Do I think Anderson might be helping you out "secretly" after a point? Yeah, I think that's the most possible.

Ash or Kaidan? I doubt it, but maybe.

The Alliance? Hell no. At least not as a whole.

I was more saying that I doubt the whole VS act on Horizon was an act.
I think they were geunily hurt, and peeved enough to not listen
I also was only indicating that the email leaves no hint as to them doing that.

Also Horizon is still a piece of Bantha Poodo.

Yep, I agree with you on that Giggles!

also agree. - with all of it. esp. the poodoo part.

first shep that met up with kaidan was non-romanced. was intending her for garrus. as i recall, no hug, none of the "i loved you" initial reaction of anger seemed to come out of NOWHERE. for that reason, i preferred the romanced angry kaidan. made a LOT more sense. i just don't see kaidan getting that angry at a superior officer (whether he/she is not anymore) even over Cerberus. loved one, heck yeah.

I think the non romanced one made more sense and I liked it much better. Posted Image

I think they wrote the Horizon scene primarily for Ashley. As was done for other scenes as well, it appears.

I think Horizon was written so as to not lock out ME2 LI for ME1 import PC's.

Shame on you!

I really liked Kaidan. He's got a level head to him and I will be excited to have him back on my Shepard's team. For whatever reason, though, they put more effort into Ashley content than Kaidan content. I noticed that a few scenes in the games seemed to have built around Ashley and then they transplanted Kaidan in.

1. After Eden Prime, all Shepards get to talk to Ashley about the mission. Male Shepards however cannot talk to Kaidan.

2. Before you land on Ilos, the Virmire Survivor gets panicky. I thought this was out of character for Kaidan. I've never had Kaidan die, but I heard that the dialog is exactly the same for both characters. I think Ashley would be far more likely to freak out.

3. At the start of Mass Effect 2, Kaidan & Liara wear Ashley's trademark phoenix armor.

4. Like #2, Horizon dialog is much more suited for Ashley than Kaidan.

Because nobody likes Kaidan, didn't you hear Evil Chris say so? :o
Ash was the first games poster girl, so boobs > abs, law of gaming today and beyond.

No really, I do really like Ash though. I need to import my femshep where I killed Kaidan and play through that one.

Agreed.  I don't think that even a romanced Kaidan would be as emotional and unable to listen to reason (at least with an audience right there) as he appears in the game.  He is very reserved, and has had the experience of being judged unfairly as an L2 biotic, so it would make sense for him to maybe have a moment of anger and doubt, and then ask for an explanation.  Ashley seems like more of a passionate, speak-first-regret-later type, at least when it comes to someone she loves...but even she would have hung around for more than a few minutes, and would have wanted Shepard to say more than he/she did.

Kaidan being an alternate version of Ashley in ME3 is one of my worst fears for the game.  Posted Image

I imagine they'll have similar but tweaked dialogue, but probably the same animations. They can't have too terribly different plots since they're thrown into the same pot.

however... i hate to say it, but i feel like kaidan has a much better chance of making it back as a LI and a starring role as he's the flip side of ashley's record, as it were. i know i may get some grief for saying so, but hey, you gotta admit, if they cut kaidan, they cut ash. i'd love to have some differences of char in there, but on the other hand, it does up the likelihood of kaidan being back in a big way.<_<

Hello Kaidan fans! Long time no see. Been playing ME1 again and got to talk with Kaidan again... I know this is blasphemy, but I kind of forget how good of a character he was. I really need to make a new femShep and romance the poor guy.

And I really hope the devs make good on the promise and "go all out" in ME3 and have drastically different scenes in terms of dialogue and such for Ash and Kaidan. I can't stand the possibility they'd make 'em interchangeable. They are two different types of personalities that would rarely react the exact same way.

Hey Kabby! Good to see you in here.

I agree 100%. Ash and Kaidan are foils of each other. To have them have the same lines is lazy and OOC for at least one of them. It also cheapens the experience of the first parts of the trilogy and the choices you make, knowing that it's not different at all.

Or it could end up like ME2 and sound out of character for both of them til the emails. Though after reading the posts above, maybe that is a hopeful sign. They deliberately tried to act a bit out of a character to force Shepard away. Then, had to at least try and let Shepard know they actually did still care with a more in character email.

Which would make sense if the "big consequences for cheaters" is true. It would be tragic and crushing for Ashley or Kaidan to have pushed Shepard away deliberately, still loving him or her, and having Shepard fall into someone else's arms. That would actually be quite poignant if true.

EDIT: hopefully they don't then sacrifice themselves to save the galaxay and leave a Shepard a long, heartfelt note telling her/him that they always loved them and Horizon was not how they ever felt.  I could see the epilogue of depression, alcoholism, and rage guilt for that.

That would suck if that is the case.

I can imagine Ash and Kaidan taking it very badly if that is the case.

Sigh discussions about love, duty, and loss always get me down.
