i dunno. given horizon and his reaction to cerberus, i have a hard time seeing him be okay with that. i guess if it was the "here, take the base, i'm leaving" scenario. but given how his buddies got smoothied to make the reaper? i dunno, i'm saying a major persuasion there or he'd be pissed.

re: garrus: i take it that they're friendly and respectful. i can't remember the fic where i read it, but i remember seeing someone mention that kaidan went out of his way to talk to garrus b/c of vyrnus, like he deliberately didn't want to hold a grudge against turians. i feel like he'd trust garrus over wrex because the man was a cop. my take.

In both my Shep's games, Kaidan and Garrus are pals since they went everywhere with both Meghan and Avery (and now Rachel). Their relationship with each other is entirely dependent upon Shepard and her relationship with them. They were friends in ME1, for both of my Shepards. Don't think they were THAT good of friends, because Shepard comes first, but certainly fairly close.

I think there's now a certain amount of animosity between them, no matter your relationship with either, simply because Kaidan knew, or had heard rumors of, Shepard being alive and didn't share.

I have discovered that Catherine is a Wandering Shep as well.  Haven't written it though.  Will have to see if I have inspiration later.  *shrugs*

As a side note, for me the Kaidan/Garrus animosity is because Garrus was there, guarding her back, while Kaidan still thought the rumors were ludicrous and she was dead.  Interpretation = fun! 

Well, I was trying NOT to give too many spoilers away for aPoV....  There's still an elephant in the room for Avery's K & G.

I'm not sayin they'd get along right away... Garrus does still have that stick up his butt most of ME1 (the L2 conversation comes to mind), but Garrus puts his foot in his mouth with all the squaddies (the convo with Wrex comes to mind).  Kaidan's a pretty forgiving guy and I think by the end, they'd worked out their differences.

And to say again, Kaidan's an open minded and tolerant guy.  I think he'd do his best to get along with both crews.  Though I think Jacob would be a true test of his patience.  The whole leaving the Alliance for Cerberus, the personality conflicts with Kaidan's friend Garrus, the glory seeking... all would rub Kaidan the wrong way.

Interesting. I could see Jacob possibly criticizing the Alliance and that getting on Kaidan's nerves.

@Sage: Shepard and Alenko didn't strike me as particularly possessive in the first game. Getting used to each other, still not sure they're really involved, maybe a little jealous, but... *shrugs*

However, after she dies, and it all goes to hell, I'd think, once they ever get back together, that they'd both be much more possessive, and intent on grabbing as much of each other as they can (pun only sorta intended) since they know it could all go horribly wrong at any moment, and they don't want to regret any lost time again.

As previously mentioned, the underlying theme of Lost for Words is a big mutual shout of "mine!", so that does rather put my opinion in perspective, I'd guess.



eta: And what Sia said. Depends on the Shepard. Good answer to a lot of things, that.

Joker's opinion is suspect, because he probably annoyed Garrus with something he did.  Garrus has his own sense of humor, but I'd imagine he and Joker aren't always on the same wavelength.

As for possessiveness...I would say my Gwen Shepard was *trying* not to think of Kaidan "that way" before Ilos, because even if she wanted something with him, she had to be realistic.  I would have liked to see Kaidan react more to the Consort, and say something to Harkin about his remarks, but perhaps he was trying to be low key also.

After Ilos, they were trying to keep their relationship a secret, and wanted to keep things professional on board the Normandy, but I'd say they were definitely in love at that point. 

After Horizon, Gwen is sad and misses him, but is trying not to think about Kaidan until the mission is over.  She didn't like seeing the remark about the Citadel Doctor in his email, but is trying to stay objective.  Deep down inside, though, she has imagined doing physical harm to her...

Faith Shepard is eternally jealous and possessive. Kaidan takes things in stride with her but occasionally a possessive streak will rear its head. 

But she is without a doubt the more emotional half of the pair.

The only reason the line vaguely makes sense is the fact that Garrus puts his foot in his mouth in at least one of the elevator dialogues with each squadmate.  Wrex's "Go home, kid, before you learn something," and Kaidan's tolerant response to the L2 coments are what I'm thinking of.

I never saw Garrus as being uptight.  I was a bit surprised when Joker said that.

As to possessiveness...I didn't get the Asari Consort jealous look.  Kaidan and Kimbri hadn't really started the romance yet.  I'll have to try that next time--saving that mission for later.  This time around I did to the Liara/Kaidan showdown.  I'm sure there's a little jealousy thing there for him, but mostly its that he wants to know Shepard's intentions--if she's just jerking him around or not.  He was actually rather sweet after I picked him over Liara.  I think he'd keep his eye on Liara in her interactions with Kimbri afterward, though.
With Harkin, I'd have liked to see a reaction from him like Carth does on Tatooine.  But I think Sage's FF is right.  He would keep his place as subordinate and let Shepard handle it.

Kimbri's territorial in general.  So she'd be keeping her eyes on the women around on missions.  And making sure to be giving off Alpha female-type vibes to keep anyone from ideas about her Lieutenant.  Her gun and biotics help. 

After ME2, Kimbri fully intends to return for Kaidan whether he knows what he wants or not.  As I told Sage this morning, she doesn't hold anything the doctor on the Citadel for dating Kaidan when he was available.  But now she'd better back off if she knows what's good for her.
If he truly chose someone over her, though.  She'd put up a fight, to make sure that there was nothing left between them.  But she'd want him to be happy and wouldn't interfere further.

The dancing thing from this morning--I tried it at the beginning of the game and after Virmire.   I couldn't get Shepard, Kaidan, Ash, or Liara to dance.  Is it an Xbox thing?

Really interesting.  I have to wonder how many of the guys who voted for male love interests actually did the romances, or just voted in terms of popularity.  Not that they're not entitled to vote either way, but I'd be surprised if more guys than girls play opposite sex characters and do the romances.  In my experience, women are more open to that sort of thing, no matter their sexual orientation.
