I'm probably one of maybe two-ish people that blame Shepard for Horizon much more than the VS.
Nope. It took two people to screw that up. Just like in any real life fight.
I'm saying that I believe that it's more Shepard's fault than his.
When I play, I'm
hurt by his response (both by feeling Shepard's pain and by seeing his), but I'm
angered by hers.
And I agree that it takes two. But if she had been more warm toward him (hell, I don't think it would have taken much--just match how he started off), he wouldn't have blown up like he did. Was it right of him? No. But even Kaidan has limits to his self-control and after 2 years, the poor man finally reached his.
@Giggles: I guess we just disagree. I was angry and hurt by his rejection of Shep 1st time through (well, and second), but the depth of emotion he shows in his message gets to me. Remember, this is a man who never lets anyone in. He keeps to himself. Even in ME1 when he opens up to her, he never
really comes out and tells her how he feels. He starts on various occassions. She knows what he means or where he is going with it. But he never really
says it. In his message, he lays it all out. In words and in feeling--everything that's going on with him. Yes. Its all jumbled up. Yes, its a mess. But its honest and its open. To be honest, its more that Shepard deserves at that point. And what does she offer in return?
Nothing Hell, she doesn't even respond to her mother's e-mail.
Teen Zombie:
So while it was wrong for Kaidan to go off and not listen, there is NO way to actually make him listen, which makes Shepard wrong, too. This is the way they wrote him out for this chapter, and while it sucks, I have to accept it, and hope that his role is better in the next game.
I like Jilly's fic where she runs him down and
makes him listen.

@sesheta: I wouldn't worry too much about the Citadel doctor. Would she have an absolutely gorgeous man sitting across from her at dinner? Yes. But it likely was a miserable date. He's been mourning his girlfriend for 2 years and this is the first social contact he's had. You think Shepard didn't come up (Perhaps not by name). You don't think he felt guilty the entire date for "cheating" on a woman that had been dead for 2 years?
I think that doctor likely isn't going to be talking to the friends who set her up on that date for at least a week.
@Kassy: I felt sick, too. Good thing that a pity frak wasn't an option at that point in the story. Kimbri was devastated and pissed at the same time. Until the message came.
Cerberus is into intelligence collecting. You don't think there were rumors galore flying around about Shep and Alenko no matter how careful they thought they were being? It didn't have to come from one of the squad. Any of the crew could have easily noticed. And how is it that Kaidan's picture is on the desk already when Shepard first walks in. Cerberus knows. I don't think they needed Kaidan's letter to find out. But I certainly don't like the thought that little miss pissy-spandex-pants riffled through it before passing it along--and Chambers, too.
Ugh. I wondered if Shep not sending any replies to anything had something to do with not trusting Cerberus/Miranda/Kelly.
