Random question... did any of you ever get Kaidan to say anything in response to "Just trying to get a sense of where the crew's at"? All I ever got was the line about "We'll have time for personal debriefings later"

It's the non-romance path i think, my male shep always used that line for convo's with him.

Aah, I see.  That would explain it.  I always wanted to play through just once with a male Shepard romancing Ashley but never could bring myself to do it.  I just don't care for Mark Meer's voice acting, and watching that Commander Shepard is still a jerk video confirmed that I still wouldn't care for it in ME2.

I agree, IMO his voice acting just doesn't compare to Jennifer Hale's.

Am I the only one that missed my Sheps blue uniform? The colours on the Cerb one were ok if you ignored the stupid logo but I always wanted my blu one back

Definitely not.  I really missed those blue Alliance casual uniforms.  I'd love to see them make a return in ME3 since I'm still crossing my fingers that Shepard will be reinstated in the Alliance.

Yeah, I want my Alliance uniform back too. Never felt right in any of the casual outfits. Alliance unis and go-go dancer moves for ME3!

I figure one of the first things my FemShep does after blowing up the base is rip off, paint over and remove all Cerberus logos from her wardrobe and ship.  :)

Whoooo Hellboy 2 is on, Prince Nuada <3 Okay so no dark and handsome Kaidan but I sure needed to see more yummyness. Going to order food and drool over the yummy prince. Sometimes it's easy to brighten the mood

Okay maybe not so, I need Mass Effect soon or I'll go nuts.

Yep!  I totally imagined that too.  In fact, I think I have a line in my fanfic about "Don't you think I would love to scrub every last Cerberus logo from this ship and come back to the Alliance this very instant?!"

Rebuilding Commander Shepard - 4 billion credits
Building the Normandy SR2- 2 billion credits

I sometimes ponder this... in the first game it's said the SSV Normandy SR-1 cost the Alliance over 120 billion credits. And yet in ME2 the cost of rebuilding Shepard is pointed out as otherwordly and the cost of the SR-2 is not even mentioned (afaik).

Edit: Ooor I'm not sure if that is the price of the ship exactly, or if it was the development project of the Tantalus Drive Core or just the price of the drive core itself and not the entire ship.

... :o
I'm way too easily amused...

Joker: "Hey commander, stop handling that paintbrush like a gun! The Normandy deserves better than that!"

Shep and the crew would repaint it pink and white. Phoenix armour for the ship! Joker would be horrified.

You can get the old uniform back for Shep at least, on the PC with the edited .ini file.

Oh that would sure raise a few eyebrows at the Citadel/Illium/Omega. Imagine Kaidan being at a debriefing at Anderson's office, and Udina comes in and tell them to get to the docking place, and they meet the sight of the crew whistling and painting... :D

Since we are on the subject of fantasy writers, and I always fail to find people who actually have read the books so I'm curious... Anyone familiar with Katherine Kerr's books about Deverry?

Yes. I have most of the series on my bookshelf. I have to confess though I never completed it, by the time I'd got to the eighth book I'd got fed up of trying to keep track of who everyone was through their various lives.

Mrs Templar wrote...

Alright, so one of my random thoughts about Kaidan yesterday involved the picture in FemShep's cabin.  I was wondering how it got there...

In my world Shep went and found the picture herself. It might even have been from the news vids which were going around during the original Normandy's mission - didn't Ashley's sister comment that Kaidan was cute? It looks like the kind of nice-but-neutral picture that the Alliance might have released as publicity material.

I can't imagine that the Cerberus people would have had any hand in putting it there - even if they'd known that Kaidan and Shep were more than friends (and I don't think they would have), the orders would have come down from TIM that they're supposed to be distancing Shep from her previous life. I always distrust Kelly on that basis, I have to say - she seems very sweet and approachable and all, but I always suspect that she's sending reports off on Shep's mental state.

I always wonder if TIM realises how badly he miscalculated with Horizon. My Shep sort of generically distrusted Cerberus after seeing what they'd been up to in ME1, but was willing to believe there might be good people in there as well - after all, it's been two years and things change. That moment when TIM admitted he had deliberately used Kaidan as bait to draw out the Collectors, though - it became personal right there, it really brought it home that as far as TIM was concerned she was just a tool and she was pretty much just waiting for the opportunity to dump him like a spent drive core after that.

I think TIM likes to think that he has Shepard in his pocket after Freedom's Progress. He probably banks on the fact that he was right once, so he'd be right again.

And by flattery he tries to gain Shepard's trust. "You're the only one that can do this." "I led you into the Collector trap because I knew you could handle it".

The mission may come first, but the people Shepard cares about come second. TIM's wishes fall much further down on the list.

I like to think he might possibly have realised it about the time that his precious Collector base became a smoking ruin. Sometimes it's a shame my Shepard is so dignified, I can't give her really snarky lines - certainly I was sitting there in the background cackling away to myself. "Ha, see what happens to people who are mean to Shep and Kai-Kai - their bases get all blowed up!"

And yeah, I could picture Kaidan being a reader of most subjects, but especially military history and fictional novels. Tehehe, I can't help but getting the idea of Kaidan and Joker spending time comparing old sci-fi books to the movie adaptions...

I've read all Katherine Kerr's books including her non-Deverry ones.  She's awesomely good (imho Image IPB).

I also like Janny Wurtz although she tends to write very lengthy angsty novels.

I don't think I've read any of these books myself. I take it their good?

Yes the dreaming god one, I think the last book I read was twilight (again Image IPB) before that Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson, it's ok, I wouldn't rush out to buy it ar anything.

I've heard mixed things about George R MArtin, at least I think it was him, like he kills everone off, not the kind of thing I like really.

Twilight - a name now eternally marred by that Vampire one:lol:

No its a name that ruined Vampires, and made them sparkle . Also crated a age of young girls who want a abusive, stalker boyfriend as their main bf.

Oh... I didn't realise she meant THE actual twilight - I thought it was just a book called twilight in the series that they where on about.

i might be wrong, but i think she meant the actual Twilight book. But I might be wrong, so forgive me.

Yeah I did mean the actual one, not to everyone's taste obviously.  I'll give you stalker but abusive?

Emotionally abusive, and the way he acted.

There are many types of abuse ^^.

While I  liked the author's writing style, I have to agree that overall the messages to young girls weren't all that healthy.  The heroine losing herself in a relationship to the point where she's extremely depressed and no one does anything to help her except worry?  That the only way she comes out of her depression is to lose herself in another relationship?  That somehow the idea that if one doesn't have a boyfriend/relationship one is incomplete is a bit problematic for me.
