I'm hoping there are more fans out there that we just don't know about. I mean, I only stumbled upon this place recently. Who knows, there could be many more Kaidan fans out there who just don't post here...

same here! I enjoy the combat system in ME2 way more than in ME1. I actually changed my gamecontrol settings for ME1 to the ones I use in ME2 because I have gotten so used to the left shift key to use the squad panel *rofl* The squad panel in combat is way more comfortable too, I think. It's smaller and easier to handle than the huge one in ME1.

Actually, I'm a noob as well. I started playing the first game at around June 6th or so. And now I've played through ME1 twice, and 4 times through ME2.

there are! Tali fans too. They don't post in here, don't even lurk. They just play the game and keep themselves updated via the Bioware site, or me lol

Two of my friends and my sister are Kaidan fans. They just simply do not post on game-forums boards, and usually count on me to keep them updated with any news concerning the game.

Having it be the VS makes most sense to me. They'd be the only dedicated Alliance soldier on your team, of course they'd lash out at Cerberus. But not having Kaidan in the game didn't ruin it for me. In fact, I enjoy ME2 just as much as ME1 if not more than the first one, but it's each to their own. I'll buy third game either way, I just wanna see the Reapers finished and any other tidbits they could give us more than I want to see any romance concluded. Kaidan was the first video game love interest I was at all interested in; and a screenshot of him and Joker with a caption saying that he was FemShep's love interest was why I bought the first game at all.  I had had no interest in what looked like a sci-fi shooter where you could only play as a dude, since I'm a diehard traditional Western Fantasy RPG fan.  So while I know that it doesn't matter to everyone, it matters to me.

And feeling like I have to defend the Horizon scene almost every day in this thread gets so old.  Why do we have to do it at all?  There were many ways in which the Virmire Survivor could have been written out of the main plot of this game, without making them into even MORE of a target of hate and derision. 

Why am I more invested emotionally in a character than the people who are writing him?  It's frustrating and depressing.  Which is why part of me wants to quit caring now, before I get more disappointed when ME3 comes out.

I remeber that, I joind on those pretty late, but the Kaidan thread there had just got going when I signed up there. So it's difficult to tell, yes. But if you judge by sheer number of posts in these threads vs. all other characters, Kaidan is 2nd behind Tali! So in this community, I think i would definitely call Kaidan a "fan favorite."  (I just searched all the char. support threads. )

It's frustrating because they don't seem to have assigned writers for each character.  So, no writers get too attached at any one time.  Seems to be an odd way to go about it.  TVs and movies and other games don't do it that way...

yeah its took me a while to start posting in here, in fact I think today is the most Ive said apart from like one or two other posts weeks back maybe.
I guess for me, I werent really posting because there werent that much to say, and reading was interesting anyway. I dont think I ever tend to post much, I only joined this new forum recently aswell so.

I'm wondering if with Kaidan alot of people do like him but just not love, so they prefer to spend their time talking about the favourites...just guessing who knows

OT . . . but Sky was mine . . . . omg  Kaidan was my second, and Liara third.  Those three will always have a special place in my heart.  For reelz.

i have noticed this trend that thane peeps are often artists... am i wrong in that? it's like, deviant art is filled with thane - mebbe because he's so pretty?

one sadness to me is that occasionally human faces look wonky in ME. you *know* what a human face is supposed to look like, so when it looks wrong (sheploo smile, anyone?) it looks REALLY wrong. a turian or drell or whatever can't look quite so weird because you don't know what it's *supposed* to look like.

i find garrus and thane never look bad because they always looks like...them. but kaidan occasionally looks odd because certain camera angles make his hair appear all lumpy or his face off. the post-virmire moment when he's looking at shep his nose looks odd. his eyes cross on horizon for a moment. it's little things like that which sort of upset the "dang, he's hot" animation of the character. the aliens just sort of always look cool because they never appear not real.

my opinion anyhow.

Don't forget that femShep's right eye (stage right, left when you are looking at it) gets all winky in both games at times.

(1)Nice guys are VERY underrated. 

(2) So, something else I've been wondering... Considering the man's a biotic (and I think the majority of us play some sort of biotic), where would your Shep take Kaidan for dinner? All-you-can-eat Chinese Buffet? The 2185 equivalent of Olive Garden or Outback?

(1)  I agree.  Look at the characters that are always dumped on by male gamers--Carth, Alistair, Kaidan.  Again, guys--buy a clue!  This is what women like.  (I'll stop there before I start in with mean generalizations...)

(2)  Shepard would have to take him out?  I would think he'd be a little more old fashioned than that.  But in the spirit of the question...He kinda strikes me as a meat and potatoes kinda guy.  Although I would think that he would be a good veggie eater, too.  But they would likely go somewhere that has a dark corner so as to avoid unnecessary publicity.

And if future Vegas is anything like today's, I can see Kaidan being a frequent visitor.

For the gambling, shows, clubs, drinking, etc?  No.  For the buffets, of course!

Actually, since Vegas has changed ownership from mob to non-mob those cheap buffetts and such are a thing of the past.
