my toon gender in games. I play males only if I have no real choice, and the game seems to be great for me - last time it was Ashley Riot in Vagrant Story. and I guess Zidane from FF9 (this way I've never played great games like PoP, MGS latter than PS1 one, or Assassin's Creed). There was time when I played a lot of jrpg's and it had no real meaning to me, but it changed later.
Then again I 've never watched any videos of Liara/Ash romance - I was never interested in that.
So my voice in that poll wouldn't have any greater sense - but I thought you may want to know why.

One of the reasons I find Kaidan's romance to be the best is that it's a slow, gradual work up. Both Ashley and Liara seem a bit more aggressive in their romance approaches where Kaidan is feeling out the path - so to speak. He makes it clear that he's interested once Shep assures him that the signals are there, and the flirtation and connection slowly grows from that. It's like a slow burn.
I think the night before Ilos scene is what does it in for me. Kaidan makes it clear that he's not interested in something casual, and with both of them being officers, fraternization is a very serious charge. But, beyond that, with the impending possibilities of what was about to come, nothing mattered other than getting that night with Shepard. The words he says there... wow.
I just never quite got the same feel from the other two romanes.

I didn't see anyone getting smoothied. Yet I don't see the point of Lilith getting smoothied either. I mean, Shep is competitive to the core but she would respect Kaidan's choice if he chose any woman over her. I mean, after all that's what I love about Kaidan. He is not a guy that just dumps everyone because Shep says so. He has is own head to think and his own ideals. I like that in men in general. I wouldn't want a guy that just says and does as I want him to. So if Lilith was flirting with him, that wouldn't be a reason for my Shep to be all jealous and stuff. She's not a jealous person in general. If Kaidan chose someone like Lilith, of course it would hurt Shep, but she wouldn't become spiteful and mean, she would just respect it and try to get over it to move on.

My paragon Shep is haunted by the fact that she stood there like a zombie and didn't try to do anything until it was too late.
