So I really don't think that Kaidan was assigned to Spectre, but I just heard something on the Citadel that makes me wonder.  On one of Emily Wong's news stories, she says something about the Council denying claims that they had assigned a Spectre to investigate Horizon.

:blink:Okay, I don't know what to say but if that turns out to be true...woah...it is a femshep playthrough right...with Kaidan alive?

I always thought they were talking about Shep, of course I always take Spectre status again and as you're unofficially investigating it fits with their denial, why would they send 2 Spectres to check out the same thing?

I think it's highly unlikely that Kaidan's a spectre, however I do think it's interesting that he was(at least in my playthrough) trying to convince the (alien) council that the threat of the reapers was real. I think that it was mentioned somewhere in ME that it was hard for people to get a meeting with the council and yet Anderson makes it sound like Kaidan being there was no big deal.

It also sounded like the report he gave about Horizon was given to Anderson and again in my playthrough Anderson was a council member. So why was Kaidan reporting to the council instead of Alliance brass. Just one way of looking at it. I get that the ties between humans and the council might be so tight now that Alliance soldiers might report to them all the time since they probably took up a lot of the slack when the Turian army was mostly destroyed figthing Sovereign.

Like I said he's probably not but if not...it still makes you wonder exactly how the Alliance and the Council are working together now.

And even Garrus' love interest plot was kinda, "eh."  I love the dude.  I thought he had some great lines. "What? I didn't shoot him."  But he seems like a big brother, buddy type.  Not a bow chica bow wow.

Off topic: RvB fan too?

On topic: Kaidan is awesome, obviously. No ******.

RVB is great.  I love their Zombie Plan PSA :)

Ooh, what is this? Is there a link? I should really prepare for the Zombiepocalypse. I want to live to see my survival story printed in World War Z!

You can find RVB episodes online at http://redvsblue.com/home.php or through the Xbox.  My hubby actually bought me The Zombie Survival Guide, by Max Brooks.  Of course I am having a hard time finishing it with all of the time I spend on my Kaidan addiction :)  Hopefully the Zombie apocalypse will wait until after ME3 is released.

I don't believe the council are quite as unbelieving as everyone thinks they are, they know some serious **** is going down and there was one nasty ass ship involved, the opening credits even say that they were trying to hush up the involvement of the Reapers but Shep running round blurting it out to everyone wouldn't further their goals.  After Shep, Kaidan is the leading expert on the Reapers so of course he's the one involved in it and councillor or not Anderson is still Alliance so it makes sense to have Kaidan reporting to him as it's both Alliance and council business.

I just think they're not prepared to gather armies etc, instigate galactic wide panic until they have concrete evidence.  I think in Shep's absence Kaidan was the one gathering that evidence.  When Shep came back they immediately send her out to deal with the collectors where they couldn't intervene as it was Terminus system.

I have to agree - the Bioware people seem to have made the plot so that, from the player's PoV, it looks like the Council are ignoring an obvious threat, but really, the amount of solid evidence they have is minimal - Shepard's 'dream' isn't exactly something you wanna base war plans off of.

Of course, to Shepard, the warning signs are plan and obvious, and hence they are to the player too. And alot of players seem to lack empathy on these forums, so they aren't willing and/or able to see things from any other view than their own.

Agreed.  Although it doesn't help when Mr. Turian does air quotes at my FemShep.  Makes me love the renegade response you can give to the Council after killing the Rachni in ME1.

Turian: "Do you enjoy wiping out an enitre species Shepard?"
Shep: "Depends on the species, Turian." ;)

I think I totally missed the air quotes. I'll have to watch for that when I go back for another play-through.

I could understand Kaidan being a specter, but I don't necessarily like it. However, seeing as how interchangeable Bioware seems to make Kaidan and Ash, I don't think he would be because I can't see Ash being a specter at all.

Joey on Horizon makes me laugh every time. I almost spit my water on my laptop this last time.

He probably looked it up after Udina used it on him.

Turian: Hello, "ambassador". How are you today?
Udina: I'm doing better than expected. I "hope" you are doing well.
Turian: Ah yes, "well". I am "well"
Udina: "Good" to hear that. I'd be "upset" if you weren't

Just curious...What do you believe about the Alliance? The news reports seem to say that they are stretched thin...that enrollment is down, however the news reports are known to be lies quite often...actually in ME I can't recall them ever being right. You think that the Alliance might be up to something?

No matter what happens in ME3 I hope they put a stop to making them practically the same person with minor differences(small dialog changes and such). Makes me feel somewhat cheated that they did it in ME2.

I think they are stretched thin because of the huge fleet they're assembling.  Anderson believes Shep, the Alliance pretty much took out Sovereign on their own, so they know what they're facing.  If anyone has Shep's back it's the Alliance, there's no way they could ignore Anderson and their most famous soldier, numbers wouldn't be falling with the massive victory for humanity, I think it's all propoganda.

Let's not forget of course they know that the Reapers are machines, probably able to intercept communications, what better way to lull the enemy into thinking they had an easy victory ahead of them?

I honestly think ME2 is designed to throw us off the scent at every opportunity

Agreed. But one wonders why Ash was promoted once and Kaidan was promoted twice. I adore the hell out of the gal (second favorite character), but she is a tad spirited to have me see her being an officer, let alone a Spectre. She's great as the NCO that yells at the grunts though. I think she needs a few more years of experience before becoming an officer.

I'm not sure about Kaidan being a Spectre either. I don't know if he's ruthless enough, though I could see him doing some secret agent type of work. He's seen enough of aliens and the like.

Then again, two years might have changed  both of them enough to turn them into excellent Spectre candidates. In ME3, I'd love to see Ash's nurturing side more. She did help raise 3 sisters... and we saw a bit of it when she talked to Samesh Bahtia.

I'd also like to see Kaidan with a bit of an edge in ME3. When you turn him renegade, he shows a very lovely angry streak.

Well, I'm not sure about that.

The Alliance was fairly strong in ME1, but they lost ships in ME1. But on top of that, they became a Council species which, whilst giving them Alliance a voice in Galactic politics, also means they have to prove ships and troops and so forth for the Citadel defences and the Council patrols. Also, there has been a war with the Geth that has had an unknown toll on the Alliance.

On top of that, they have their existing committments to safe guard human colonies from Batarian slavers and other Terminus system's species.
