Someone posted a poll on a few Mass Effect forums, including over here.  I wish I had thought of linking it here, maybe Kaidan would have gotten more love.  But eh, whatever.  It's not the first popularity poll in which Kaidan came in low or at the bottom.  As long as Bioware gives him a good role in ME3, I don't care what the rest of the internet thinks of him (just don't bring the hate in here ).

I don't actually see him with either. Ashley seemed too young and Liara not adventurous enough.



ETA:  though he does apparently tell MShep that MShep saw Liara first only by a few seconds.  So I guess my final answer is Liara.

Ashley. Between her sister's teasing and the "adventurous women" category, I think they're kinda set up together in case of Liara-Shepard romance. Which kinda makes Virmire even more hurtful than it already is.



If you ask him about Liara as a FemShep and aren't romancing him, he says he has no intentions and that it's simply "art appreciation." Then again, since Shepard has to kinda turn him down to get to that point... *shrug?*

True.
But I don't know that he would involve himself with anyone else on the ship.  Its not his ususal style.  Ash could possibly be a good match for him--keep him on his toes, call him on the carpet when need be.  But she's a subordinate and in under his command.  He wouldn't go there.
We've discussed this before, but even Shepard he likely wouldn't have made a move on if she were under his command rather than the reverse.

No, but Ashley might make the move if she were interested.  But I could see them both being attracted to one another but never getting the chance to feel it out (or even know that the attraction was mutual) before Virmire.
