The first time I played Virmire, I saved on a new file after making all my choices so I could go back and immediately do all the permutations from the beach.  'Cause I needed to know what happened.  I kinda prefer the AA tower, since I thought it was far more dramatic, what with the almost falling off the precipice bit and the whoever-you-left-with-the-bomb-gutpunch-ow bit.

Story-wise, I tend to leave Kaidan with the bomb, though that'll change depending on the Shepard.  And hearing Ashley get shot down still makes me wibble.

i mostly have Kaidan at the bomb, storywise it makes more sense because of his tech skills. I tried sending him with the salarians once. the scene you get when you leave ash behind at the bomb is heartbreaking. i hate leaving her behind as it is, that scene just makes me feel worse.

Yeah same here. The one time I decided to leave Ash at the bomb was to see if there was some special scene while rescueing Kaidan on the tower...there wasn't, well not for him anyway. The Ash scene was heartbreaking indeed

Was hoping for some gun blazing heroic tower rescue scene...but instead it was Ash with the bomb...once and never again for me, Kaidan is with the bomb on every playthrough now.

I remember Marge always yelling at him later. She's so good at lying to herself, that it's creeping me out. Kaidan made me feel guilty twice in the game. Virmire and the council. One of the reason this game is awesome.

I tend to leave Ashley at the bomb but i'm doing another play-through of ME1 so i might save Kaidan at the bomb. Does Kirrahe and his team die if you save Kaidan at the bomb site?

...er... Anyhow.  Been my experience that all of the salarians make it out so long as you
help them on your way to the base.  If that is helpful at all.

He's actually blinking, I happened to capture him with his eyes closed. He was stepping back from the nuke at the moment.

That's been my experience too. I've always saved the person at the nuke, and the only time I didn't have all the Salarians on board was when I was playing my mean Renegade who made things easier on herself by not disabling stuff. Then Kirrahe wasn't there, but his XO was.

Anyway on Vimire (we are still talking about that right?) I always do everything to help the salarians, I take Kaidan then leave him with the bomb - I don't set off the alarms & I free the salaries. I love when you let the asari go and tell her to run Kaidan says "you enjoyed that didn't you?" Yes, yes I did!

I love that too, she didn't have as good of appearance in ME2. would've loved to see her run screaming again, she went too calmly.
anyway, thought i'd make a new motivational from a well loved pic, the original one is probably better though.

First playthrough, I sent Ash to the AA.  I felt like "I have a bad feeling about this" and wasn't going to let Kaidan out of my sight.  Plus since he had the right skills for the job, it made more sense, so my Shep was glad that she had that excure.

Second time, I tried out sending him to the AA.  I HATED it.  I was into the role-play aspect--so I was into the character well and the audio stream with Kirrahe and Kaidan was distracting and anxiety-provoking for Kimbri.  It was difficult for her to concentrate on the task at hand when she was constantly worrying about him.  Still, I saved him at the AA--makes less sense from a  tactical POV.  All in all, I didn't really like that version so I went back and redid that section of the game.  Plus, I like hauling him up and carrying Kaidan to safetly. 

@Alenko:  I didn't realize that Kirrahe might die.  I guess it has to do with that point when you enter the building and if you take on the extra guards or not.  I always did.  Shepard is tough and can get through anything.  So she would happily take on the extra guards for her team.

Finished my first day back at work ;-) I´m glad that, in my atually playthroughs I´m still far away from Virmire... I doubt I ever will get used to the situation

But seing femshep carrying Kaidan away ... Yeah, I liked that ;-)
