Oh, okay, I get it. For a minute there, I thought I'd missed some dialogue somewhere. Medic Kaidan would be kinda yummy though.
Well... if I'm not mistaken, he is the only character (apart from Shepard) that has First Aid as a skill, isn't he? (So... field medic, more than doctor, but still... :innocent:)
I'd say more of a field medic, not a doctor. He joined the Alliance when he was like 22 as a marine so I don't really think there was time between BAaT and that.

I actually thought they might have been trying to get rid of the ME1 LI's with the whole Horizon scene, and the fact they made Liara so totally different. They probably thought we'd all rush the ME2 LI's in a fit of anger after Horizon, because we all know that Jacob, Garrus, and Thane were so 'compelling'. I will be incredibly pissed if thats the case and will not buy the game if I can't get my Shep/Kaidan happy ending.
Remember that this is a trillogy. The middle act is always darkest. You think that they are going to put a nice, happy reunion with the ME1 LI in the middle of that? No. Shepard has to feel more desperate and alone. Also, storywise, if she is tempted to move on then that gives more fuel to the story of ME3 with the 1 LI.
Plus, some people may not have liked the 2 choices given in ME1 or don't care about cheating. So they would want a new option. (Crazy, I know, when there's Kaidan). Don't panic. They have promised continuing the storyline with the ME1 LI in 3. But remember that our collective imaginations are deeper than theirs. So after 3 or so years of us waiting our expectations are likely going to be too high to be adequately satisfy (The Phantom Menace, anyone?)

Garrus, Thane and Jacob where compelling? They are good characters but majority of my femsheps stayed loyal to Kaidan or Liara.
Garrus had potential that fell flat, IMO. Too much of friends with benefits than anything deeper.
Jacob? No interest whatsoever.
Thane? Yeah. I liked him. (That will be my choice with my new Shepard--so that I have a character that I can see what that does to the storyline in 3.) Thane has some depth to him and seems sincere in his affection for Shepard. But he is another character that is a little bit "broken" for the female character to have to "fix."
One of the wonderful things about Kaidan is that he's not broken. Hurt in ME2, yes. But, as he says in 1, he doesn't need anyone to fix him.
@ Kaidan as a Spectre: I dunno. I could see them doing it, but it just doesn't quite seem to fit. Even the paragon Shepard has a good amount of renegade in her. Kaidan's much more "boyscout" about his line of duty.
I want Kaidan and Shepard to be equals. That's one of the things I'm coming to find out that I really like about what has happened in ME2 for him. The two years have made him independent and stronger. He's not just going to follow Shepard around like a puppy because she says so.
But I don't want them to be identical either. I think that there needs to be a little diversity there--he's still Alliance officer and she's Spectre but they are able to work together--also then there is not chain of command problems.
