F*ck.

Kaidan, is one of the most paragon male Li's I have seen in a Bw game, and that is refreshing. Others had good hearts, but they each had some moral gray issue with them. I also love Kaidan's personality, probably the best of the Male Li's . . .

As for Horizon . . . Kaidan is very principled, and in reality, I can see him shirking Shep off like that, but I also see Shepard actually trying to explain the actual scenario, (Oh, and greeting Shep with more than a hug >_>) rather than impassively watching the scene unfold, as if Shep is not actually in control.

OMG Michelle007 should totally write a fanfic about Miranda implanting a control chip. If only I had the skills . . . .

"Hey Kaidan.... how ya doin?"

There's a reason I don't bother writing what Meghan says on Horizon. IT'S LAME.

Okay, to be fair, she DOES say "Kaidan! It's been too long. How ya doin'"

...Not that that helps much.

That's what my Novinha did . . .she is angry with Kaidan, and left him, and romances Thane.  It's awful :(

Sigh, this makes me so sad, because your fanfic was one of the first Shenko fics I read, and I really loved your Shepard and Kaidan.  I take it personally when I hear that people moved on, or like other LIs better now, and I really, objectively, shouldn't.  ME2 *ought* to be one of my favorite games, but because Horizon, and not just my reaction to it, but other people's, colors my perception so much, it's hard for me to even enjoy the parts that have nothing to do with it.

I should forget about everything Mass Effect related until the next game comes out, and somebody can send me a message if Kaidan has a good role.  Posted Image

I liked Horizon. As crummy as Sheps dialogue was in that conversation, I thought it was definitely one of the better parts of the game.

Well, hopefully ME3 will have the correct squadmates, guys. They will put more effort into animations, at least. . . . and maybe even an apology about putting Kaidan in that wretched Phoenix armor >_>

Oh Shav, nobody likes Kaidan! Chris Priestley said so himself! :wizard:

Pessimism springs eternal :crying:

During the Superbowl uStream thing that the devs had, he made that comment. It's things like that (and all the other crap we've gotten from ME2) that makes me think that we'll get the short end of the stick again come ME3. After all, they'll always cater to the fan favorites and Kaidan isn't one of them.

I don't really get the "Kaidan isn't a fan favorite" talk. At least in this community (I mean all of the ME2 boards, not just this thread).
He has one of the most active threads on the boards and probably one of the most dedicated fanbases (vs all other characters' threads... I haven't been to the other forum about all other game related talk in a while) and a very large support group (KAAS). He does pretty well in most of the silly polls too, coming in 3rd or 4th usually behind Tali, Miranda, and Garrus. I know on the old forums no one ever talked about him, but I think since the release of ME2, there's a lot more Kaidin <3 going around.

Idk, maybe I'm way off base, but I just don't see how anyone who reguarly comes to these boards and participates in the ME community at all can ignore the attention Kaidan gets.

Yeah you know I'm really wondering where all this Kaidan love has come from. =S on the old boards I never got to talk about kaidan b/c there was never any thread or enough people interested. Its weird how hes getting so much love since Me2. Like what changed?

Kaidan is just awesome......I don't get why people compare him to Carth besides the VA....... while Carth had understandable trust issues, Kaidan is a military man- orders first, weather he likes them or not

As a plot device, having your old teammate turn their back on you during your time of need is interesting, and powerful, especially if you cared about that character.

Having the VIRMIRE SURVIVOR be that teammate is kind of cruel, and sadistic, because we were already forced to choose one of them, meaning we had to decide that the other one was not worth keeping around.  No loyalty missions, no upgrades to save them with.  And on top of that, Ashley and Kaidan have been maligned more than any other ME1 squadmate, because they were boring humans, and Ashley was a mean ole' racist Xtian who dared to like poetry, while Kaidan was a whiny boring, wimpy Carth clone.  How many times have we heard people wishing they could have killed both of them?

So, from a writers standpoint, I understand what they did with Horizon, but as a fan of the characters involved, I'm miserable and unable to enjoy ME2, and if the VS gets beaten down anymore in the next game, I'm done with this franchise, and possibly Bioware, which would be sad, but there's no other way for me to express my frustration except not buying their products.

People actually read that?

Well, I still have one more chapter to go, and  it's not going to go the way the game goes.  At all.  As pissed off as I am about ME2's Kaidan, with his lazy eye, Phoenix armor, and hatred of his lover and best friend . . . . I still have  a shrivel of foolish hope they will right everything in ME3 . . . .  so, I hope that helps.  I should just make a separate Shep for Thane, though.

I do actually like the virmire scene but it was depressing to only get that, while the email was nice I mean seriously is that it? I get cussed and a possible rekindle hinted at in text =/ I dont think it was really fair to the people who stayed true to their LI, esspecially because if you arent romancing your teamates they dont really want to talk to you after a point. but hopefully 3 will make up for that, by putting them on the team! and staying "faithful" having a nice impact

I lurked, but only long enough to find out I couldn't save both Ashley and Kaidan.

I understand why the VS can't join your team. We get it, they're important in ME3. But Horizon was pretty tasteless. >.> Well, if they said cheating will have a bad consequence, I'm going to assume staying faithful will be rewarded.

Having it be the VS makes most sense to me. They'd be the only dedicated Alliance soldier on your team, of course they'd lash out at Cerberus. But not having Kaidan in the game didn't ruin it for me. In fact, I enjoy ME2 just as much as ME1 if not more than the first one, but it's each to their own. I'll buy third game either way, I just wanna see the Reapers finished and any other tidbits they could give us more than I want to see any romance concluded. I do hope romances still get a nice ending though.

I never knew there were other boards, but then I'm very new to all this. Just bought the games about a month ago!

Another note, I did enjoy the combat a bit more in the second one.

I can't be pessimistic. It just ruins everything. Seeing the world through rose colored glasses works for me.

I was on the old forums and started the old Kaidan love thread.

There was a lot of hate back there. The forums were a smaller place and those that mentioned liking Kaidan were immediately shot down and trolled. Then there were others that were neutral to him and didn't bother discussing him. But everyone knew everyone too which is something you don't get here.

Honestly, I think that advertising the KAST and the KAAS in fanfic and fanart has helped everyone find a place to talk about Kaidan. Still, it's difficult to tell how many fans Kaidan really has vs other characters.
