With that being said, hope my Kaidan wasn't one of the cold ones, since that's not what I was going for.

What, no exhortations for us to hurry up, Shenzi?
Sorry! Was getting my zucchini bread in the oven.
Of course I want the new story you guys are working.
I won’t be desperate for new fics however for another week or so after I manage to bring my fic that has suffered from the worst case of scope creep ever to a close. I blame it on all the people that left me reviews for each chapter early on (and not my own lack of planning!), you guys know who you are.
If I wasn’t writing with all my free time I’d be harassing you for chapters of aPoV and Loved too

Though I haven't been reading a lot of fic lately. I've been in quite the slump with writing and by extension, reading.

I see the opposite in a lot of fics; Shepard comes off as emotionless while Kaidan comes off as his normal self o.o

I think Kaidan is portrayed quite well in many fics, not cold but calm and logical. I think Shepard
might be one of the harder characters to write, because we are given a very
little insight in her thoughts and feelings, maybe because as players are supposed to fill
in for ourselves what our Shepard thinks and feels. But maybe this gets carried
into
the stories, making Shepard more emotionless. Like always I think
Shepard as a character would benefit from being asked what she feels
from time to time. It would give people a chance to define their Shepard
as a person.
Edit. something went really wrong with my post

And for anyone posting fic chapters today, it looks like ff.net is having issues again with posted chapters showing up and then disappearing.
I had that problem when I tried to read Exitus today. Was traumatic, especially since Sapphy had already mentioned it was a Kaidan chapter. Was so glad it worked eventually. Love sinvraal. <3

I may have been busy working in the kitchen all day but I had a definite squirrel moment when that update came in.

I had that happen last time, too. Hopefully the reason why I only got the two reviews.Shenzi wrote...

Hmmm...perhaps poor word choice again.Sialater wrote...
Problem is, rationality and logic come across as cold sometimes. And he's both.

We were talking about the problems between our Shepards and Kaidan. I know that's one of the things that sometimes makes me/Kimbri frustrated with the man. He always has to be so cautious, so logical. And the more involved he gets with Shepard in ME1, the more he seems so. He seems less guarded with her when the feelings aren't as strong. I mean, even before Ilos. He doesn't even come out and say what he's feeling--just "I've enjoyed serving under you." Shepard has to pull it out of him. And even then, he has to preface with "This can't change anything."
I guess its become one of those things about the character that I have a love/hate thing with.
Ugh. Can't can't finish my thought. got called back to do actual work at work...

I'm sticking with my introvert theory. He's personable on his own terms, but maybe his initial caution (and being a biotic) prevents other people from approaching him and getting past the quiet, professional side.
And a Kaidan.

Cold? I dunno. I always felt he was very warm. He's got a sense of humor about almost everything and he seems to be very excitable around Shepard, at least.

For the record: he doesn't say the 'This can't change anything' line if you use the renegade option to convince him to be with you.
Shepard: "Shut up and get over here."
Kaidan: *amused* "Careful, Commander, or else I might think you're abusing your authority."
I can understand his caution, though. He's very loyal to the marines and deliberately going against regs is a serious issue for him. He has to feeling a lot of trepidation about breaking the rules due to his own emotions.

... you know...

Say what you will about Shepard being awake, fully dressed, and watching Kaidan sleep, but suddenly I wonder where Kaidan's clothes are.
(... must be on the other side of the chair?...)
