My seven year old was watching me play ME2 the other day, and he told me we need to find Saren because he's still got Ashley.  Posted Image  But hey, we didn't see the body, so who's to say she didn't make it out, right???  (at least, that's what I'm letting him believe.)

Its one of those love/hate things I have with the games.  I love that they put decisions in there that make a difference to the story--not just cosmetic.  It makes the story so much more epic.
But I hate the idea of losing Ashely or Kaidan.

Teen:  That's sweet of your child.  But he's right--'cause in comic books if you don't see a body...and even if you do sometimes they still come back.

the Reapers might do some reusrection..wouldn't that be a palm in the face of Shepard and the Virmire survivor(they already feel guilty as it is)

Oh no!  Never even crossed my mind--that Ash would come back evil from Reaper indoctrination.  Posted Image

It has crossed my mind, actually. I've been reading comics too long.

Between comics and soap operas, I have been conditioned to never ever believe that characters are dead in fiction, even when you do see the bodies...

I really don't want to have to fight Indoctrinated Ashley, though...Posted Image

If the (now evil) non-VS could still be romanced, potentially turned or turn your Shepard.  That would be an interesting twist.

I wouldn't want to fight her, either. Leaving her behind on Virmire in one of my last playthroughs was hard enough. I wish there'd been a way to save both at some cost to my Shep. Posted Image

Serious lack of Kaidan on this page Posted Image

and I'd hate to fight indoctrinated Ashley but I would like the idea of having her back

I've always said that I support a "Project Asherus" to revive her.

Because I love her so much that an extremely cheesy plot device could not thwart my excitement at her return :)

@ teen: i'm so with you on your wall o' text. my own wall:

Things that are awesome in anyone:

*people who are mature, who know who they are and yet can respect where other people are coming from
*people who aren't afraid to tell you when they think you're wrong or perhaps about to go wrong, but give advice out of a desire to help, not lord it over you
*people who can get the job done, but don't need to take credit for it, people who are smart, but don't feel the need to brag about it
*people who watch out for others around them
*people who know when the rules are there for a reason, but can see why they might need to be bent or broken
*people who generally try to do the right thing, not because of some code or sense of needing to make up for a past mistake, but just because they want to do what's right
*people who can respect the hard decision, but try to always find the right way out

so add to that kaidan being cute, deadly in a fight, having interesting powers and having learned to deal with them as a matter of course, and shyly interested in shep and you have *ding ding ding!* a winner for an LI in my book.

i love other BW LIs, i do, but kaidan is just so dang *HUMAN* - as in, nothing really jaw-droppingly odd in his past, but he'd just...cool. like someone you'd be glad to have on your team.

for me, i'll be completely honest. in way, i think for the way femshep comes off in game, garrus is a better "fit" for her. before you strike me with the blasphemy rod, i'm just saying that for pure, unadulterated, in-your-face badassness, femshep and garrus seem like this perfect pair. i felt that from the very first, that they were sort of a match.

BUT for some reason, i love the fact that kaidan *doesn't* quite fit her - that he and femshep have some things in common, somethings not. i mean, this can totally go multiple ways depending on the femshep and how you role play it, but truly, i feel like garrus is more like who a matchmaker would set femshep up with. and somehow, i love pairing off shep and kaidan, because in a way they don't perfectly fit and they draw each other out of this shell. i felt like garrus doesn't really ever call femshep on her crap (of which, i felt like there is definitely moments where she is in the wrong), and kaidan does. it's like, kaidan and femshep sometimes bump into each other (sexually and metaphorically speaking) and that's what makes them this really interesting, awkward, real sort of relationship, rather than the pure fantasy of a perfect match.

my 2 cents and wall o' text, anyhow.

I agree with you, Sage.

Simply put, Kaidan is the guy next door. That's one thing about him that I've really liked. He's normally abnormal.

He's no match for my Shepard either lol. Luckily she has Kaidan and doesn't ever have to worry about it :)

My Shepards don't really have a perfect match, and I'm not that invested in any of the romances. I prefer shipping squad mates with each other, to be honest.

And this is the reason I always send Ash to the AA towers.  Because death without a body leads to media wiggle room.  XD

(although if they had done that, you probably would have fought whoever you left on Virmire at some point within the first game :()

Not like any Shepard is completely healthy.

Mine was, until Cerberus botched their resurrection attempt.

... also, does Kaidan really argue for killing the rachni queen?  Somehow I thought he was in favor of letting her live.  :?

And, heck, a Kaidan:

He didn't say to kill her, he just says that decision should've been left up to the council.

Kaidan doesn't really argue to kill the Rachni queen. He more argues that it's not really humanity's place to decide her fate. He would have preferred letting it be the Council's decision - but agrees with whatever Shepard decides ultimately since that's not really an option.

Okay, I remember that bit. I was thinking more on Noveria, I thought he was in favor not killing her outright. (which isn't quite the same thing and may be party-member fudgable, granted.)
