Jenkins was under Shepard's command.  Kaidan is only the OIC after Shepard gets Spectre'd.

I thought he was in charge of the marines from the get go.

Shepard was in charge at the beginning. He was effectively the second at the start.

I figure he means that he's lost people he was directly responsible for the wellbeing of, just not in combat. Wouldn't rule out such cheerful demises as accidents, suicides, or sinkholes. 

Most likely. Still curious about those commendations he's got in his files. Maybe know a bit more about why he was handpicked to be on the Normandy.

Maybe he blames himself for kids dying at BaAT? One thing I can think of that he can feel guilty about.

I do too, but it was just the only thing we know about that happened for a fact.

I wouldn't call being even a class leader as having anyone under your command.

I'd say it's more likely training accidents on other postings, or diseases.

I vote for training accident, if he's really ever lost anyone at all, and we're not just over-analyzing a poorly-edited sentence.

"yeah, pretty sure. i've been listening to his voice yelling at kyrie for the last two days straight."

is not in imdb, but i swear it's him. very funny. he says something like "i can't leave with you" - it's the SAME i tell you. just the same raspy voice, refusing to come along...

clearly horizon is making me loopy. chapter 27 and 28 are up, but i can't get them to show for some reason...

I am really shocked by this.

I have recently gotten a higher respect for Kaidan, when he is dead he helps those children with biotics. It is the "Kaidan Alenko grant for Privileged Youths". I heard about it on the Citadel. To think that he did more good dead than alive =p

EDIT: I'm kidding obviously. I was just putting in more input about why he is great. Even dead he is a greater character than Ashley. Sadly, my ME1 game broke and my saves were corrupted. My only save available to me is the one in which Ashley survived (my crazy biotic b****) She never met the awesomeness that is Kaidan.
