I think the Noveria thing depends on who you pick and what slot you put them in. Honestly, that was one of the things that ME1 had against it... squdamates changing their minds.

@fire - here you go:

Paragon path on Noveria:

Kaidan: Commander there's some old grudges in the galaxy. Grudges humans should stay out of. If we kill her, we kill the entire race.

Renegade path on Noveria:

Kaidan: Commander there's some old grudges in the galaxy. Grudges humans should stay out of. If we kill her, we kill the entire race.

Kaidan: Commander. Genocide is way beyond the scope of our mandate here.

Why do you like Kaidan?

sorry i'm late to the party but i've been busy.  he has many qualities i am fond of.  some have been referenced earlier.  however, i like his sense of humor.  his deadpan delivery never ceases to evoke a chuckle out of me.  also, he's kind, conscientious and a sounding board for shep.  he has opinions on the missions and will challenge the commander in a way that's informative instead of critical.  all in all, he's a well-rounded man without issues.  scars whether they are internal or external are our history.  he's dealt with his own in a mature way and shares those life experiences as a reminder of how you can overcome anything as long as you do what's right for yourself and refuse to cut corners.

thanks for asking and stopping by.  don't be a stranger.

I agree with most of what everyone else has said, (sense of humor etc) I especially like that he speaks his mind, not only to a superior officer but someone he likes. I assume many men would find any FemShep intimidating, so it is nice to see that he has enough self confidence not to be afraid of her.

And I like his foxy black hair.

@ sirus: yes, i forgot that one: kaidan's sense of humor. and i love how it's basically there as his way to making sense of things/coping with things/making light of things. he's not out to laugh at anyone's expense, just to try and see the absurdity in their bizarre situation

Gosh. I wish the devs would listen in on the conversation right now. Counterbalance the Kaidan nay-sayers.

And who doesn't love the whole "Salute anything you can't eat or kill!" exchange or most of Ash and Kaidan's banter? Posted Image

Ash brings out some of the best banter with Kaidan.  I love the two of them on the Citadel.

Yes, the first half of ME1 is probably my favourite. Their exchange in Chora's Den or overlooking the Citadel is priceless. I love to have these two in my squad.

Agree with that. They have so many great interactions on the Citadel.
"That your...professional opinion, sir?"

I don't know why, but I love it when the Normandy first docks at the Citadel (that wonderful theme!) and Shepard looks out the window with Ash...they just all seemed like friends at that part, not co-workers. Little things that count, I suppose. Ashley was the best at playfully provoking Kaidan, actually tore me up to choose between them.

But we know they don't assign one writer per character, or even a team, so... <_<

We talking about the NPC opinions?  It's a scale of agressiveness with the inclusion of some specific story elements.

I've found the more renegade character will give the negative response while the more paragon character will give you the more positive response, thus giving Shepard perfectly balanced shoulder angels.  There are exceptions.  For instance, take Ash and Wrex to Noveria and given Wrex's history with the rachni he'll WTF you if you set her free.  It's also the only combo that will get Ash to make her, "I don't want to meet my maker with this on my concious," line. Otherwise she's all about frying the bug.

I really didn't like that squad mates didn't just say their opinion in certain circumstances and instead had to be paragon or renegade. Considering Kaidan is the most "paragon" of the sliding scale (which surprised me considering Liara), though, it's not entirely unreasonable to guess that he would tend towards paragon decisions for the most part in actuality.

Yeah, I did a double take when I had Kai Kai and Liara and she was the one who was like, "Screw the council."  Guess it was foreshadowing her criminal days....

Nope, no.  I change my mind.  Liara is still character derailment.

I noticed that in trying to get Kaidan to do the "Extranet fettish site" line on Noveria.  I tried with several combos and every one else always stole his line with their own until I finally brought Garrus along.  Then I finally got him to say it.
I wonder at the algorhythms that they created to determine which line gets said by whom.  Posted Image
