I'm not expecting to see Kaidan in the DLC, if he is I'll be pleasantly surprised but I've learned the hard way not to get my hopes up.

Even an unanswerable email would be great, but we most likely won't get that much.

I will be playing the Liara DLC with a tiny spark of hope that there is some mention of the Virmire Survivor, but I know rationally that it's a very slim chance.

As for the Thane discussion, I agree with the thought that romancing a man who may die when you've just gotten out of a relationship with another guy is tacky.  So personally, unless I had a single character set aside, I wouldn't attempt it.  I also *hate* the idea that Bioware created a character who abandoned his wife and child, and then abandoned his child AGAIN when his wife died, and they say that they made him for the ladies.  I can understand the idea of a character who has made lots of mistakes, and needs to atone, but leaving your kid behind isn't something I can get past.  Maybe I'm too sensitive as a mom...

Anyway, no more analyzing other LIs, I don't want to offend anyone...

(Not to be mean to the Liara fans, I normally think she's adorable, but she gets a bit repetitive in the post-mission briefings if you pick her up first.)

My Liara-romancing Shep was highly traumatized by being ignored on Illium too, so I hope the Shadow Broker DLC is good.

My guess is that localisation isn't profitable for EA or we're thrid world counties and nobody cares.
Well I wouldn't mind if we were assured it will be compatibile with our version. But while buying the game were not even warned we won't be able to play in English (INT) version without tinkering in few game files (I play with English dub.+Polish sub.). There is no in-game option to change between language.

In Germany there only the PC version had the option to change the language (before the installation). XBox version was German only.

If it's "just" a localisation problem, I'd say they'll at least release the English version of it if possible.

I am not trying to point the finger at anyone or accuse the person I quoted of this.  I am merely pointing something out.  I am afraid I am not as elequant or diplomatic in my way of speaking/thinking as other people.

Yes, as I've said, Kaidan is awesome and one of the rougher romances. You're not getting punished, you're being tested. Plot wise, this is how Bioware feels the story should go with the ME1 LI right now. Perhaps I should have worded what I said better but please don't take it as a petty, jealousy type thing. I don't think too many people would have thrown a jealousy fit if Kaidan, Ashley, or Liara had rejoined the group. I know I wouldn't have cared. They are pre-existing characters after all and ME2 LI are overall secodary except for Tali and Garrus. I don't see many people getting mad about Tali and Garrus having existed since the first game, but they were minor characters in the first. I wouldn't have cared either way and was surprised at the time of my first playing that Kaidan wasn't joining.

This thread was discussing and comparing other romances and a person in particular I felt misunderstood part of the dialogue with Thane. I just wanted to clarify that Shepard doesn't respond like she's going to rape Thane, sorry. I never said he was better than Kaidan, I'm not here to promote Thane. I was actually avoiding saying anything about the romance despite several commits against him, but most of those comments were about appearance and simply not liking the romance. People have the right to see Thane as the creature from the black lagoon with a fast romance. I did say I prefered him for my Shepard. Kaidan just doesn't work right for the personality in my head I have for Shepard. Nothing more.

I still love Kaidan. I do believe this isn't a Kaidan only as a love interest thread right? Can't Kaidan be a buddy? Or am I wrong. Should I get out now before I'm pummuled for wanting to keep him in the friend zone. I just want to get other perspectives on his personality is all.

There are plenty of people on the thread who like Kaidan as a pal. Most of them are guys, but I have at least one Shepard I'm trying to keep him in the friendzone for.

Please don't think this is an LI only thread.

I like Thane as a squadmate and friend.. I don't like him as a LI - and yes I am the It's a lizard person...But as you said it's a personal choice.



That said all my Shepards stay loyal to Kaidan... but I think that my Shepards would look at Thane as a very good friend.

I thought you made a great point regarding Thane's romance, and the way they're developing a longer story-arc for the ME1 LI's. And yes, this is supposed to be a Kaidan thread for all players, not just the romance. (And I try not to bash the other characters, but I guess frustration levels are high, with no new info incoming until ME3, and the thread does get a bit negative, sorry about that. Well, except for complaining about Jacob's romance, cause no one can figure out what BioWare was trying to do with that one. ^_~)

Okay, Kaidan was exposed to eezo in utero, that's how he got his biotics. Do all humans react to the exposure? I know there can be medical difficulties regarding the exposure, like terminal cancer, probably other nasty bits. Everything I've read in the Wiki so far says that humans can only be biotics if they're exposed in utero, but it says nothing about what the exposure does to the mother.

Would Kaidan's mother have had any long/short term effects from the exposure?

Unfortunately, it's never said.   Maybe they're sterile afterwards?

@TZ: Concerning Thane leaving his child behind - seeing that his wife got killed because of him (basically) I can understand it. Keeping his child at a distance might be his way to keep him safe, or at least trying to. Additionally, having those flashbacks around his son, about assassinations might not be very supportive to Thane's plan to keep him as far away from his footsteps as possible (not that it worked as we all know).

Is it the best way, maybe not, but I can understand his motives - or at least the way I interpret him.



Oh and one thing that came to my mind - I know it is childish, but some part of me would love to cross paths with Rhana (once Shepard and Kaidan are back together) and parade (in a very subtle way) that lovely specimen of a man in front of her, telling her without words 'And you could have had this... he's mine now!'

I know Rhana shouldn't be much of an issue anymore, but I just can't forgive her for hurting Kaidan.... that's all and my randomness just turns off and I'll try to go and drown myself in coffee.

I've come across a couple fics that assumed sterility, or other fertility complications. (Not that necessarily makes much sense, as lots of things are bad for babies and don't do much to their moms, but... *shrugs*)



I have problems with this theory because Kaidan seems so much like a big brother personality wise. Not completely sure why he strikes me that way, but he does. (And I think I vaguely recall chem agreeing w/me, so at least we're not alone?)
