I can see that, but I'm *sure* there are people who looked at the night with Kaidan as a fling, and wanted to move on whether or not the Horizon scene happened. He's just not the right type for everyone.
For my main Shepard, she cared deeply for him (loved, even if she never said it!), and understood that he was someone who wouldn't take spending the night together lightly. And since she basically feels the same way as he does about Cerberus (and might have made the same accusations if she were in his shoes), she can't blame him for what he said on Horizon. Right now she only can hope that they'll get a chance to talk, and make things right later.
As a player, though, my own feelings about how the game railroads Shepard into working for Cerberus definitely colors the way I look at the ME2 LIs, and the Horizon scene. I *can't* judge the Virmire Survivor for being the only character who expresses the doubt that I feel that everyone around you should have. So even if the romances had been perfect for me in every other way, I probably would have felt resentment towards the characters, and not been interested in doing the romance anyway.
So basically Bioware has pushed me into staying faithful. I guess I'm lucky that Kaidan is the best video game boyfriend EVER.

well, i would have agreed, but you know, having played horizon umpteen times recently fried my brain into thinking that it's also possible he didn't understand shep. he doesn't stop to find out what she's doing or why. he really does just get angry and leave, then write a "maybe." i see a lot of pain behind that, but it doesn't make his behavior right, nor does it take away the fact that he left. he left. as in him.
i think given what shep is up against, with little to no support from old allies either, it's very understandable if she decides kaidan is a jerk and moves on. it's not to say she never cared for him or understood him past tense - she just doesn't care or understand as much now. perhaps kaidan does deserve better, but so does she.
however, if she is able to care and understand, even now, then she can perhaps wait it out until she sees him. either she's waiting to see if the next reunion is better, or she's just waiting to tackle him and drag him back to the ship.
either way, i have to say that after playing multiple times and seeing multiple LI conclusions on youtube and in fanfic, i really can't condemn any one choice outright without knowing what the shep's motivations for it were. some sheps seem to be doing a "well i hate you TOO" sort of thing, which i just find childish, frankly. but there are also some pretty good justifications for moving on as well which are more mature, understandable, and reasonable.

See this is the attitude I just don't get. I shouldn't be penalised by having Kaidan non existant in ME2 just to satisfy the petty jealousy of other people (because someone might actually get more screen time in game), who either a) chose not to romance Kaidan and miss out on how awesome he is for whatever reason, orwere so shallow and fickle that they dropped their pants for the first person who looked at them because Kaidan had the audacity to raise his voice and stick to his principles rather than follow Shepard blindly.
I'd also like to point out that this is actually the Kaidan thread and whilst we do discuss other LI's in comparison to Kaidan, I think that if you want to tell everyone how great you think a particular LI is (other than Kaidan), then you should take it to the appropriate thread.
I am not trying to point the finger at anyone or accuse the person I quoted of this. I am merely pointing something out. I am afraid I am not as elequant or diplomatic in my way of speaking/thinking as other people.

I love this thread, but sometimes the borderline bashing of other LIs, and certain Sheps, makes me a sad panda. Everyone has their preferences and if we all agreed on everything, it’d be boring. But please just keep in mind that some of us really like the ME2 LIs, as well. If they’re not your cup of tea, that’s totally cool – but think about how you feel when someone calls Kaidan whiny or boring when you’re using terms such as sleazy and shallow to describe other romances and Sheps.
I never ever get tired of seeing that picture. That really captures the essence of ME2 so beautifully. I am spoiled by seeing images of Kaidain in that armor. I really hope he's wearing something like that in ME3, lol.siriusrambles wrote...

It upsets me when someone says "oh, they can die so BW won't waste resources on them in ME3" because even though all my femSheps are loyal to Kaidan I think even if only ONE femShep out there really likes Jacob they should get their happy ending too. Just please don't make me talk to him in a phone sex operator voice.

I never even considered Jacob's romance even before I heard any details about it. After hearing Shep's voice the first time she asked Jacob to tell her about himself I hit reload and never went near that dialogue option again.
Gosh. I didn't think about it that concretely before.JaerWolfe wrote...
In order to get that you would need to have individual endings for each LI for both MShep & FShep. That is most of the teams from ME1 & ME2 and whoever they add for ME3. That will never happen. It's too expensive and this game is not marketed as a dating sim. The best you will get is the caption card endings from DAO. Considering that FemShep is already shafted in the resource department, we would be lucky to get that.
I hold slim hope to the 'big payoff' for those who stayed faithful, but I am realistic enough to understand that the best HEA I get may be what I write on my own.

But I hope that the ME1 LI's that have been part of the story since the start will get preferential treatment here and get a more fleshed out ending.
Because we wanted to make sure the love interest can remain an important and integral part of the story, we want that to continue into the third game. We have some really important things we want to resolve there. That means we can't have these characters that were your love interests in this suicide mission potentially getting killed and then blocking off that opportunity. They're part of the story. They're part of the ongoing love story but they're not your squad members so that we can be sure that we can bring that love story to its conclusion."

I just hold onto this quote:

They are referring to the ME1 LI here as being an integral part of the story. The ME2 characters weren't conceived for that. This is what I hold onto for Ash, Liara, and Kaidan to get special treatment for their love stories in ME3.
