I've been replaying ME1, and I was reminded about how Kaidan has been holding back on his true potential. That is probably why we don't see cut scenes of him showing off his biotics. Kaidan's for one, is not a show off and two, he's afraid to really let lose in ME1. He may grow to let go a bit over the course of ME1, but I don't think we've seen his full awesomeness yet.

I wonder if in the ME3 we're going to see him at his peak.

Edit: also, in relation to Shepard compared to Kaidan, Shepard has L5 biotic implants with engineer and adept, it's assumed sentinel would recieve L5 implants too just not as special as the other two. Shepard may very well be tops in the biotic tree amongst everyone.

:o

But yeah, I agree. He's not showy about his biotics and I do wonder how much stronger he's gotten since he's let go of some of his control.

I knew, I knew someone was going to twist that last part. But I posted it anyways for the lulz.

Or if he's clamped back down on it because of Shepard dying?

That would sadden me greatly. As I've been waiting patiently from the start to see him really kick some ass at some point.

However, I don't think he would because I can't see any way he'd relate Shepards death to being his fault in relation to his biotics.

Been reading a lot of fanfics and i noticed that quite a few of the writers have a femshep who is biotic and can relate to Kaidan more because of it.

So it got me thinking how you guys prefer to do the romance and what backgrounds and classes do you choose to play with. And do you think it effects how you see/feel about the romance.

Oooh! I noticed this too! I've read it so many times, it gets hard to separate stories. And sometimes I feel like it's some plot device to give them common ground, not to say that you guys aren't talented or creative! I LOVE reading all the Shep/Kaidan fanfic and I think all of them are great. But it does kinda get confusing reading the same background everytime or scenes with them using their biotics together or relating to each other just because of biotics. Sometimes I have to go back and re-read to make sure what I think happened actually happened in the story I'm reading lol

I guess it's just an option people like to explore. I mean, c'mon, biotics are really fun! And they add a whole new element to the story, because the characteristics of the biotic are so unique!

BUT I like to play as a solider with the sole survivor background (although this bg gets done a lot as well). And I like to pair him up with the War Hero one too. My Shep isn't a tech either. I guess I like having the "opposites attract" kind of thing where they don't have much in common other than the Alliance and similar ideals/morals (I usually play a paragon). I like to think of it as just a simple attraction to each other... and Shep can appreciate his unique abilites rather than a "Oh, you have biotics, you understand me" kind of thing. I guess I like to think of Shepard as super-human too. I mean, to accomplish everything she did w/o the power of biotics is pretty amazing. And it is supposed to be uncommon among humans...so it makes Kaidan that much more special! (Also, for battle purposes, I think it's more useful having him on the team if I'm not a copy of his own abilites.)

Again, I'm not trying to cheapen anyone's ideas or writing here! I think you all are very creative and have different syles of writing to make each story and Shep different and enjoyable! So, please, please, please don't take this as me trying to tear anyone down because they use a biotic Shep. I'm simply commenting on how often this comes up in fanfic. So keep the writing coming! No matter what background Shep is!

Kaidan fits with any Shep.

He is that awesome.

(I'm also fond of the Soldier!Shepard/Kaidan, but I go a little too far with it.)

Rather interesting since I'm wrapping up a ME1 Shepard right now. Currently running an Adept that'll either stay the same or go Vanguard in ME2

I prefer Earthborn/Sole Survivor mainly and my second favorite is earth/war hero for the oooo factor....Posted Image

My current Shep, Teddy understands what Kaidan is going through, and although not an L2 can understand the extra eating, the fatigue, and most importantly the stares and whispers that comes with being a biotic

There is a cutscene where Kaidan says that he has never seen and L3 spike as as high as Shepard but, you only get that with Sheploo. I do hope that in ME3 Shepard finally gets to tell Kaidan that she loves him. No more beating around the bush, no more crappy sayings like "You're a sweetheart Kaidan." I want to see my Shepard be a little more vunerable when it comes to Commander AlenkoPosted Image

O.k. I've finished my rant for now...So how is everyone doing tonight?

Insomnial.

Fortunately, there are distractions.  ^_^

Anyway.  Unless it were a fight you could lose and Game Over on, in any fight taking place within the bounds of the ME universe, Shepard would win because Shepard is Shepard.  From a theoretical perspective, I think Kaidan could win, particularly against certain Shepards or Shepards that refused to fight - but Kaidan might also refuse to fight ("commanding officer" excuse aside).

I actually got that dialogue with my single femShep as well.
Oddly, she was a Soldier with 1 pt in Lift as a special talent, and no inventory slot for an amp. But I got the line that L3 line from Kaidan.

While i like the idea of Shep being a biotic too, i think that with a different class you can allow for a more well rounded squad. But the great thing with fanfics is you can do whatever you like :D Yeah keep the writting coming guys. It makes the wait til ME3 more bearable. Speaking of ME3 how do you guys think Kaidan will come into play? And what do you think our reward for staying true to him will be? Better be something good, if Bioware know what's good for them :P

I prefer to play as an adept or vanguard, and if I should write an fanfic I might go for adept or engineer.

By the way I began replaying ME1 a few days ago, I had almost forgotten how nice it is to have Kaidan back on the team.

So far, I've gone through the game with Colonist/Sole Survivors.  Will play others, eventually.

There's allegedly a conversation about Kaidan vs. Shepard biotics, but I've not been able to trigger it.  <_<

Hearsay implies that Shepard is stronger to begin with, though.

I don't know how the L5 relates in strength to the L2.
I know that Shepard was orignally an L3 and that usually L3's are weaker than L2's.  But that in Shepard's case, his/her biotic strength is more than an L2/Kaidan's--and not because he held back.
I suspect since the L5 was a Cerberus thing and most of her body now has Cerberus tech in it, there may be a syngeristic effect which would make her more powerful than potentially any other biotic out there.

From watching Kaidan more in ME1 during the battles, he already kicks major butt.
But yeah.  Seeing him in at his full biotic potential in ME3.  I'd like that.

Morning everyone.

*Randomness On*

I am rather proud of an accidental word-creation. Over a cup of coffee I was talking to my ex about my hopes for ME3 and it resulted in: "I really hope that Kaidan will be rescrewtable... " Once again I will say: Hurray for smut and gutter thoughts!

*Randomness Off* Need so much more coffee...

And yes, seeing Kaidan as the Biotic God he should be in ME3 would be awesome.

Ah well.  Hopefully he gets a cutscene in ME3 that, based on Ashley as it may be, has nothing to do with dying.  Or if he has one based on Ashley that has to do with dying, hopefully he will have a cutscene in addition to that one.

Yeah.  Hopefully with the success and some acclaim that DA got for their sex scenes, BioWare won't be shy in ME3 about making a good make up sex scene.  ME2 love scenes from what I've watch on youtube were just lame--like they took a step back.  And our ME1 LI's deserve better.  Posted Image

Totally no Kaidan dying in ME3!!!
He will be invincible and rescrewtable and loving and caring and... just Kaidan! *sighs*

@Jade: Yes, I know. BW actually proved that they CAN make good love/sex scenes... was sad to see that there was so little effort for ME2.

I am totally in favor of invincible, rescrewtable, loving, caring, and uber!biotic Kaidan for ME3.

I just... don't have a lot of faith in BioWare; even when they have full creative control, they seem to enjoy pulling emotional gut punches on the players for the fun of it.  :crying:
