The ME1 LI's are definitely set to return though because otherwise they would have been in ME2 - the reason they weren't is because BIoware said they didn't want the ME1 squadmates to die before the final act.

I know, would love it personally if they are the ones with the major roles. Why else save them that way and not doing the same or even mentioning the same where ME2 LI's are concerned. Omg, the boards will be filled with so much hate.

Indeedie, one has to assume they have a major role to play in the story that the ME2 interests simply don't - after all, you can't base major plot points around characters who may be dead.

And indeed - the internet; hive of  every type of scum and villain in the Galaxy - we must be careful here.

There are lights on the armour in ME1 as well, but only for Ashley and Kaidan, not Shepard. This is something that bugs me every time I take them both to the Citadel and have the scene in Udina's office - I have them all fitted out with Colossus, and both Ash and Kai have little blue marker lights on their armour, but Shep doesn't get them. Where are my glowies, darn it?!

David Eddings, Anne McCaffery, Diane Duane, Robin Hobb - I do believe that between you all you've accounted for most of the fantasy half of my bookshelf space. On the strength of those recommendations I shall have to try Tamora Pierce. And if you haven't read any Diana Wynne Jones, then I recommend that!

My favourite author.  Its hard to choose a favourite, I love the Belgariad, but I am partial to Sparhawk as well.  Also love Anne McCaffrey Dragon riders of Pern series.

You read David Eddings and Anne McCaffrey?!  Dragonriders of Pern is one of my favorites too.  If you know Diane Duane or Tamora Pierce I swear I'm going to start wondering if we were twins separated at birth.

I've read every Dragonriders of Pern book as well

Poor Kaidan!!! It made my heart break a little again. It was refreshing to read though. You gave him a wonderful outlet to remember her by. I think you captured him much better than a majority of the writers on fanfiction.net. It is nice to see people aren't forgetting about him again. There is much to much Garrus & Thane love going on right now and they rairly get Kaiden right. Thanks!!!

Loved the story, hopefully we'll get a happy ending at some point.

I don't know about anyone else but I can't read any of the fanfics that have Shepard involved with someone besides Kaidan.

Ditto. Heck can't even seem to get through DA again. The time I spend on gaming is now being consumed by dwelling on these boards and photoshop. Sillyness

Well th Belgariad is like my fave book (technically series) of all time! I've read all but the latest ones which are sat on my shelf waiting to be read!  Lol keep getting distracted though!

I feel like the world's biggest dork to admit it but I've made my own ME novel out of various fanfics which I made into a PDF and keep on my kindle. 

I started off with Iunctio and ended with After the End (my favorite all time ME fanfic) and then edited together various pieces for the ME2 section.   Of course I also edited the document to make it consistent with name, appearance and background of my Shepard as well.  
  
I'm constantly updating and editing the document as the fanfics are published, a project I'm sure I'll keep working on till ME3 comes out and my Shepard can get a real resolution to her story.

Right now I'm impatiently waiting for Impsy to come out with the follow up to Demigod, Demigod made Joker even more awesome if that's possible.

It's gonna be a long long  2 + years till M3.

Everyone needs a bit of silliness now & again though and we all appreciate the time you spend on photoshop, lol.
I suppose I will have to do yet another playthrough of DAO again to relearn the controls before Awakenings comes out.  I was playing ME the other night & kept hitting the space bar instead of E, then wondering why nothing was happening

Seeing Kaidan angst makes me forgive him for breaking Shep's heart on horizon.

Gonna try the latest Final Fantasy before even considering Awakening, not sure I want to buy it. Then again, not too sure I'm still into the FF format. Might be getting a bit old for it, who knows

Have to admit I'm feeling pretty gamed out after playing DAO non-stop, then ME2 non-stop till now.  I even downloaded Return to Ostagar but still haven't played it, lol.  I'm a bit disappointed that Awakenings doesn't continue the romance from DAO but will probably buy it on release.  Also waiting for Assassins Creed 2 for PC to arrive.

Now as for Kaidan commanding his own ship in ME3, it's a fear I've been having for a while now. Something that lingers in my mind, faintly, but there. Mostly because of Kaidan's promotions, I can see him climbing the ranks even further and at the same speed. But in all honesty, it makes little sense.
Giving him his own ship basically gives him yet another cameo. So he's part of the fleet against the Reapers, it just seems like a Virmire moment to me. Send Kaidan with the Salarians and you get to hear his voice every now and then, that's it. So in the fight against the reapers, you can hear him report in? No thank you.

Dunno if we should cling to it in any form or shape, but Bioware's statement on the Indiana Jones thing HAS to place the LI at Shepard's side in the last chapter of her story.
However, is Bioware going to treat all LI's the same? ME1 introduces Kaidan/Ash/Liara while ME2 opened a can of even more LI's. All ME2 LI's can possibly die, which in my mind still means it will effect the time and resources Bioware will spend on these characters. Then again, I'm sure the majority of players will have saved each character in one save or another.
I already think the quality of the LI's went downhill fast in ME2 because of the number of characters, in ME3 the old LI's will come into play again as well. I've said it before, that's a lot of characters for a part of the game that's so small, romances.

Hmm, now that I think about it. What DOES make sense? Turn the LI in Shepard's second in command, thus creating a role ANY LI can take on. Despite difference in characters, they ALL follow Shepard's command. One role for all LI's and the one you choose is the one that shows up as recruitable for the position. Cheated on Kaidan? He won't be available. etc. Same dialogue, same cutscenes etc no matter who your LI is. (with slight detail work like the Horizon dialogue) Which means only 1 will be onboard the Normandy. That means creating 1 detailed role to be taken by any given LI and create small cameos for the same characters in case they survived but are not the LI.
Which in my case means Kaidan will be the LI at Shepard's side while Jacob, Liara, Miranda, Garrus, Tali, Jack and Thane will get cameos. Still fighting against the reapers no doubt but in their own story away from the Normandy with them reporting in from where ever they are fighting from. (just a few VO lines, no animations, cheap) All LI, besides Liara, can die in ME1 or 2...this puts them all on the same level now.

Okay so I'm having breakfast and still waking up...but I think it makes sense. To me at least

Makes perfect sense and probably the most logical conclusion scripting wise. One point though...who ever you chose as the Virmire survivor could not die. Most people turn that around and say Kaidan/Ash could die...only one of them could die...the other one was ensured to survive...the only difference was that you got to pick which one.

Just read it - I think it's beautiful. Poor, tortured Kaidan - hope he gets a hug in the next chapter, sounds like he needs one!
