I think they are stretched thin because of the huge fleet they're assembling.  Anderson believes Shep, the Alliance pretty much took out Sovereign on their own, so they know what they're facing.  If anyone has Shep's back it's the Alliance, there's no way they could ignore Anderson and their most famous soldier, numbers wouldn't be falling with the massive victory for humanity, I think it's all propoganda. 

Let's not forget of course they know that the Reapers are machines, probably able to intercept communications, what better way to lull the enemy into thinking they had an easy victory ahead of them?

I honestly think ME2 is designed to throw us off the scent at every opportunity

I was kind of thinking along those lines...that they were assembling a fleet...I think that a lot of the new recruits may even be helping build new warships in secret. I just don't think that you can count the Alliance out. I'm also thinking that they may be coming up with some interesting new technology we may be seeing in ME3 as well.

Dunno, I don't think the toll on the alliance has been that great during the Geth war, the impression I got was that it was more clearing pockets of reisitance with little in the way of real combat or losses.  Yes they have to pledge ships but as the council aren't doing anything major I don't see the toll being all that great there either and the colonies and Terminus ships were there before so it's not a new strain on resources.

Couple that with the fact we seem to be able to do everything faster than the other races, I bet in 2yrs the lost warships have been replaced and a number of new warships have already been made and there are many many more being assembled.

True... true. The Alliance's strength is curiously flexible, heh. Curse you Bioware for your bluffs and double bluffs!

I have to admit, you're right that the Alliance could be alot stronger than the news states. In would certainly be useful if the Council or Alliance are trying to misdirect the Reapers or Geth, as both are known to listen to the insecure extranet data channels.

Shepard has fancy blue lights on her armor too, it's obviously a new technological development over the past two years.  Poor Ashley gets stuck in her old Phoenix armor.  Obviously some requisition officer still is holding a grudge over her grandfather's deeds.

I too thought the alliance hasn't lost it touch, but Kaidan being a specter is very interesting. When I heard that news report, I had assumed it was Shepard they were talking about. I. For me, I thought that the council was up too something big that they are hushing up to not create panic among civilians. However, the alliance still has a lot up their selves, since Anderson is the only one that believes Shepard. I highly doubt that the alliance isn't up too something big to combat the reapers threat.

Well, I was listening to Emily wong, I can't remember which one it was the one about reportes of sending a specters to Horzion, The space mirror thing, made think that they might be making a weapon of some short,

OH GOD.  Open console + Teleport.  I did it with no cheats ONCE and it took me almost an hour with reloads.  I am not a sneaky finesse type.
