Maybe they'll break Ashley and Kaidan's stories apart again for ME3. There have been other games that have two characters that you can't recruit at once (Star Ocean 2, for example).
... probably not, though.
As far as I recall all the Star Ocean games work this way, 'The Last Hope', has only one character choice though, that you can replace one character with another at a specific trigger point in the game.

I think it is the only possible way that BioWare could keep ALL the fans happy. Choose between, say - Miranda and Jack, or Kaidan and Jacob, Liara and Samara/Morinth and so on......
It certainly would be in keeping with the whole choice and consequence thing they keep telling us we have
If you had eight slots who would be your 'dream team'?
I'd have
1) Kaidan (no brainer on that one)
2) Liara (even though reave is an amazing ability)
3) Thane
4) Wrex
5) Mordin
6) Kasumi (but with dialogue)
7) Zaeed (as above)
8) Eh, I guess I would go with Garrus for old time's sake

I think that's it

but I do waver on some of them! I don't suppose they will do that (far too much tracking etc.) but it would be interesting having total control. Or if they made (like Jacob and Miranda) the first couple of slots non optional as Kaidan/Ash and Liara and allowed freedom of choice with other characters in which case I would add Samara and Grunt (or Jack) Tali would be encouraged back to the migrant fleet with a letter for Kal Reeger, lol!
Have I put too much thought into this?
