Since I'll be there the whole week or rather the whole 4 days of GC, I'll try to see everything possible. If you have anything in particular what you'd really like to see, send me a PM and I'll add it to my list of things I need to visit/take pics of etc.

Good Morning All :)

Joisan wrote...

Actually, Jade. I have BOPC and the mod works just fine for me.

Heh, my favorite teasing Carth moment would have to be this:
Carth: Oh yeah? Well, listen, beautiful, I don't need to take this abuse; I get enough female Jedi bashing from Bastila, thank you very much.
PC: Admit it, you love the attention.
Carth: You think so? I could probably get the same kind of attention from a blaster rifle.
PC: Oh, I think there's things I can do that a blaster can't.
Carth: Now that I'd like to see. Or... would I? You've got my damn head on backwards, you know that?

I've said it before but I'll say it again: my favorite Kaidan/Shepard moment would have to be:
"Careful, Lieutenant; you'll distract me from saving the galaxy."
"It'll take care of itself one of these days... or nights."

Just a hint of that flirtatious playfulness that I so love about the KotOR relationships. Though with Kaidan and Shepard it would have been out of place... I guess what I'm saying is, Shenko is perfect for who those characters are and the Carth-femPC relationship is perfect for their characters. And I love them both to pieces.

Huh.  Perhaps my hubby put the mod in wrong?  Ah well.
And I love that quote from Carth as well.  And the one about him spanking her, too.
I could see if you are playing as a guy and you don't get all that fun conversation that Carth wouldn't be as interesting.  But I love the character for his passion and playfullness.  2nd best SW character ever.  (Mara Jade being #1)

The earlier part of that Kaidan/Shepard conversation is also good.  If you do the renegade option she says that he should watch out during his leave because he'll have his own personal stalker.  He tells her that he had hoped that they would take leave together.  Sorry, can't remember the precise wording.

@Teen:  I didn't see the Carth romance as being lesser than the Bastilla except in the lack of a kiss.  I never really liked Bastilla too much myself.  And Carth is so fun--especially when you push him (one of the fun ones goes something like...)
Carth:  "You really are a pain, you know that?"
Fem:  "That's rich coming from you."
(Carth with a hurt voice, hunched over) "Me?  What did I do?"
Fem:  "Where have you been?"

Lizard
So. Do you folks minds me asking a question.
Why do you like Kaidan?
Not trolling or anything, just curious.

First and foremost, Kaidan's character is just a good person.  He is always trying to do the right thing.  But he's not a drone to duty although he usually follows protocol.  He speaks his mind to his superior officer to help give guidance but does it respectfully.  And he will do what is right even when it conflicts with his duty.
He has morals.
He's a strong character and doesn't need anyone to fix him or to do something for him.  He never really asks anything of Shepard.  He's there to help and support his commander.
He's a paradox.  He's sweet and shy and gentle, yet he's this deadly kick-butt soldier.
The night before Ilos (well, and on Horizon in a different sense) you get to see his passionate side.  Its there, its just usually so carefully controlled most of the time.  I love that look of adoration in his eyes when he looks at Shepard in that scene.
Then there's the icing on the cake--his sexy voice, his brown eyes that sometimes show amber hues, his sweet little smiles, the body...

I couldn't find the right words in the morning, but that's the way I would describe him, too ^_^

Okay. I got 2 good explanations so far for why you girls live Kaidan. Isn't there anymore?

Also. Haven't read the thread, but I get a feeling that most in here don't like Lillith (Or whatever her name is) from Horizon.

@Lizardviking: I liked Lillith. She was actually nice to the Alliance rep on Horizon, unlike most of the rest of the colony. I felt bad when she got smoothied.

And, in basic terms, we like Kaidan because he's a nice, stable, romantic, kick-ass marine who supports his superior officer, has a sneaky-awesome sense of humor, and looks really good in his uniform. (He's a loyal friend and good back-up for a male-Shep or non-romanced femShep too.) Plus, he has a spectacular voice actor portraying him. Which two of those were the only ones you counted? ^_~

Not all of us here feel that way.
Its probably purely a jealousy thing for our Shepards.
At that point in the story, you don't know who this woman is.  I was so afraid that this was his new relationship on my first playthrough.  I was glad when she went down.  It wasn't anything personal.  She just was a potential rival for femShep and had to go.

Now we know that there isn't anything between them--at least on his side.  My more rational side can't blame the woman.  I mean who among us here wouldn't check him out?  Posted Image  But still, she obviously has had a nice working relationship with Kaidan and he tries to save her.  Our Shepards get a fight and him walking out on them.  Posted Image

I'm very alpha-female and territorial.  *shrugs*  Just how I'm built.  So I am gratified when Lillith gets smoothied.  I know its horrible of me, but I can't help it.

I'm not as invested as most here when it comes to Kaidan or his romance, but I like him because he's a profoundly good man who is also intelligent and reflective. He has issues, but he's dealing with them and doesn't need to be saved by the love of a good woman or any of that other nonsense. He doesn't rush off half-cocked or wear his heart on his sleeve. He's not an intellectual, but he is a very smart man who can put two and two together when it comes to the Council's motivations. He really does believe in everything represented by the Paragon path, but he isn't stupid about it.

He's not perfect.  He's only human.  I don't agree with some of the opinions he has--e.g. with major Kyle he didn't want to give him the hour and he doesn't agree with the decision to free the Rachni Queen (without the council approval)--both born out of his very conservative nature.
BUT I would say he's an ideal.

Instead of bashing Kaidan, Carth and Alistair these young guys playing these games should take the lesson of what women find attractive about the characters.  Posted Image

Hmm.... Why I spent most Saturdays and Sundays of the last three years flirting with a digital man while my real man was sound asleep.... I think everything jtav said sums it up.

It's also a very well-written romance. I role played roughly a dozen Shepards and they all adored him. And it's very hard getting Shepard number 12 to stay single.

Kaidan isn't perfect. Shepard isn't the only one who wants to shake him for being vague sometimes. He's also too much of an "company man" on occasion. I like that. It makes him human instead of a one-dimensional Mr. Perfect.

Why I Like Kaidan (a wall of text by TeenZombie)

As a player, I enjoy making characters who are "normal" people, by background, but kick behind and overcome odds because they are good at what they do.  Tragic backgrounds can be cool too, but I'm not interested in roleplaying half-demons, half-angels, "chosen ones", or the like.  A person who becomes great because they do great things, not because of what they are, is most interesting to me.

Thus, a character like Kaidan, who is "just" a soldier who is dedicated to his job, and loves what he does and does it well, is right up my alley.  Kaidan doesn't brag about his past, or complains about it, but he will tell you about Jump Zero to illustrate why he is worried about Shepard, and the status of the current mission.  He has always been reserved, and held back when it came to his powers as a biotic, but on this mission, when it really counts, he will give it everything he has.  He is also the most "paragon" party member in ME1, and I like to play do-gooders, and appreciate the fact that Kaidan is very stable, responsible, and decent.  Add to that some nice looking pixels and a great voice actor, and I was hooked in the first game.

For my main Shep, Kaidan was perfect, and though a part of me was resigned to the fact that one of the ME2 LIs might tempt me away, it just made sense for her to wait for him.  That my other Shepards have not taken a new lover is totally meta, my renegade Jayna Shepard would definitely sex up Jacob if I let her, purely as a booty call.  But I'm not getting the Paramour achievement anytime soon, so too bad for her.  *evil laugh*

Hmmm...that is something I forgot to put in my statement about him.
I do love that Kaidan is so idealistic.
Some of his comments/observation when you click on him are just so adorable because they are just so...sweet?  innocent?  Even a bit naieve despite his years of experience and what happened at BAaT.
At times it makes him seem much younger than his 32 years.

Its both too bad to see the loss of that in ME2 and probably also somewhat good for the character's growth overall.

Those reasons are why he seems to serve as a "moral compass" for Shepard in my mind.
For my Shepard she relies heavily on him in this regard in ME2 even despite his absence.  In the moral morass that Shepard is stuck in ME2, when Kimbri was unsure of what to do she would think of what Kaidan would advise and go with that.  His letter gave her hope and allowed her to hold him with her in her heart even in absentia.

I am uncomfortable with Shep using him as a moral compass, though. In real life, that's not the healthiest thing to do in a relationship.

Yeah, he was Catherine's emotional compass.  So not healthy.  Fun to play, but very messed up.

He isn't my current Shep's moral compass. She's a violent, nihilistic Sole Survivor. Kaidam is however, one of the few people she's nice to. I don't think she knows what she wants from him, but he's one of the few bright spots in a very dark world. Until ME2 when he drives home that she's working for people she hates. She'll completely lose it after that.

Depends on the relationship...a compass is a guide after all. If you're in a dilemma of choice and trust someone enough to help you make that decision, a moral compass is a good thing. It's what most children find in their parents, for good and bad.

However, if you're constantly using that person's decisions as your own, then no, it's not healthy. It's an excuse to dodge the responsibility of your own choice and actions.

Not like any Shepard is completely healthy.
And Kimbri does make her own decisions that differ from his opinions--like Major Kyle, the rachni queen, and she did not save the Council--she wanted all firepower to concentrate on Sovereign (nothing against the counsil).  But when she doesn't know which way to do things or if she is second guessing if she's being too directed by TIM's influence, she uses Kaidan/his memory as guidance.  His moral compass often points straight north.

@Kendall:  I can understand.  I didn't want to sacrifice Ash that first time through.  It made me feel ill to leave her there.  She really liked Ash--esp since my Shep and she shared a belief system.  But a decision had to be made.  Kimbri couldn't leave Kaidan and she could justify it to herself that it was the tactical thing to do.  But she didn't save him for that reason.
