I wouldn't be surprised if Kaidan's Dad was an engineer. I could see Kaidan going into the tech side of thing to earn his father's approval. it would be nice if we can learn a bit more about Kaidan's family. All we know is that his father served and then retired to vancouver before the first contact war.

For some reason, I thought he might have been a pilot or a navigator.  I also thought he might've been doing it just as a job or for the benefits and not actually made a career out of it.  I don't think there's any indication of what he did, though, other than retire (before the war?).

I always thought it was interesting that Kaidan has both tech and medic skills.  So perhaps his dad could be either/both (Doctor/Engineer) also?  He's definitely has had something to prove to somebody, most likely his dad, so his father probably did well in whatever position he had.

Even though daddy issues are played out as far as loyalty missions, I would love to just have a conversation with Kaidan about his family.  It doesn't *have* to lead to a mission to save a family member, dammit!!!!

I thought he might've tried to go to school for pre-med after killing Vyrnnus (in some sense, to prove that he was not a murderer), then decided it wasn't what he wanted.  I figured his tech skills were an merely extension of his interests.

I agree with the general consensus that Kaidan's dad was an engineer. I don't get the impression that he reached a very high rank though because Kaidan did comment that he impressed his dad eventually.

Yeah, Kaidan seems very interested in tech/engineering so it might've been something he inherited maybe? And I do wonder what Kaidan did in those years between the closing of BAAT and his joining the Alliance. I know he took the time to reflect on his life, but I wonder what made him want to join the Alliance.

kaidan's dad struck me as rough around the edges but a softy on the inside. possibly a job dealing with military tactics.



when kaidan mentions biotics not being restricted but they don't go undocumented so he may as well get a paycheck for it as his initial reason for joining the alliance.

Also, I remember him saying that he came back on his own terms because he wanted to serve, so I think his joining the Alliance was largely because he wanted to do some good and make a difference etc.
