Ah.  Carth and Revan.  I'll have to try that one.  Playing KOTOR currently.  Can't bring myself to go back to ME2 right now.  Too little Kaidan and too much heartbreak.

Same here.  And the same with KotOR 2.  I thought, given what an awesome sequel BGII was, that I would never be putting ME2 in the same category as KotOR 2, which I thought was a huge disappointment because of the general sparseness of continuity, but there you have it.  But if nothing else, we will always have ME1 and KotOR1.  They can't take those back, or the hours and hours of entertainment they have given my muse.

In my own personal canon, KOTOR II doesn't exist.  WHY would Revan leave the hottest man in that galaxy?  WHY?  And the "romances" are abysmal.  Plus, it is my understanding that since TOR is Bioware and KOTOR II was not, they may be ignoring a lot of KOTOR II canon anyways.

@Shenzi:  The Kindle and the ipad are too large for my tastes at this point.  Although, I do end up running my phone batter down a lot.  Posted Image

Why are we Kaidan bashing in the Kaidan thread?

Just wondering.

I don't know that its Kaidan-bashing
Just depression about how the scene goes down.
Odd.  My take on Horizon varies so much.  About a week ago, it was hard, but I liked it (from a continuing story perspective).  Now it depresses the hell out of me.  I don't want him to turn his back on her and leave her.  Posted Image

Time to go to bed and read more of sage's part 3.
G'nite all

EDIT:  Top of page.  Need photo
Kaidan gets pink armor for leaving her on Horizon

Oh he better be more than just a quest giver/cameo. Or.. I'll do something.

I won't buy the game.  Period.  I'll pirate it:devil:

Seriously, that would suck so hard.  I'm already angry my favorite characters are sidelined, badly OOC, and a dying Frog.  They need to fix it! :(

Horizon was an obvious plot hammer.

Since three is years away no point getting sad. Unless Liara gets turned into the only LI from 1 with a decent part, and Kaidan and Ash are left in the dust. again.

I've gotten to the point where I've quit blaming Kaidan for Horizon. Hell, I never did.

It's the writers' fault for not knowing how to write their own characters and giving the VS a legitimate reason for not going with Shepard. The whole scene was OOC.

Plot armour is nice and all, but seriously cut out Jacob, Zaeed, and Kasumi then give those resources to the VS to actually get something better than an email that took 5 minutes.

Every time I trust bioware they just prove that EA is buying up their soul ever more.

I also effing hate the fact that Bioware was lazy enough to leave Kaidan in Phoenix armor. What. The. Hell.

Fort is right, though, it really is the bad writing, not Kaidan's fault, of course.

G'night, Jade!

@Reverie: Only if you say so. Stellar, no grammatical faults, on meters that would make the literary giants of old blush type of writing takes practice and maybe a little innate talent (no telling, there), but there's nothing to say you can't do it just for fun. You don't even have to share it if you don't want to. :)

Honestly, I would have liked a "can I really trust you?" type scenario.  Obviously, though, ME2!Kaidan trusts that Shepard is Shepard, that Shepard is working for Cerberus, and even that Shepard is doing things for the right reasons.  So... questionmark?

If I can actually put words down for people to look at anyone can, it was 20 years since I did any creative writing before I started writing fic.

Write it up and ask for a few beta readers, I've abused many of the KAST folks over the last few months.

I wish someone would tell me what they thought about my fic, since it has been up for days, with over 50 views and no reviews.
Also that was not a subtle hint to do anything.

But now having done Horizon, the neutral options do come off the best. But ouch renegade is mean here, put paragon wise Kaidan is mean.

i have had your ff up all day, but am trying to put the child to bed. excuses, excuses, i know. ;)

re: horizon options. the one i cannot stand is Shep, actually, that 2nd paragon option: "I never meant to hurt you."  it makes NO FRICKIN' SENSE. "I can see you moved on."

wha??? how? as in, "thinking you were dead tore me apart" etc. etc. clearly tells us that kaidan has moved on. that was the one point in the game i just thought, ya know, dialog fail, right there. that makes no sense.

i think i chose paragon (how you doin'?), neutral (i was freaking DEAD), renegade (i don't F-ing work for Cerberus), paragon (hey! you know i'm not a terrorist, right? right?) neutral (omg, you're not going to listen to me?) in the end. i liked that path

You're pretty much lying at that point in time if you say you're not working with Cerberus. :wizard:

On another unrelated note, does the opening sequence with the Normandy, the part where you first start floating off into space right after sending off Joker's pod.... It looks like if you play as a male, it looks... better.
The graphics or something when it's focusing on Shepard. I dunno, maybe it's just me trying to find something new to scratch my head about :?

you actually say you're working with them but not taking their orders.

actually:

"Cerberus and I happen to want the same thing,: to save our colonies. But that doesn't mean I answer to them."

Shepard isn't allowed to go anywhere unless she speaks to TIM and does whatever he wants first.

When he outright lies to her about Liara working for the Shadow Broker, she never calls him on it.

She is never allowed to ask him about Akuze, Kahoku, or Jack.

When he sends her into a trap on the Derelict Reaper, she gets over it, and continues to follow his orders.

She can claim that things are different after blowing up the Collector Base, but seriously, she can't even move the ship without his say so.  Shepard is totally in denial.  :crying:

Horizon worked for me...as a player.

For my Shepard and Kaidan, it was badly written, out of character, and horrible in so many ways. But as a player, it messed with me in a good way.

In the beginning of the game it was like, “I hate Cerberus. I hate that my Shepard is being forced to work with them.” Then the game goes on just a little more and it's Joker and Chakwas and you think, “Well, they're here, too.” And you meet Ken and Gabby and good people who are there to support you. And it's less about working for Cerberus and more about working for you and working for the good of the galaxy. You're just around so many supportive people who happen to be attached to Cerberus but just because of Shepard and the mission.

And at this point, I'm still hitting the, “I don't work for Cerberus/I don't like Cerberus” options every time I see them, but as a player I'm feeling more like one of the npc's that is along for the ride. Or it may have even made me feel a little of the frustrations Shepard would be feeling. I'm going through the motions of hating Cerberus but still doing everything they say, too. Although Shepard actually SHOULD have found another way.

Then Horizon hits and I realize I fell into this trap. I as a player ate up all their npc propaganda and needed to be reminded of how much I hate Cerberus. Kaidan is that reminder. He acts how I felt at the beginning of the game before Cerberus wore me down.

For the characters, I hate Shepard in Horizon. And I'm one of those that feels Kaidan was completely justified in how he reacted and I don't resent him the tiniest little bit for turning away my Shepard. I love how fiery and passionate he is and the fact that he doesn't just follow Shepard like a sheep, blah blah all the usual reactions.

But as a player, I have this additional appreciation of him for reminding me how I felt at the beginning of the game and saying all those things that I said in the beginning but then got distracted away from. In subsequent playthroughs, Horizon stayed in my mind and I was able to keep my hatred of Cerberus going strong throughout it all, but Horizon served as a necessary tool to keep me emotionally engaged in my anti-Cerberusness.
