Haha, I think those people are all guys, or else they *just* went through Horizon.  It can make people temporarily insane.

They're mostly guys, probably, and are confused that loutish brutes aren't what most women are attracted to. Ah well. People will even complain about Alistair being whiny, clearly there's just no hope for some. All the more Kaidan for us, however! :3

Different girls are attracted to different guys, simple as that. But the way they went with Jacob's romance... it's too blunt, and out of character for 99% of Shepards. Plus he doesn't even seem interested to begin with.



Thane is sort of the mysterious one with the emotional baggage that some will probably want to fix.

Garrus is... clumsy I guess? Some find that cute. And obviously someone you can trust.

No need for a list of Kaidan traits, we know why we like him.

Jacob... Is mean to Tali (meet the AI thing), says Miranda deserves better, has an awkward body shape in many's opinion, Shep's dialogue... He seems reliable enough considering the circumstances, but that's all I can think of.



Just trying to get a sense of why anyone would be compelled to pick him, since the others have traits I can see people being drawn to.

What moved Kaidan from "nice guy" to "omg smexiest guy ever" was when he stood up for himself on Horizon.

He's partner material. Not someone who is with you because you're Shepard - the savior of the galaxy, etc.

EXACTLY. Your comment made me realize that as much as I was sad about Kaidan and Shep's only encounter on Horizon, I think I would have been annoyed if he had just run back to her and followed her around like a lost puppy. He obviously really loves her, still, but he's also a man of principle and integrity - which he is willing to compromise for no one. My hope is that in ME3, he will realize that in spite of Cerberus' reputation (which may be true), Shepard actually is doing the right thing, and that he will join her.

You know it's funny, a lot of people bash Kaidan for doing that in Horizon and I recall something David Gaider said about people who bashed Alistair on the Dragon Age forums.
People call Alistair a stooge, a weakling, a follower, etc. then at a pivotal moment in the plot those exact same people bash Alistair for not immediately falling into line with your decision.
It's the same with Kaidan. Oh Kaidan's whiny, oh he doesn't stand up for himself, oh he's not a man but when Kaidan says "I can't just blindly follow you" it's oh Kaidan's a douche for questioning me! Come on!

That's not to say it wouldn't have been better if Kaidan had more screen time after that but I'm speaking just of his behaviour in that scene.

Love this article... The clingy insecure nice guy is not what we're looking for at all. And it's not what Kaidan is.

Just wanted to pop in and say: I brough Kaiden with to Ilos/finale for the first time last night.  He pretty much broke my heart with that near-tears head shake he gave when Anderson tried to comfort him.

Made even more poignent by the Anderson/Alenco speculation.

I never played the game, but my reaction to the pic posted was "is that outfit denim???"  Even strippers would find that tacky.  I don't mind cleavage in moderation, but really.

I'm so happy that femShep wasn't "sexed up," even in her casual outfits.  I would have liked more choices, just because everything but the colonist outfit has Cerberus logos, and then that one has a horrible texture (my poor Shepard's neck apparently is really dirty ), but considering what we could have been given, I was pleased.

I just had a flashback to my EQ days, which was my first MMO in which my hubby suggested I play a wood elf druid, people used to line up to watch me do my corpse runs.
 
I think Shep would have removed all the Cerberus logos on her clothing. 

I wouldn’t mind a nice pair of jeans and a t-shirt for hanging around on the Normandy over the standard issue Cerberus garb.

Agreed. I'd love some basic jeans. Bet Kaidan'd look hot in them...

Most guys seem to want tough guys without emotions unless it's anger, and they're damned if they dare stand up for their principles if they differ from yours... Guess this explains why Dog is such a popular companion.
