Yeah I forgot about Kaidan/Sheploo conversation.  Only ever did one Sheploo playthrough and that was ages ago, lol
I'd much rather romance him than be his buddy, lol

lol fair enough sesh. i only have one male shep, he was a custom male so of course he's ugly as.  as for romancing kaidan, not one of my fem sheps have resisted the urge , dispite my wanting to keep atleast one of them single.  the only fem shep i have that hasn't romanced kaidan is the ME2 non import shep i made, and i'm hoping i can rectify that in ME3.

I was too lazy to custom make a male Shepard so just went with Sheploo.  Really had to force myself through that playthrough, didn't romance anyone, Ash died on Virmire, and I kept wanting to go and talk to Kaidan, lol
I tried to do a single femshep playthrough but didn't get any further than medbay after Eden Prime, lmao

That's why I never played KOTOR as dark side either.  I could never bring myself to kill Carth or allow him to be killed in front of me.  No way I could go down that path.

Heck, I had a hard enough time doing a playthrough where I sent Kaidan on the away team.  Kimbri (my shep) was distracted and on the point of a panic attack the entire time.  But I wanted to see what happened if you had him do that tower.  I eventually replayed that section so that it was Kaidan with the bomb.  Yeah, Ash gets cheated out of her scene.  But I much prefer Kimbri coming to Kaidan's rescue and hoisting him over her shoulder.

If you go dark side as a female.  There's a mod that restores a third option: let Carth talk you into killing Bastila at the last minute and the both of you die on the Star Forge as the Republic destroys it.  Includes some of the most heartwrenching dialogue in the entire romance!

I've seen that third option on youtube, but never knew you could actually kill him yourself or have him be killed.

My MaleShep romanced Liara and saved Kaidan anyway.  Cos leaving Kaidan on Virmire was never gonna happen!

I just know what I've read.
But if you romance Carth as a female, then Bastilla will have you choose at the end:
You can kill him or she will kill him

There is a deleted scene that wasn't in the final version of the game (there may be mods out there to add it back in, though) where you can instead turn back to the light and kill Bastilla.  You and Carth die in the impending explosion of the station.
