Anyway, I have a question.

How do you think Kaidan would react if Shepard romanced someone in ME2 (and in ME1 romanced Kaidan)? Does it depend on who it is? If it's Jacob, is Kaidan going to be more upset or otherwise negative since Jacob is Cerberus? If it's Garrus, what will Kaidan think considering he knew Garrus before? If it's Thane, what would Kaidan think since Thane is dying?

I have no idea, but Bioware has made it obvious that if you choose to romance someone over your original love interest in ME2 the outcome is going to be bad in ME3... so I'm guessing likely it'll end with Kaidan breaking up with her.

Not that my FemShep will have to worry about that. xD

Counter that with Kaidan in ME1 (on topic yay!) if you choose Liara during the confrontation (never did this myself... thanks youtube!).  He's obviously disappointed, but he doesn't lash out at Liara and goes back to being professional, sans the silent treatment.

That's probably because Kaidan is a good person and a gentleman.
The rest of the crew (minus Tali) is a group of killers.  Shepard can shape them into being a little more compassionate, but they just aren't good people.  Even Thane, who would be the only one that would actually tempt me a little if Kaidan wasn't in the picture--he's got this "it isn't my fault, I"m just the weapon" pile of crud excuse for his behavior.

Yes, Kaidan has killed.  But he grieves over his mistakes, too.  And he works to be better--without Shepard telling him to.  He's just a better person than the rest of the ME2 crew (Tali excepted).

'Cause Tali is awesome, and she doesn't deserve the weirdness that is her group of fanboys. Well, some of her fanboys. They can be really odd. Like, odder than us, even! I know! Shocking!

Creepiest line I've seen some of her fanboys use is "She's so innocent.. like a little girl^^"

...

Umm...

LOL! Yeah.... that's just disturbing. x_x I really like Tali as well, but I'm one of the rare few who want to see her end up with Kal'Reegar - it is obvious he has some feelings for her. Plus their dynamic is just cute!

Oh!  I agree.  That would be great for her!

//
The dumping Kaidan vid.  Wow.  He has a problem with lesbians apparently.  But I felt so badly for the guy.  Inside pert of me was shouting "don't do it!  don't do it!"

I had 3 sets of fish my first time through ME2.  Now I know that if you go up to feed them every couple of small missions or after every large one, they are okay.  They look nice.  Besides, then I have Kimbr go over and sigh at the photo on the desk.

Tali with Kal could be interesting. I certainly wouldn't mind if she did end up with him.

When ME3 is released, I'm deleting every save game where I so much as thought the word "cheat" :innocent:

re: cheating, I think it would depend on the context, but it's quite possible he'd regret hs own behavior on Horizon for driving her away.  I think he'd also be disappointed that she wasn't who he'd thought she was, cause it hadn't been that long apart for her.  It'd been painful and awkward, and I think Garrus would be the worst, as they were presumably friends.  Jacob would be the most disconcerting, since it's hard to imagine a Shepard from the first game who'd get involved w/someone from Cerberus.  Thane could quite possibly have the same reaction, since he's an assassin.  Highly variable, depending on what part of which relationship you're focusing on.

eta:  And I so want Tali and Kal together.  If only for more Adam Baldwin in ME3. :P

I think that Kaidan being Kaidan will try to be understanding about it.  But it would have been an major undermining of the trust between them--especially since that trust is already strained by the Cerberus thing and perhaps him not really believing that Shep was dead for those 2 years.  I think that it will be possible to end up with him, but perhaps it wouldn't be as happy of an ending as it would have been for the faithful Shep.

He will be hurt by it, I'm sure.  Look at the guilt he displays in his message about just going out for drinks with someone 2 years after Shep was dead!  It would be hard to see Shepard hurt him again--by ordering him to take the life pod, by dying, by her absence of 2 years, by being with Cerberus, by not replying to his heartfelt message.

You are going to have freaks in some fandoms. It's the internet.

We are not all like that. I am a fan of the character and I would say that most of the thread is pretty normal. You are going to have outliers, but what can you do.

it will probably be a variation of the same scene with all three potential new suitors.  shepard's death changed femshep and kaidan while altering whatever relationship they could have had.  then they cordially part ways.

Because of the Cerberus connection, Jacob is the only one I see Kaidan getting angry over.  Not to the point where there'd be a physical confrontation, but I think the betrayal he'd feel would be two-fold.

Garrus?  I think there's a slight possibilty that he might blame himself there.  He might think that his reaction on Horizon and refusal to join Shepard was all but pushing her into Garrus' arms.  I just see the poor guy beating himself up over it with a lot of "what ifs".

I don't think the fact that Thane is dying would have much of an impact one way or another, in his view.  Since this is the only ME2 romance that is obviously more than a fling*, he'd be hurt for sure, but I think he would see that Shepard has moved on and would eventually do the same.

No matter who Shepard romanced in ME2, if she did, I think the relationship with Kaidan is over.  I don't see the "pick one" scenario happening again.

*I don't happen to think the Garrus romance is a fling, but I can see how it can be viewed that way, depending on your Shep.

Gotta be.

Gosh, I didn't even think about him feeling guilty about driving her into someone else's arms.  You're right, though.  He takes such personal responsibility for things.

I don't have to worry about the romances. The FemShep in whose game poor Kaidan died will romance Garrus, and every other FemShep imported from ME1 will remain faithful to Kaidan. No worries for me! I'm glad of that. XD

I'm assuming the cheat/remain faithful deal will be pretty simple - I mean, it CAN'T affect the game so much someone dies.

Remain faithful, you can continue your relationship.

Cheat and the potential LI option for Kai/Ash/Li are all cut off.

^That's assuming Kaidan and Ash are romanceable in ME3 without starting one in the first place. I dunno why I keep thinking both of them will be LIs in the 3rd game. Liara is harder to say for me personally.

The article that I posted a day or two ago talked about continuing a romance from ME1.  I don't think that a new romance option would open up with Kaidan or Ash if you didn't have it already for that character.

I hope it isn't all cut and dry.  Cheat=loss.  I think that the wording of Kaidan's message (not the feeling behind the message) is meant to leave that ambiguity open for Shep to justify opening another relationship if she felt there was no chance left with Kaidan.  I'm not saying that's right.  Just the way its written.
But it would have rammifications.  Perhaps some of the other choices made in the game would also shape Kaidan's willingness to rekindle the relationship.

dinner time...

Nah. My distaste for nicknames is reflected in Alice (my femshep). Kaidan is good enough. :D

Nicknames for Kaidan? "K-bear." Always "K-bear." I heard "Kai-Kai" when I first arrived at this thread, but I didn't care much for that one.
