i, too, found that odd. also, it seemed like some characters got to have the "badass" lines and the others got the "derp, newbie" lines. on ilos, for example, one person gets to be the "who votes we take the tank into the creepy underground bunker" person and the other says, "don't let them get away!" one game, garrus got ALL the badass lines and kaidan sounded like this total newb in response. next game, kaidan was the one saying the badass, veteran soldier lines (including the tank line, and the delivery is hilarious) and garrus sounded like this rookie. it was just...strange. like total luck of the draw sometimes. it was why i never played with wrex in the party - kaidan always came off with the rookie lines.

I thought of this a while ago. Unfortunately, unless you muted the audio (and provided then that you could even change the subtitles), it would be along the lines of, "Kaidan suffered a major mental breakdown and is now acting very creepy-like."
And then there's Horizon to take into consideration. A tale of two Kaidans.
... and yet I still want to see Kaidan in Jack's place, storywise, though. With tweaking, to make it fit.

I think the Noveria thing depends on who you pick and what slot you put them in. Honestly, that was one of the things that ME1 had against it... squdamates changing their minds.
I wonder at the algorhythms that they created to determine which line gets said by whom.

it's a garrus/kaidan dialog, so i think i got it about every time. it always made me laugh. but then i had to go back and get liara so i could get the "rtfm" line from kaidan, too. i based a lot of my playthroughs out of what would get the best lines from kaidan.... hm.... yeah, i'm a dork.
incidentally, i think you can actually make an me2 face based on a code you can get from the face code database, then import it backwards into me1. takes a lot of the guesswork out of it.
