I would love to go back and help Kaidan, too :)

But what would happened if maybe billions of living creatures would die because this decisions...

Because I put my own happiness first and I know it ... Will I´ll be happy... What´s about Kaidan can he be happy with this knowledge? Both ways it´s horrible and I do not want to imagine it happening...

Sorry, when I sound so serious... maybe it´s just because I'm in a real bad mood today...

@Baal....That is a hard question :? I guess if I put myself in Shepards' shoes as much as it would hurt me I would have to leave Kaidan. Though in my heart I would really hate it. I would have to do what is best for the galaxy because, that is what Kaidan would want me to do. I mean I've already sacraficed Ash for us to be together, and I don't think he would be to happy with Shepard if she sacraficed the entire galaxy. Besides if this information gives us the edge that we need to defeat the Reapers then that gets us closer to our Happily Ever After...hopefullyPosted Image

I think in the abstract that's how you have to try to look at things.  If you have no other reference other than one/few vs. many, then you have to go with "many."

But there's only so much that a person can give up and still be human.  Shepard already had to make a choice between a friend and a lover.  She had to choose leaving her relatioship at an almost platonic level for her duty.  She had to make a choice of teaming up with a group she hates or the universe.  She lets Kaidan go on Horizon because she had a duty to perform.  She risks her life in a suicide mission once again for her duty.
Just by being what she is, she is giving up a "normal" life with a husband, children, safety, security, etc.

How much more can be asked of her and her retain her humanity?  I think this may be what Jenova is getting at.
Asking to let Kaidan die?  I think that would cross a line, break something crucial within her.  At least with my Shep it would.  He's her moral compass--even when he's not there.  In ME2 she asked herself what Kaidan would want her to do.  I don't think she would be the same person if her were taken out of her world permanently.

I do believe that Kaidan is perhaps the best moral compass in the game and always tries to do the right thing, even when it meant going against the Council and stealing the Normandy!

And remember the way the scenario is set up.

Kaidan's wound looks bad, but you don't know.

And the target you are following might have intel that might help. But its not a guarantee--that it will help or that you couldn't get it another way.

If it were more concrete: You defeat the Reapers or Kaidan lives--that would be different. Easier. You'd have to make the right choice there.

But this is more nebulous--purposely so I'm sure. I'd make sure Kaidan was okay so we both would fight another day.

Honestly, I think if died, my Kimbri would snap. She'd still go after the Reapers but her Paragon nature would be destroyed. She'd probably cut the corners she never would have previously. She wouldn't be looking for the "way out" she wouldn't want one anymore.

@ Jade.... I do believe you are correct that if Shep was made to choose between Kaidan and the galaxy something in her would snap. Hell I think my Shep is already there. No one has sacraficed as much as Shep has for the galaxy and no one is really appreciative of it. Everyone wants something from Shep but, no on seems to give her anything back.

I know everyone says thank you after their loyalty mission but, sometimes thank you just isn't enough. It would have been nice that when you finally completed the suicide mission that they would have allowed you to see your LI because, I know my Shep really needed a shoulder after that mission Posted Image

@ Baal the question is to leave Kaidan behind ..

I thnk you check on him and assess the cituation first.... no matter who the soldier is you need to see if your soldier will survive - so you check the wounds first ... do any quick patch up you can and then go... if it turns out the soldier will die without immediate attention, you have to save the solder... that is where the humanity part comes in...

Now she may check him and decide that he is not badly injured and decide to go on and he may still die, but at least she checked first and did her best and I think she would be able to live with that better then if she just took his word that he was okay... knowing that people lie cause they don't want you to worry. I do know that I would check to make sure he was okay before I went on... but once I was sure he was stable I would go on... if he couldn't be made stable ... I let the contact go... but then I would be twice as determined to get him the next time...

IMHO of course...

That was one of the things that disturbed me in ME2.  I felt like some of the team in ME1 was there for her--Ashley, Liara and obviously Kaidan.
In ME2 the squad members all wanted something from her--to finish up their loose ends in life. But no one cares about hers.  Not even those I would count as her friends.  Garrus not talking to her about Kaidan after Horizon bothered me especially.  At that point in the game, he was the only squad member Kimbri counted as a friend.  She needed to talk to someone (not Chambers  Posted Image) and he completely dropped the ball.  Joker asked, but didn't really want her real answer.  He just didn't want her screwed up for the mission.  Chakwas has nothing to say either.  She was all alone--just as TIM has intended.  Posted Image

@Nighttodie:
I agree with your solution--that would be the best one.  I just got the feeling from SystemLord that we couldn't do both.  But that would be optional.  I have no doubt that Kaidan would lie to her about how serious his wound was.  I know that even if Kimbri were to decide to leave him without checking, she would be too distracted.  I think she'd not be too effective and possibly put herself and the mission in danger anyways.  (I know this from putting Kaidan on the other team on Virmire--it wasn't good for her state of mind.)

@ sirius: the ff thing...was actually me pulling the chapter about 4 times because i kept changing my mind on the ending. >< i felt like such a dork, but then i just picked an ending and went with it. i was like...TIM was a little nice and Alliance was nice...or both evil? couldn't decide. anyhow, in the end i didn't change a thing and just ended up spamming all of the subscribers. (sorry! sorry!)

So seeing as they added combat dialogue for shooting your companions in ME2...

... what would Kaidan have to say about being accidentally shot in the back of the head by Shepard?  :P

"D*mn!" (i loved the way he said that on eden prime when you shot the balloon things
"Careful, commander." (boring, but sounds like Kaidan)
"I put up my barrier for a reason, commander."

she learned in ME2 that "saving the galaxy" doesn't signify much to her personally when she's lost the only thing in it that gives that victory meaning.

this.

but @ baal:  ah....do we loose kaidan? honestly, if he was hurt, but alive, i would be tempted to go on. i'm unclear how safe a place you're leaving him in.  if, say, the wound leaves him vulnerable at the end mission (like the way tali is not as strong as legion in the vents and you have less time to get her through) THAT would be interesting: you can defeat reapers either way but either you're watching out for kaidan b/c he has a wound OR the final fight is that much harder...

but somehow, i think the decisions will likely be the playing out of stuff from before. the choices i worry about are: rachni, genophage, heretics. not sure if i did the right thing there....

What would you do in this situation? (no with one Shepard this and with the other that - what would YOU do in Shepard's place).

and a second question, would you like a situation like this in ME3? or do you think Virmire and Horizon was enough and BW should leave Kaidan alone^^
Also, do you expect a situation like this in ME3 regardless of what you may want?

hm, I guess that was enough to kick off a discussion^^

marines leave no man behind, especially such a fine one, so i'd stay.

i've had enough.  i'd prefer to focus on reapers alone and not sacrificing another crew member.

i do expect a situation similar to the one you described.  hopefully bioware will surprise me.

@ Jade: I agree with you... Femshep was really alone in ME2... I hoped more from Garrus or Dr Chakwas, too... But BW refused to give us more dialogue about Horizon. My femshep would have been happy, if there would have been a shoulder to lean on for a little moment... The same after the suicide mission... It would have been nice to have had a friendly shoulder to lean on, to get some strength back...Just to imagine all that things she had to go through... All the responsibilty etc...

And that is the reason my Shepard ended up in the bath room at that cub at the citadel. She will soon need AA meetings

morning everyone...

@sage - no need to apologize. i just found it comical.

@asian - considering the bond the crew formed over the course of the first game, i desperately wanted extra dialogue with garrus, tali, joker, chakwas and anderson.

@lisa - femshep getting smashed was a highlight for me.

Hi Aslan -- not such a great start to the day; had a fishpond accident and lost half my koi including my favorite - a very large and friendly butterfly koi named Kwan Lin. :(

Back OT -- did only a quick read/catch up, but certainly in regards to Kaidan or any team member, my Shep has a no one left behind policy. If she had to make a choice? Well, she did that on Virmire and I can't see her leaving Kaidan behind under any circumstances.

I totally agree with you on Kaidan. My Shepard would not be willing to lose him another time.

And I'm sorry to hear about your fish, Star. We used to have Koi when I was younger and lost them due to a surprisingly hard winter. It always sucks to lose pets - no matter if they are furry or scaley.

You can get Shepard smashed?  Posted Image  I didn't know that.  Just the batarian that poisons her on Omega.
I usually order one drink and move on.
The next playthrough, Kara is going to the Citadel after Horizon...

@ Liara content?  Cool.  Kaidan next PLEASE

i do not think there will be a virmire survivor dlc.  there's no guarantee every gamer would purchase additional content so the developers essentially have to tailor it to be unrelated to the main story of me3.

@jade - Drunk Shepard
