In all reality, the date probably sucked.  His first practice date and still hung up on his dead girlfriend.  Probably wasn't too fun for the poor doctor.

But still...now Sheps back and the doctor needs to keep her hands to herself.

And her (Lisa's) e-mails too--yeah, I'm talking to you, Sage!

I mean, in a metagaming sense I'm glad he didn't move on because he's MINE, damnit!   But in-world, I'd be sad that he was having such a difficult time letting go of something that wasn't his fault.

Whats funny was that Alistair only new the PC for one day before DSC went AU.



If Kaidan had already started dating and trying to rebuild I doubt that Shep moving on would kill him. Although Ash I think took it far worse judging by Horizon.



Kaidan came off angry, while Ash comes off as betrayed. Also she gave no indication she moved on.

Could be me just mumbling but I can get, someone getting really close, but its unhealthy to pine after a dead lover/friend in the military for two years.

@ Giggles ... A couple of drinks is hardly more then a first step if you ask me, and the way he says it in the letter, it didn't sound like it went too well.

@ Sage... okay lady - if you and I are going to share a brain then I want Monday, Wednesday and Friday

but i need it tonight. hubby took the kid for the evening and i get to try and finish the email chapter. 

@ jade: don't worry. i think my citadel doctor is like the most weak-a** version there is. no threat there. but that's because of how i read the email (which...will...come...soon)

edit: @ onyx, ah, i see. yours was one of the few opinions in many threads that did not make me want to beat my head on a wall. as you see, i ended up here where there is civil conversation and lots of fan art.

I can vouch that two years is a minimum.  My brother's girlfriend, for example, took more like 4 or 5 after he died before she started seriously seeing anyone else.  (8 years on she's finally happily married and celebrating her first anniversary next month.)

I know, poor guy.  Esp considering the fact that many widowers or male divorcee's on average remarry after about 1 year.  It makes him especially special. 

And I agree.  The date was a first attempt at trying to regain a piece of sanity/normalcy.

@Sage:  no worries.  The doctor is so vague that there are a lot of interpretations open.  I like the stories where Shepard is nice to her for trying to give Kaidan some happiness.  Kimbri probably wouldn't be that open minded.  Again, the territorial female thing. 

@Josian:  Ah.  Men and women are different in the grieving thing, though. For some reason women stay single longer than the men (in divorce and loss of spouse).  *Shrugs*  learned that from teaching divorce recovery classes.

re: Kaidan, as i am in the middle of email stuffs, he actually says: 

I spent two years pulling myself
back together after you went down with the Normandy. It took me a
long time to get over my guilt for surviving and move on.

so, somewhat contradictory. the first sentence seems to be saying he spent two years grieving. shep's been back...what, 6 weeks? if that? so if you take it that he has truly "moved on", i take it that it must be in the last few months. very recent. it also makes the doctor date sound VERY recent - at least that's how i took it. again, he says when he saw shep, it was "pulling hard to port" like he's JUST getting back to a place where he *can* move on and then she completely derails that.

this is my take, anyhow. i have spent a long time poring over that email trying to glean it for clues....<--- is a dork.

I agree, Sage. I also read the same things into the e-mail regarding how recent this date was and where he was at in "moving on". I think a lot of people think the same thing too based on the ff I've read.

Regarding moving on, I don't think Kaidan ever did completely move on. He says as much himself: "I did move on. At least, I thought I did." Coupled with the line about "hard to port" it makes it pretty clear that Kaidan thought he was finally getting over it, or starting to, but then when he saw Shep again it became clear to him that he hadn't yet.

(By the way, I love the voice acting on that "At least I thought I did")

by the way, i'm realizing that while i assumed the citadel doctor was a woman, it actually doesn't say that in the email. just says doctor.

someone could do a wicked fic on a MALE doctor....

aww I just finished Noveria and I'm killing time on side quests because I DON'T wanna get to Virmire yet. I just talk to the Captain, talk to Dr. Cohen, make cure in quarantine, talk to Han Olar, back to Dr. Cohen, get maintenance pass, kill Benezia, hot labs to purge, back on tram. I never tried to skip Dr. Cohen so dunno if that would make it faster or not.

Ignore the watchdog protocol warning and just plow through. Don't bother stopping to talk to people and don't do the neutron purge.

Sometimes I just open that door and kill all those guards inside without going through all that... Makes everyone with a gun hostile but it's faster!
