I rather thought the problem with the going OT was not that the discussions weren't interesting but rather that BioWare is both twitchy and watching.

I don't have a problem with people needing to stay on topic. I just disagree with what some people think qualifies as off topic.

I don't hate rhana, she's in the past and the citadel doctor was nothing serious and I get the feeling that his drinks with her was something recent. Lilith got more quality time with Kaidan than shep did on Horizon, so she's a problem, lmao (just joking- I only add this because when ever I say anything about Lilith it gets taken seriously).

I can honestly say that in a huge number of ME1 playthroughs, mainly as femShep but once or twice as Sheploo, I have never Virmired Kaidan. I just can't bring myself to do it. I never romanced anyone with my Sheploo though, and always romanced Kaidan with my femSheps.

As for Horizon the only real problem I have with that is Shepard's lame dialogue, lol

AAHH

Is it any good? I was thinking about trying to pick it up, I've read a few spoilers for it. Definitely didn't expect a few things I saw.

I felt bad that Shep just stood there with her mouth open looking at her melt.
I know most of it isn't serious, but it still made me twitch.

yeah but isn't this just paranoid? I mean, if they close the thread, someone will start a new one, yes?
Look at the Tali thread. 9000 something pages! Off and On topic all the time! so why be all wary?

Because they just closed the Tali thread for going off topic and picspam.

as for Kaidan's ex girlfriends: I don't really care about them. To my Shep they are not threat! She is confident enough. And that Doctor, oh well, if he has REALLY moved on, then she will have to as well, eventually. She's not the type of girl to dwell on a broken heart forever.

as for the DLC: I can't actually stress out how much I am looking forward to playing it. I mean, it's story related and after all, that's what makes the game for me interesting. It's not all about the characters for me. And of course, it's sad that the VS is not mentioned but so what? We can't just go insane about every word being said or not being said about some character in game, we care about. The entire Mass Effect universe is so complex, we should take a step back and think for a minute before keep on ranting about how pissed we are that OTHERS get their LI back while we have to wait. That's childish and doesn't get us anywhere. Patience is a virtue....oh god, look, this sentence coming from me

All we can do is sit and wait and hope that we get something to pass the time until ME3. And then hope again that we get more of the characters we care about in ME3.

As for toes being stepped on....ya know, I have to read statements in here how people would throw any other character out of the airlock just to get Kaidan back. Well, I'm sorry, I have more than one Shep! I would like to see more than only him back!

I was actually in a panic when I first saw the clip of the smoothy moment in the trailer cause I thought it was Ash which to me meant that I'd have to rescue Kaidan or he'd be smoothied.

I have to ask here too though, please keep any Retribution talk out of this thread. I'm still waiting for my copy and I'm trying to avoid ALL spoilers which is pretty hard thanks to the recent activity newsfeed on this forum

I sometimes think that he had another love after Rahna that got serious, heck maybe even thought about settling down, but ended up... ending very badly.
Maybe she died or cheated on him, something to just add onto his shoulders.

Why Rahna would be mentioned and not another chick... I am still working on that part. I have no idea. Or I just have a sick, sick mind that likes to think people suffered a lot in the past.

Because Rahna... Rhana... Rahna was like Shepard and Other Chick was not?

... I'm inclined to agree with you that he's probably been in at least one Serious Relationship before.  Presumably there have been other women, plural.  Now you have me curious about why none of them would have fallen into place.

Maybe Kaidan is too intense when it comes to being in love?

Or... maybe most women just don't like being groped?  ^_^

I think the problem is that we see so little of Kaidan in ME2 and what we see is accompanyied by crap dialogue and a cookie cutter Ash/Kaidan approach that could have been so much better.
As for throwing characters out of the airlock to get Kaidan back, once again much of that is said tongue in cheek and to underline how important his character is to some of us..  Hell I've had about 10 playthroughs of ME2 now and haven't lost a single member of my squad, so its not like I'm trying to kill any of them off, lol

@Jane
I know that some haven't read it yet and I wasn't about to post any spoilers as I hate spoilers myself. ;-)
That's why I didn't even go into what I thought was good about the book ;-)

I know i was tongue in cheek, yet the Vegetarian talk earlier was the same for example. It just seems to me as if some things are EXPECTED to be tongue in cheek and no one actually bothers to even think about IF their statements may ****** someon off while other things are taken way too seriously.

and yeah, I know Horizon sucked, but ME2 is a great game and makes up for a Horizon in more than one way! But for that it's necessary to let Kaidan go for a while and focus on the rest! And Shep does! B)

I think I love you.
(No ******, of course.)

But really though, you took the words out of my mouth exactly how I'd say it. I adore Kaidan, I really do, but I'm not going to let his role in the second game or third ruin my entire gameplay. I might be a bit 'that's it? well, that sucks. oh well. ONWARDS TO THE EDGE OF THE GALAXY!'
I'm sure he's going to be a squadmate and have a satisfactory conclusion to both character and romance. 'But maybe he won't' seems to really eat at people. I've even said myself more than once that if my keeping the base causes some sort of confrontation with him, I couldn't blame him for being angry, but at that point he's just going to have to get over it. Reapers come first, then if they go as bad as people think they will, I'll take Cerberus down if I can.
He'll either have to get behind me and stand by my side or step aside because my Shep will not let anyone in her way at that point, not even him.

I would make that dependant on the Shepard I am playing! My MainShep would make the decision to get Kaidan back, all other Sheps would have to see WHO they would have to sacrifice for that. I mean, if I have to decide, that still means, both characters are in the game, just not at the same time. And since I can play the game several times, I wouldn't be that much of a hard decision I think.

@fire - quite honestly I am one that would lose whichever member on my squad I have to to make room for Kaidan if it came down to it. there are a few that I would be glad to be rid off but a lot that it would be hard for me to see go. but I'd rather have Kaidan back, maybe thats just me.

I know a lot of people like ME2, I do too, I just don't think its as good as ME1, and for me ME1 had more replayablility. Once again thats just my opinion and we are all going to differ on that. I knew Kaidan only had a cameo before ME2 came out, I was just disappointed because I felt it could have been handled a lot better than it was. To me it seemed like the writers were deliberately trying to turn everyone against the VS and possibly use this as a reason not to include them in ME3.

Yes.  No visual or verbal cues.  Text-only communication is very difficult for the brain to process intent properly.  ;)

I think my Shepard is defective.  She never gets all gung ho about being the only person in the Galaxy capable of stopping the Reapers; she figures if push comes to shove, Kaidan can handle it without her.  <_<
