@ Kaidan's e-mail saying he had moved on: I agree with what was said. I think he was on the cusp of trying to live his life again. I don't think he had made it to "moved on" yet, but he was kinda talking himself into it--saying the words, hoping that they were true or that by thinking them, it would make them true.
I was thinking about this this morning. We tend to define things often by comparison. If we can't use other characters from ME or other games as a compare/contrast and no Horizon, what are we left with? "Hey, Kaidan has a nice butt."freelovefreeway wrote...
I realize this isn't a happy topic, and that it was left behind a few pages ago, but I'm going to bring it up again because I don't think it ended in a good way.
I think we might be getting into censorship a bit too much here...
In ME2, we have our initial Phoenix Armor scene, a little pre-Horizon Kaidan and Lilith scene, Horizon, an email, and then looking at the picture. Taking Horizon out of that...we don't exactly have much ME2 footage left to work with.
The Garrus conversation was a Garrus plus Kaidan conversation. Did it include Garrus? Yes. Did it also get people to talk about Kaidan's personality and analyze what we think his feelings and thoughts are? Yes. How is that a bad thing?
If we take out Kaidan-plus-anything-else...and we take our Horizon...and we take out any discussions about Kaidan that might cause some people to disagree with each other, then what does that leave us with?
Fanfic updates and friendly helloes between the nonlurkers? How is this supporting Kaidan? Should I bring up the fact that some people don't read fanfic? There seem to be enough people who are interested in fanfic to make it worthwhile to be a part of this thread. So maybe everyone should just accept that they don't need to respond to everything every one else says if they don't like the topic?
If a discussion includes other characters, good. The more extra stuff involved in the discussion, the more ways we are able to look at Kaidan and possibly find new things to think about him. And if the extra stuff is something like a dislike of Thane or Jacob, then anyone who wants to defend them should be able to in a non-Kaidan related defense—because the bashing was brought up in the original Kaidan discussion and if something is bashed, then something has the right to be defended.
Kaidan in relation to anything is a valid thing to bring up in this thread. Everyone should make attempts to stay in a Kaidan-like direction, but anything on the massive ban-this and ban-that scale just seems silly to me.
Can't we instead try to make sure that discussions about other characters are in relation/comparison to Kaidan. And that discussions are kept civilized? I think that would be better than banning whole topics.
Plus, we always have new people coming in here. They will want to talk about things that might be on the "banned" list because its new to them. And perhaps they would bring new insight into it.
@ FireEye about hating Kaidan ex's: I don't hold anything anything against his ex's per se. They are his past. We all have pasts. But if any were to return and try to re-establish a relatioship with him, then there would be a problem. The only problem I have with Rhana is that she hurt him when he was trying to be her White Knight--and almost got killed for it.
I think that he mentions Rhana because that was the closest he came to being in love in the past. In my own mind, he likely had some other relationships, but the women were likely attracted to him but a bit freaked out eventually with him being an L2 biotic and the relationship never went anywhere.
Lillith? I don't like how she looks at him. Obvious interest. Not that I can blame her, but Shep gets so little with him in ME2 and she gets to be friendly and trusted by him. So I guess its more envy for Shep than actual dislike of the character. I was mostly spoiler-free and didn't know if Kaidan had moved on or not. And the two felt so comfortable together. Yes. It felt threatening to the Shenko relationship. If Kaidan was truly over her and happy with Lillith (or the doctor), my Shepard would try not to interfere with it. But she also didn't shed any tears when Lillith got captured and when she turned into goo.

I was disappointed by the fact that Shep's 'friends' - Chakwas, Joker, Tali, Garrus never once bothered to ask Shep how she was doing after Horizon, which really annoyed me. In ME1 I felt Kaidan had Shep's back and was looking out for her, I never got this feeling from anyone in ME2. It seemed to be all about fixing everyone elses problems with no thought to how Shepard was feeling.
Regardless of the game, I tend to like having "magic" abilities.Alenko
Been reading a lot of fanfics and i noticed that quite a few of the writers have a femshep who is biotic and can relate to Kaidan more because of it.
So it got me thinking how you guys prefer to do the romance and what backgrounds and classes do you choose to play with. And do you think it effects how you see/feel about the romance.
In DA, my first character was the Mage (and an elf which bit her in the butt with Alistair later
So I picked the Adept class. My history that I picked, however, was colored by my experience with Alistair. I tried to pick as close to Kaidan since I knew Sbarge was the VA and so that had to be the LI for my character. So I picked the "spacer" history.
My second character is a Sentinel like Kaidan--I like having the overload ability.
I guess I"m more of a fight-from-a-distance kinda person.
After the fact, I like that they are both biotics. Kaidan seems to feel...ostrasized a bit by being a biotic. So he's probably be drawn to her just being another biotic in the Alliance like he is.
I know. But the thought still makes meKioux
And the doctor, I do belong to the group that didn't mind the doctor and Kaidan having a date. I wouldn't even have minded if there had been sex involved... especially since sex does work in the matter of stress relief and I think Kaidan had a lot of that after Shepard's death.
He says in ME that he doesn't take that sort of thing lightly and he says that the Citadel doctor wasn't anything serious. So it would be out of charcter for him. I think that bothers me more--that he's in so much pain that his principles change, than the actual sex.
EDIT: Uh oh. New page
Just 'cause he's so handsome in ME2 despite the fight:
