ty. i am a horrible speller. and yes. a minority indeed. though there are other gaming minorities as well. sadly, it seems the default gamer is supposedly white, straight, male, 19 years old, and only likes boobies. *le sigh*

bioware does better than most companies, however. it may not be in the promo material, but they usually slip ins tuff for the non-standard gamer. is why they've won my loyalty as a fan over the years.

I think everyone (not just on this thread, mostly on the other) is missing a bit of what Teen was saying and what I totally agree with...FemShep is shafted not just with no cover but with no art whatsoever. She is not represented. Not in development pics, not in anything. I don't have a cool femshep wallpaper my comp unless a fan makes it. I don't get 'holy ****!' cutscenes with a femshep that I can relate to, I get Sheploo and his side kick cleavage of the week.

Her LIs? Kaidan is a perfect example. Compare the information we have on the female LIs as compared with what we have on the male. Ash vs Kaidan is a perfect example.

I thought Teen represented her point very well and it irritated me to read it degenerated into a male vs female triteness.

Okay, I will go there...there are no words to express how pissed I was when I found out MaleRevan got to kiss Bastila and my FemRevan got nothing from Carth but Sbarge's soulful VA. Bad words were said.

And yes, dammit! I want a cut scene with Kaidan at FemSheps back where they are both kicking ass and taking names. Is that so much to ask?

Archive of Our Own.  Smaller reader-base, less restrictive rules (and they don't mess with your formatting as badly).  ...FF.N will only pull your stuff if someone reports you, but still...

Haha, yeah, I had a bad experience with FF.N pulling a story written by an awesome author for the 'sexual content' and it was TAME compared to some other stuff I've read... even in published books where romance is not the main theme. I mean granted my fanfic is not going to be a huge smut fest by any means, those are tacky, but I'd rather not take the chance of having it taken down because someone reports it for not glossing over the sex scenes like a Disney movie.

@ jaer. i hear you. i have been trying to collect some video in fraps of all the squaddies looking cool - seriously, no cool intros/fights/anything for kaidan. is sadness to me. gonna have to find some footage of fights, i think. he does *not* just stand around and talk, but to see the cutscenes, you'd think he did. sadness.

I completely agree with her and get where she is coming from. FemShep got random pictures thrown out after the game was released, or just right before.
I :blush:d cuz I knew exactly where the thread would go: down the drain. Fights, arguments ect.
Alistair, Kaidan and Carth all bit the dust on any info last I checked. Did anyone even know Kaidan was an LI before the game release?
Seeing Alistair instead of Sten in that Sacred Ashes trailed would of, imo, made more sense seeing as he does play an important role in the story, like him or not. Morrigan was the poster girl, and plays an important role, so she was there.
I doubt we'll get anything related to Kaidan for ME3 video wise either, like a "Character Reveal Trailer"
I doubt Ash will either, but much better chance than he does. You'll just have to "assume" him into the same trailer and position.

EDIT

I didn't know too terribly much when I bought Mass Effect, just that it was awesome and sounded like I'd enjoy it. I rented it first and just started with the deafult soldier male Shepard, because I assumed that like with a lot of others games I've played, it'd be more fun playing as male and I'd get more out of the story. Unfortunately I only got to the beginning of Therum before something happened to the rental disc... went out and bought the game as soon as I could and started a new game with a FemShep.

i lurk some threads and one complaint about kaidan was he didn't have a badass cutscene.  that of course proved he was useless in combat.

I think if my mom walked in and saw a picture of a shirtless guy with a gun, she'd probably wonder when I started digging guys with guns. In fact, she'd probably wonder when I started to gaga over a single guy in the first place, privately or loud and proud like those twilight fans.

Okay...the male/female gamer thing.  How about they market a RPG with romance.  For the female demographic, you can only pick up the Sbarge LI character if you play as a female.  They've done companions like that before.  You'd only get a certain character if you were light side or dark side, or male or female.  And then those whiny-a**'d jerks who ****** and moan about not wanting to hear Sbarge's voice don't have to worry about it.  They won't have him in the game.

Hmmm...and I usually play as a paragon/light side character.  Just have trouble playing a baddie.  But I'd turn in a second if that would get me a Sbarge LI in a game.  That would be interesting...

Yeah.  Don't even get me started there.  they get a romantic private kiss.  FemRev gets to a love declaration in front of the entire crowd 20 ft from Carth and no kiss. 

On the Kaidan biotic kick:  Frak yeah!
That would have been cool to have a flashback of him taking down his instructor.

@ Jade: Do I smell conflicting mods? *gasp!* I hate those. I had a major KotOR mod conflict once that made all the clothing textures turn white. So everybody was wearing blocky white suits. Carth didn't look very handsome like that.

Ironically, before the FemPC vs MalePC topic came up, I had this scene playing in my mind with Kaidan meeting someone from his past, who served with him, who would be a big drunk HeMan and spout every single argument I've ever heard against Kaidan. The whole 'whiney' 'gay' bit as well as being reminded of someone else completely different. That line cropped up then and no worries. It will be used once I get down to writing it. I keep picturing Kaidan with a half smile/smirk as he says it.

Ohhh, yeah, the Best Of causes problems. I know this because a friend has that and uses a save-game editor to do stuff like mods. The stand-alone KotOR disc doesn't, though.

And I KNOW! That was epically unfair. Thank heaven for Carth clothing mods that allow him to run around in tight pants and no shirt...
