What does Kaidan think about Garrus? Vise versa? What would they agree on? What would they disagree on? What if Shepard romanced them both?

I think Kaidan would be a bit annoyed at saving the Collector base.  But the consequences cannot be greater than cheating, for cheating has been given an ultimatum with dire consequences... and saving the base has not. 

As for Garrus, I think that Kaidan would get along with Garrus, although he would probably disagree with the vigilant...ism?  (Is that really how it's spelled?)  Vigilantism.  They're both technologically inclined, though, so they do at least have some common ground.  I think that Kaidan would be more disappointed with a Shepard that romanced Garrus, and possibly Garrus as well, since they all know each other.  Particularly if they were all friends.

That's what I think, anyway.

It's hard for me to say on this because it's something that's been on my mind lately (for my own silly fic purposes). I think there is likely a mutual respect between the two, at least from ME1. They have inherent philisophical differences though (Garrus being more Renegade than Kaidan). 

I think the best I can come up with right now is that the mission comes first. For both of them.

(And I'm avoiding the romancing both part since I'm still waiting to see how that triangle plays out, courtesy of a certain Meghan)

@Batteries: Probably a better place than the Kaidan thread that you could have shared those pictures. Hate to be the topic police, but I seem to be channeling my angry Shep this morning - and well - it needed to be said.

I wonder if how he responds to Shepard will depend on how many things she does that he can't abide with.  So a faithful Shep who kept the base, perhaps he can work it out with.  But if she also cheated...

As far as Garrus goes, I don't think that the game is going to go into this much detail about differeing reactions to different lovers that Shep had.  But he would probably be conflicted about it (gee, Kaidan conflicted?   never)  I don't think that Garrus is someone Kaidan would usually try to befriend.  But Shepard has a way of bringing people together and I'm sure they had a commraderie in ME1
After reading so much of the ff, I can't help but agree that he's going to be jealous enough with the fact that Garrus stuck through the ME2 stuff with her when he walked away from her instead--romance or no.  But Kaidan can be reasonable--remember that he's the one Shepard goes to for logical evals.  He walked away.  He sent a message yes.  But it didn't re-establish any claims on her or give her certainty that he would take her back.  I think he'd be hurt that she wasn't as faithful as he had been but he'd be more understanding that she had turned to a friend for comfort.  He' probably be angry with Garrus for taking advantage of the situation.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but that does make a lot of sense.



I honestly doubt they're gonna put too much into the whole romance arcs in ME3 thing.  I mean, dynamics wise.  Alas.

What fanfiction is for, though, no?  Filling the gaps.

Good morning all!

As for the Collector's base, I think Kaidan wouldn't be happy at all with the idea of giving it to Cerberus. I have no idea how that would affect the next game, though, since real consequences never seem to be a concern for what seems to be major choices...

Regarding Garrus, I think he and Kaidan are both good people, who care about doing the right thing, but their methods are very different. I think they would have mutual respect, though, because they both care about Shepard, and their goals aren't that far apart. A love triangle confrontation between them would probably just be the two of them being sad and disappointed, without really addressing each other.

And Kaidan would never call Garrus a cuttlebone. I know that much.

 I find it interesting to see how different people interpret the same events which occurred in ME2. I also really enjoy all the stories where people are dealing with the after effect of the events in ME2. 

I'll be surprised if BW can come up with a resolution to the romances that are as satisfying as what we're seeing in fanfic.

In both my Shep's games, Kaidan and Garrus are pals since they went everywhere with both Meghan and Avery (and now Rachel). Their relationship with each other is entirely dependent upon Shepard and her relationship with them. They were friends in ME1, for both of my Shepards. Don't think they were THAT good of friends, because Shepard comes first, but certainly fairly close.



I think there's now a certain amount of animosity between them, no matter your relationship with either, simply because Kaidan knew, or had heard rumors of, Shepard being alive and didn't share.

I don't think its possible for BW to make the resolution as satisfying as ff--at least the Shenko ff.  Because their goal is a good game and good overall story.  The romance is a part of that but not the object.  For us, the object is more for Shep and Kaidan to live happily afterward.  If they have it possible for them to be both alive and with each other romantically, I will be happy.  Even happier if he proposes as part of the finale. 

the after ME2 is better in some ways, because we each get to resolve that fight and try to make it right.
It is interesting to see the interpretations, but sometimes its hard because there are still such heavy restrictions on Shep and Kaidan.  They can't be fully happy.

I find it interesting how some people have hinted in their stories at a growing interest by Garrus in Shepard despite the racial difference.

I have discovered that Catherine is a Wandering Shep as well.  Haven't written it though.  Will have to see if I have inspiration later.  *shrugs*

As a side note, for me the Kaidan/Garrus animosity is because Garrus was there, guarding her back, while Kaidan still thought the rumors were ludicrous and she was dead.  Interpretation = fun!
