Yeah.  I found on the missions when he would say "All clear Commander" or something like that I would say "Thanks sweetie" or "Thanks, Baby."

I've done that a few times with both of them.
It's pretty sad to watch and I don't think Shepard has that short scene where she's looking out at the planet as it blows.

I always send Kaidan to the AA towers, cause I like Ashley getting a proper heroic cutscene death. (In fic, though, I always keep him with the bomb, cause it makes more tactical sense to me that Shepard'd have to protect the bomb.)

Yep those are the extent of my Shepard's nicknames for Kaidan.

nicknames for Kaidan? ugh no! I don't see my Shep calling him any nicknames. Just the ones mentioned above but I don't know if they can be considered "nicknames". Hell, I don't even picture Shayenne calling him babe or something. Just.....weird! If Joker ever becomes a romance option, then I'll make another Shep just for him and that will be the typical "babe" kinda girl. Not the, "boo" or "sweetie-pie" *barfs*

I am close to finishing my second playthrough with Lana, hence my heavy activity in the Thane thread lately since she is Thane's girl.

But now I'm off to bed, good night everyone.

Gosh!  Not having Kaidan in my squad and hearing him over the radio, not knowing how he's doing about sent my Kimbri into a panic attack.  I think she was too distracted to think cooly.  (I get into my roleplay ).
It was good to see Ash get a heroic sendout.  But I LIKE hoisting Kaidan over my shoulder and carrying him back. 

Did anyone else experience anxiety sending Kaidan with the other team?  Or was I just odd?

I send him to the bomb... it's too sad to watch Ash die as it is.

I had the anxiety, too. And if the comm cut out from enemy fire, I freaked. "KAIDAN ARE YOU OKAY?!?!"

I love hoising him, too. It's so... yummeh. Not to mention he's obviously been shot, so then that can make for a fic-able scene in medbay later.

...okay, maybe I won't go AFK. Too much fun here!

Well, time to stop talking ME2 and go play some.

Ugh. I'm the Overlord part. I HATE that stupid hover craft thing. HATE IT

I am NOT doing the Firewalker DLC (or whatever its called) this time through because I hate that thing. But the story of the Overlord is good and will probably have some carry through into ME3 to some degree, so I figured I'd better do it anyways.

How do you think Kaidan would react if Shepard romanced someone in ME2 (and in ME1 romanced Kaidan)? Does it depend on who it is? If it's Jacob, is Kaidan going to be more upset or otherwise negative since Jacob is Cerberus? If it's Garrus, what will Kaidan think considering he knew Garrus before? If it's Thane, what would Kaidan think since Thane is dying?

Because of the Cerberus connection, Jacob is the only one I see Kaidan getting angry over.  Not to the point where there'd be a physical confrontation, but I think the betrayal he'd feel would be two-fold.

Garrus?  I think there's a slight possibilty that he might blame himself there.  He might think that his reaction on Horizon and refusal to join Shepard was all but pushing her into Garrus' arms.  I just see the poor guy beating himself up over it with a lot of "what ifs".

I don't think the fact that Thane is dying would have much of an impact one way or another, in his view.  Since this is the only ME2 romance that is obviously more than a fling*, he'd be hurt for sure, but I think he would see that Shepard has moved on and would eventually do the same.

No matter who Shepard romanced in ME2, if she did, I think the relationship with Kaidan is over.  I don't see the "pick one" scenario happening again.


*I don't happen to think the Garrus romance is a fling, but I can see how it can be viewed that way, depending on your Shep.

Goofygoof put my own thoughts into words.  I have a loyal Kaidan playthrough, but I do admit Garrus stole one of my Shepards from him.

I do like Kaidan, he's a stand up guy and just right for my vanguard.  My husband even likes Kaidan!  I had to laugh because when my husband encountered Kaidan on Horizon he was like, 'Yeah, my A-team is back, I got the hook up!' and he looked at me afterwards and said tearfully, 'Kaidan broke up with me!'.

I recommend reading Sia's A Paragon of Virtue. There's an awesome flashback from Kaidan about Virmire.
