In my mind, someone of mixed alignment is best for Garrus. I think being frustrated about red tape or rules would work well with Garrus.

On that note - how does everyone play their Kaidan romancing Shepards? What kind of Shepard do you think works best with him (if you think there is any particular kind)?

My Shepard is a mostly Paragon Spacer/War Hero.  Nicest and most sympathetic person to her friends and doesn't like collateral damage but she's hell on earth to anyone stupid enough to threaten her, her friends, or any innocents.  She had to prod Kaidan a bit to get him to loosen up about fraternization.

I think Kaidan works with any background. He can be renegaded so he can change to almost any viewpoint, except a Cerberus-sympathizer.



The Shepard that I rp is a self-loathing Earthborn/ruthless. She convinces Kaidan that the Council is inept and that they need to be somehow controlled. This isn't because of xenophobia; rather, it is from an observation that the Council seems to make light of multiple situations wherein action needed to be taken and they sat around picking their noses.

I should add to my earlier post that I agree Spacer and a Biotic class works well with Kaidan because it gives them two things in common. Which is why my main (and pretty much only well-defined) Shepard is a Spacer/War Hero Adept-gone-Sentinel in ME2.  But I think you could just as easily imagine the relationship with another type of Shepard.

I think a Paragon Spacer [Biotic class] with either War Hero or Sole Survivor or a Colonist/Earthborn with War Hero would probably be most compatible with him, as he is in the beginning.  Considering you can renegade him, and some might prefer that as character growth, there's no real limitation to the type of Shepard he would be "best" with.

Why do you leave out the Spacer background.  After Eden Prime, Kaidan seems to be able to relate to the fact that they are both military brats. 

I didn't.  Rather, I decided to add Colonist/Earthborn after the fact and didn't edit properly.  Spacer should come after "[Biotic class]".

I still wouldn't. I'd watch on youtube. Kaidan is it for my femShep. The ME2 LI's hold no interest beyond friendship. Now if Joker is an option in ME3 I'd have to make an entirely new Shepard for him but I've never been able to play a different femShep for more than five minutes because it's not 'me'.

I find Garrus and Thane quite interesting as LIs, but my Shepard has eyes only for Kaidan, so I watch the Garrus and Thane romances on YouTube.  (Refuse to even get the Paramour achievement in ME2.)  Yes, I am missing out in a sense.  But so is my Shepard, in the absence of Kaidan, so it's helping me to roleplay.  ;-)

Hmmm...that's a good point.  I think that they were only tracking the achievement.  Not whom you cheated upon.  So it shouldn't hurt Kaidan's reputation with BioWare

Kaidan --> Sbarge's voice --> Scorch (showing relation to Kaidan):  I started Republic Commando today.  Okay.  Is it a bad thing if I don't really care if my commando gets shot down because Scorch will then come over and heal me?
