ah, i do believe once reading that the word "jack" has possibly the most differing meanings of any one word in the English language. i do not remember where i read that. to quote the family guy, "Are you sure you read that? Are you sure it wasn't...nothing?" i tend to pick up random factoids a lot.

anyhow, yes, dirty meanings, a name, to lift, as in a car, as in the child's toy - balls and jacks...even worse.

ahem.

changing the subject...

i think i'm going to stop now.

BW is making these decisions on buisness sense and that Ashley was too controversial and the 17 year old boys who make up the majority of the video game consumer base could not possibly wrap their head around the idea that women prefer a mature and reticent badass as opposed to a loud annoying bragart, then I could understand their exclusion.

by the way, chem, taking this from the poll thread. Mature and Reticent Badass is now my favorite description for Kaidan of ALL TIME.

I'm fairly certain that Kaidan would be mortified of this conversation at the moment.

Very much. He's a private guy.

I figure he'd generally like to have things clean and organized, but not to the extent that a little living in would put him off or be beyond him.

I agree, FireEye. Yet another reason why Kaidan is so my kind of guy: I'm the same way with my living space.

question:
1) What power of Kaidan's do you see as most defining to his personality? (Barrier, because he's cautious and keeps people out, Medicine because he tries to help people, etc.)

Neural shock or lift (he does have lift, right?) Because it incapicitates the enemy without killing them. Part of Kaidan's character was that he is cautious due to his experiences with Vrynnus. He's loosened up when ME1 begins and he learns about the Geth scouring the galaxy, but his patient manner is still there.

I dunno... it's been my experience that Kaidan sends enemies into the upper atmosphere with lift, which is generally pretty fatal for them.

At least... I think it was lift.

Popping in just to quote this. Indeed an awesome description of him. Can't even mention his name outside this thread without having people (mostly guys, surprise) say how boring he is. Mature = boring. Don't we all know that <_<

@fire - that's lift.  an enemy suspended in the air.

it's treacherous being a kaidan fan sometimes.  i've never understood why the male majority dislikes him.  you'd think guys would take a hint from a thread full of ladies.

I don't think the lack of popularity among male fans has to do with Kaidan being mature. I do like Kaidan partly for that, though. I think more than anything, it has to do with the relative lack of friendship with Kaidan for Male Shepards and that his stories about jump zero did not resonate with them.

Oh, yes. If you go out in the forums and say that you like Kaidan, liked ME1 better, or dislike either Garrus or Tali, expect to get flamed and trolled. That's the main reason why I stay here... we're the only sane ones left

well, i like garrus and tali - i just...like kaidan too/better.

was having a discussion with the hubby, who loved the character of kelly, and i was like "what? she's such a tramp, etc." then had to realize i was using almost the exact same not-nice logic in defaming her as i think many guys (though not all) hate kaidan:

both have bad same-sex friends-only dialog. both kaidan and kelly are good-looking, nice, and have no major angst you need to fix in them. both would be potential competition for members of the opposite sex.

obviously, differences abound. i just realized my reason for hating kelly was pretty unfair. is part of why i tried to work more sympathy to her into the fic. (though kyrie still hates shrinks)

... A t-shirt poll? Shouldn't Bioware already know to make a Tali and Garrus shirt off the bat? I think the fact they're the most popular characters in the game is a known fact. Sucks the VS got cut out, but I can understand why from the marketing perspective. Including Wrex too.

It's been addressed elsewhere, but it doesn't really make sense to those of us who just wanted a chance to show we care about Ashley and Kaidan.  I don't think anyone thought they would win the poll over Tali, Garrus and Legion.  We just wanted to be represented.  I really like Sagequeen's post on the subject:  http://social.biowar...94954/5#3298393  She says it all to the people who don't get why we're complaining.  Too bad most of the people who don't get it will never read her post, or if they do they won't comprehend it.  Posted Image

Ah...yeah. I'm not sure anyone was going to read it either. I hope the devs would, but...unlikely. I just posted follow up: i don't care if Tali's the most popular and they only make a Tali shirt. whatever. i have my n7 hoodie and that's what *I* wanted. but just...be fair, you know? don't forget ash and kaidan! *snuggles both*

okay, back to lurking and ffictioning. added a little jack to the last chapter which got posted last night. you won't get an update, but that last bit is new

edit: that's Jack as in subject zero, not...you know...

I get where you're coming from, but I can still see why all three of them were not there. It is a Mass Effect 2 shirt poll, and in that game, they are not major players. I voted for Legion since I think that could be a pretty cool looking shirt if they design it right. But I'm not going to buy it.
But yes, Bioware made me scratch my head when I read that "most people let Wrex die."

Seriously?

Liara was included too and she's not a major character either.
