I think it would have made more sense for Miranda to have put a control chip in Shepard, seen how far tIM was willing to go at the Collector base, resigning and taking it upon herself to free Shepard at that point.  Don't even have to change the rest of the game for that reasoning.

Agreed on earlier posts - Kaidan would destroy the base instead of giving it to Cerberus. Not sure whether he'd give it to the Alliance though. I need to think about that one. I lean towards no though.

I can see logical reasons for keeping the base, but giving it to Cerberus is a horrible, horrible idea.  What's the point of fighting the Reapers at all if humanity just ends up fighting the other races of the galaxy once that threat is taken care of?  Just my opinion, of course, but I'd only keep it to see the outcome in the next game, not on my main Shepard.

And of course, Kaidan would definitely get rid of it.  He is a very careful guy, and there are too many variables involved with having it around.

Remember the Rachni Queen?  He wasn't really in favor of letting her live due to the potential for disaster.  And she seemed peaceful, understanding the downfalls of previous generations.  TIM has no such compunctions.

The option to give it to the Alliance via Kaidan would have been a good option.  That way the Alliance knows where Shep's allegience lies and Shep would trust Kaidan to make sure that the Alliance would do the right thing with the base.

I did her loyalty mission quite some time after Horizon. Shep couldn't ask her to destroy the data because of what it was tied to. Shep knew that in Kasumi's position, she wouldn't have been able to do it, and she's not about to ask someone else to do something that she couldn't do as well.

Yeah.  I allowed her to keep it as well.  Same reasons.

I also had Mordin keep the genophage data.  I knew that there may be some repurcussions, but it could also help him to keep the genophage under check if needed or to alter it to be less effective if needed.

i totally think TIM is just such an arrogant b*stard that he honestly thinks he can control shepard. that is my take. the way the guy blithely LIES to you right from the start: liara is WITH the shadow broker? no. total lie - and he should know better, too.

i take it that he thinks he can manipulate shep to his heart's content, keep him/her dancing to his tune. again, so megalomaniacal (um, spelling?) that he can't even imagine that someone as awesome as shep wouldn't bow down to someone as awesome as HIM.
