Technically, we've had that happen twice. In ME1, we had Virmire. In ME2, Shep has no idea whether Kaidan is on the Collector Ship when it leaves Horizon. I always remember that panic in my pulse up until Kaidan's voice cuts off Delan.

I don't count that. I mean, we didn't HAVE to make a decision like on Virmire! Panic, yes! But a decision where you actually choose who you sent to death? You can't compare this! So we only had this once so far.

We should probably *don't hit me* stop the pictures though before Mr. Woo comes and tells us we're spamming.  This thread has never been shut down for bad behavior before.  Would be a shame to break that trend.

:?

So... seeing as how you can completely develop Kaidan's skills to whim, riddle me this: Medic or Bastion?  ^_^

If I could develop his abilities on whim I wouldn't have to wait in traffic.  Cars would mysteriously "lift" out of the way as I innocently drove by wondering what happened.

Horizon was a carefully laid trap by at least the Illusive Man (if not the Alliance as well) that cost over half the colony their lives and put the life of either your good friend or lover at risk. All so that the Collectors would get lured out.

That pretty much equates to just as bad as Virmire, even without the decision that I had to choose to leave someone behind.

My hope for Kaidan and Ashley is that they truly become heroes in their own right, out from under Shepard's shadow.  I hope this doesn't end in their dying pointless deaths to prove how heroic they are.

I also think it would be nice if they cinematically saved Shepard for once, also without dying a pointless death by doing so and thus fulfilling their "important role" for ME3.

This is exactly what I was just thinking. I would love this to happen in me3.
Its really going to be interesting to see his interaction with Shepard now hes no longer serving under her and there on equal footing, no more protocol. He was angry yeah but the more assertive side to Kaidan was nice to see

to be honest I never felt panic at Virmire, to me there was no decision, lol.  Kaidan was never going to be the one left behind.  I did panic about Horizon though after seeing him get paralysed by the seeker swarm (granted Shep didn't see that).  first playthrough I was yelling at my monitor and planning on doing a big rescue before I found out that he didn't get taken, lol.

I second that!

Also, uploaded both pictures of Kaidan's uniform on another guy on Ilium

Yeah I spotted that armour on Ilium and made a beeline for that guy to see if it was Kaidan, lol.  I even checked out every single person sitting in the darkstar lounge on the Citadel in case one of them was Kaidan having drinks with the doctor, lmao

Oh, okay, I get it. For a minute there, I thought I'd missed some dialogue somewhere. Medic Kaidan would be kinda yummy though. ;)

Well... if I'm not mistaken, he is the only character (apart from Shepard) that has First Aid as a skill, isn't he?  (So... field medic, more than doctor, but still... :innocent:)

I'd say more of a field medic, not a doctor.  He joined the Alliance when he was like 22 as a marine so I don't really think there was time between BAaT and that.  Posted Image

I actually thought they might have been trying to get rid of the ME1 LI's with the whole Horizon scene, and the fact they made Liara so totally different. They probably thought we'd all rush the ME2 LI's in a fit of anger after Horizon, because we all know that Jacob, Garrus, and Thane were so 'compelling'. I will be incredibly pissed if thats the case and will not buy the game if I can't get my Shep/Kaidan happy ending.

Remember that this is a trillogy.  The middle act is always darkest.  You think that they are going to put a nice, happy reunion with the ME1 LI in the middle of that?  No.  Shepard has to feel more desperate and alone.  Also, storywise, if she is tempted to move on then that gives more fuel to the story of ME3 with the 1 LI.

Plus, some people may not have liked the 2 choices given in ME1 or don't care about cheating.  So they would want a new option.  (Crazy, I know, when there's Kaidan).  Don't panic.  They have promised continuing the storyline with the ME1 LI in 3.  But remember that our collective imaginations are deeper than theirs.  So after 3 or so years of us waiting our expectations are likely going to be too high to be adequately satisfy (The Phantom Menace, anyone?)

  Aslan
Garrus, Thane and Jacob where compelling? They are good characters but majority of my femsheps stayed loyal to Kaidan or Liara.

Garrus had potential that fell flat, IMO.  Too much of friends with benefits than anything deeper.
Jacob?  No interest whatsoever.
Thane?  Yeah.  I liked him.  (That will be my choice with my new Shepard--so that I have a character that I can see what that does to the storyline in 3.)  Thane has some depth to him and seems sincere in his affection for Shepard.  But he is another character that is a little bit "broken" for the female character to have to "fix."
One of the wonderful things about Kaidan is that he's not broken.  Hurt in ME2, yes.  But, as he says in 1, he doesn't need anyone to fix him.

@ Kaidan as a Spectre:  I dunno.  I could see them doing it, but it just doesn't quite seem to fit.  Even the paragon Shepard has a good amount of renegade in her.  Kaidan's much more "boyscout" about his line of duty.
I want Kaidan and Shepard to be equals.  That's one of the things I'm coming to find out that I really like about what has happened in ME2 for him.  The two years have made him independent and stronger.  He's not just going to follow Shepard around like a puppy because she says so.
But I don't want them to be identical either.  I think that there needs to be a little diversity there--he's still Alliance officer and she's Spectre but they are able to work together--also then there is not chain of command problems.

Good morning Shenzi and Jade.

Personally, I can't see BW making Shepard equal with any LI. I think they'll always maintain some level of "Shepard is better"....I'd like to be proven wrong, of course. :-)

I really have played a lot of ME2 lately....I'm on my 4th playthrough.
1st PT was faithful to Kaidan!
2nd PT was romancing Thane
3rd PT was romancing Garrus
4th PT is romancing Garrus but started romancing Jacob first to get the Garrus lines so I can make videos of that. Seriously, Jacob is a jerk!

Thane: romancing him was really sweet. I loved how he told Shep that he's come to care about her.
Garrus: This just makes me giggle all the time because Garrus is just awesome. I love his voice, the way he jokes, the bond between him and Shepard. I adore him! I actually adore Thane and Garrus and I am glad, that there is the chance to romance them and I have to disagree with everyone who says that Garrus-Shepard is just friends with benefits and nothing deeper. I think there is way more than that. It just starts out as a playful thing and I think, Garrus both are surprised to see that it's actually more than just blowing off steam. What's better than a a true friendship turning into love? *looks around*

As for Jacob: :sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick::sick: *nuff said*

I adore Cliff Simon!!!! Sexy beast he is although Baal tortured Jack really bad but hey, at least both of them looked hawt! OMG Baal can do this anytime to me.....a Goa'uld with glowing eyes and a knife while I am all tied up....oops, where did my mind go? *looks into gutter*

What video software do you want to buy? If you say Adobe Premiere, I'll poison your Earl grey *makes jealous face* I always made do with Ulead Video Studio in the past years. God, I made so many Stargate videos, you have no idea. Now I'm just using the crappy Windows Movie Maker....*someone hand me a bucket I wanna barf* - that thing doesn't even deserve to have the word "MOVIE" in its name.

I have to disagree here about the ME2 LI's
Garrus - apart from the stress relief crap, the scene in Shepard's cabin is cringeworthy.  It makes me uncomfortable just watching it on youtube.  Its all cheese and sleaze.
Jacob - well I think we all agree on this one, lol.  It was the line about Miranda needing a better man than him rather than the prize line that turned me off Jacob, apart from Sheps voice when she was talking to him, lol.
Thane - this romance moved too fast.  Shep helps him with his son and suddenly he's in love with her.  For me it felt like a pity hump on Shep's part cause he was dying.  And because he was dying he was clutching at the first person to ever actually talk to him, so I could never see it as a romance or love.  I like the guy but I didn't see anything that exciting there that I wanted to romance him.
None of them felt like they grew from the same mutual respect that the Kaidan romance had.  They were all far too cheesy to interest me and I'll be really peeved if they turn the Kaidan romance into cheese in ME3.

Jacob is actually a Jerk! Not even for his "Miranda" line or his "priiiiize" but all the dialogues I went through with him. Yes I made saves before every dialogue and then checked out ALL options. Quite interesting and sometimes VERY barf-able! He's just plain RUDE....the way he talks about Thane or Garrus is ....I want to punch him.

Garrus....really? see I think it's a good thing that tastes are different. I really don't think it is cheese and sleaze! not one bit.

Thane: Have to disagree again! I don't see where it's moving too fast. You do his loyalty mission....then he makes his confession where he drops the Siha word.....then the next dialogue you can ask him about what Siha means and he tells you that he's come to care about you. He doesn't tell you that he loves you, but he tells you that you did something that woke him up. I don't see where this is moving fast. It's not like he's all over you but he definitely has finally found some reason to 'not just wait for his death' I really liked that.

Jacob is still :sick::sick::sick::sick::sick:

From a guy's perspective....

imo, Jacob is the worst romance I have ever encountered (other games and MOVIES included). Shepard isn't doing a good job there either, though imo.

I have never seen more than a friend in Garrus and never persued his romance - watched a YT vid of it, though. Meh ^^

And I could never really talk to Thane, as I've said before in this thread. Those flashbacks....ugh. If they'd done them in a different way it would've been better....it just doesn't work for me, for certain reasons.

Jacob is still :sick::sick::sick::sick::sick:

I didn't find Jacob that bad if you just pursue a friendship, drinks at the Citadel type line with him.  sure he has a lot of character flaws and he's a bit of a glory hound but I can understand his concerns about having an assassin watch your back (alistair had the same reaction to Zev in DAO but it didn't make him Posted Image, lol).  The Jacob romance was all shep's doing.  I got the feeling that he really wasn't that interested and it was Shep that was forcing the issue when I saw it on youtube.
Thane is just grateful that you helped his son and helped get them talking again.  He would be better off trying to spend his remaining time with Kolyat rather than trying to get his rocks off.  Shepard is no better though, she comes on pretty strong to all of them.  Given that she's just woken up, so for her its not like 2 years have passed, and was supposedly in love with Kaidan it didn't take her long to move on and Kaidan's better off without someone that shallow and fickle.
