The misquoting issue? Meh. Some people are going to be immature or jerks no matter what you do. They like stirring stuff up. *shrugs*
Yeah. I know. And that flashback chapter that you added really kinda laid it out--where he was coming from.sagequeen wrote...
getting caught up...
i see kaidan as distant - but not cold. that's what people - even shep, often - see him as, but he's not. he's an introvert, i think, but a social one. that's not easy to do, because you eventually hit a point where you just have to get some space and people often don't get that - especially if five minutes before you were talking and being normal and all. this is my take.
and considering that regs would hit him harder than shepard and force him to be transferred, he's in a really tough situation. just saying
Its just that he's a hard man to read. He accuses Shepard of that in the ESB (near-kiss) scene.
Hmm...its unlikely he learned much about being open from his father from the little we get of his history.
Don't mind me. I was just frustrated overall yesterday. And Carth therapy helped since you can actually fight and flirt with him at the same time.

People are chopping up our quotes? Really. *grumble* Well, that's annoying.

Apparently, not prefering the ME2 LIs over Kaidan is bashing.
Expressing why I like Kaidan, as opposed to any of the other LIs, is bashing.
Liking the way FemShep was portrayed in the ME1 romances in contrast to the way she initiates the ME2 romances, again, is bashing.
But fantasizing about your favored LI killing or beating up Kaidan? Wishing you could rub your new relationship into Kaidan's face? Calling Kaidan names? Sharing nasty comics about him? Those are just light hearted jokes! The characters in these games are not real! We are silly and dramatic and hypocritical if we take any offense!
...But we are personally attacking anyone who doesn't love Kaidan, if we express why we like him.
I guess we should feel complimented, that Kaidan fans are held to a higher standard of maturity than anyone else on these forums.

It the typical attitude that our culture has toward "tolerance." Tolerance's current connotation is that what "I" believe is sacred and "you" have to respect it. And its intolerant to get upset about "me" criticizing your POV. *rolls eyes*TeenZombie wrote...

I think overall we have a more matured population. Kaidan is in his 30's, he has a gentlemanly manner about him, perhaps that's why he appeals to women that are closer to...their sexual peak as it were. Not that he can't have appeal to other demographics (you know, because he's just awesome), but this is just something that I've noticed.

FFs made me feel so much better about Horizon. Gawd, when Alenko walked away I felt worse than when Alistair dumped me at the Landsmeet! Thank god for all the talented writers out there and their literary therapy!

I think it's rude to put hatin' posts in a thread supporting a particular NPC, but apart from that I think people should be able to character-bash to their heart's content (I know I've had a few chuckles over the 'but the priiize' memes out there). It's strange how heated people get.
I hadn't realised it but there *is* a higher standard of literacy in this thread! I guess Kaidan is the thinking girl's man. i dont no who the non-thinkin girl's love interest would b. id better not speculate incase i get hated on.

No...really....
In all seriousness, that I why I landed here out of the BW forums. - one half for the ah...subject matter, the other half for the company.
Also, re: Kaidan being cold, I just wanted to point out that someone who jokes with Ashley like Kaidan just can't be "cold" to my mind: "I could shoot something if you like."/"That's politics, chief." Also, the fact he can clearly get so concerned about Shep's situation, asking her about where she's coming from and expression worry about where she's going also does not strike me as cold. Sten in DA:O = cold. Kaidan = reserved, but it's clear he has a wicked sense of humor, he's just not showing it much.
Horizon is cold and the intro on the Normandy doesn't give us anything to go on - fitting the action, it's all business. As Kaidan comes running up to Shepard, he calls "Shepard!" (and I swear they mined that same sound bite for when you're on the Lazarus station, makes me jump every time I think I heard Kaidan calling), but when she stumbles and he turns to go, he says, "Commander." I'm sure they did that for the non-romanced case. So the last moment you have with him is kind of cooler.
At any rate, what happens between Ilos and Horizon is very much up for grabs, I think. What they gave to go on doesn't really show Kaidan suddenly got over his reticence, but maybe he did. Hm....perhaps I analyze these things too much. But sort of in my nature to dissect stories.

Sorry for the delay. One of the characters that is spoken by Zev's VA is one of the guards on the Purgatory. The one that watches the beating in the cell. I am quite sure that there are more - but that's the only one I can currently remember.
@Nik_Li:
I am not sure if this helps, but I seem to remember something about a rogue Cerberus cell - I think it was in connection with Jack and the experiments.
There is also a comment from Miranda that most cells are not aware of the others, but that seems to refer to the 'lower' paygrades only. I am pretty sure that TIM has an eye and knowledge on most of Cerberus cells.
As for people using quotes in the way they want - sadly, nothing new. Happens on forums, in real life, on TV, in the papers, news... wherever people can find something to use for their advantage. Usually that is based on them not finding decent arguments on their own. The problem with plateforms like this is, that you can't do much about it.
As for the bashing - it happened in this thread, it happened in the entire forum and it happens on the street and at the job. Two ways of dealing with it: let it pull you down or show them the finger and move on.
Overall, this thread has been very friendly and even if there have been small fights or disagreements, it is usually sorted out after a short while. So, I'd say - just stick around those you get along with. The others are not really worth the effort - just my point of view.
Now, if you excuse me - my coffee is calling my name and who would be to ignore that
P.S.: Ok, format is ok - but I apologize for grammar and typos... no reason my coffee calls me...

But there are lovely people in Garrus and Thane (and Liara) romance land, so I try to ignore the occasional unpleasantness between LI groups. Which gets less occasional as we get no more information to discuss, unfortunately, but that's a whole different issue.
@Sage: I think they left the relationship between Ilos/ME2 opening vague on purpose, so you each player could decide how serious it was, and thus how defining (and/or breaking) a moment Horizon would be.
And Miranda claims most of the really bad things Cerberus does were the result of rogue cells, most especially when referencing Jack. Which either means TIM is incompetent, or she starts the game living in the universe's largest denial bubble ever. ^_~

Chapter 13 is finally in 'betaing hands' ... not that I am 100% happy with it but I have to get it out of the way and thus, one step closer to more and better ideas. *tries to hide the impish grin* Poor Kai-Kai.
And I was finally able to make my reservation for the Beijing Duck dinner with my buddies. Really looking forward to it.
