Yeah, Liara is all confused when Kaidan says to RTFM. It's so funny! I've only taken Liara twuce and both times I felt so bad.

it's a garrus/kaidan dialog, so i think i got it about every time. it always made me laugh. but then i had to go back and get liara so i could get the "rtfm" line from kaidan, too. i based a lot of my playthroughs out of what would get the best lines from kaidan.... hm.... yeah, i'm a dork.

incidentally, i think you can actually make an me2 face based on a code you can get from the face code database, then import it backwards into me1. takes a lot of the guesswork out of it.

I'll have to google how to import backwards or something... But you totally just made my day! I too despise creating faces in ME when I know I am just going to mess with them more in ME2. I never thought I could save the trouble.

*ALSO I had never heard the RTFM line until coming hear and then you-tubing it. I never take Liara with me. I just can't do it, knowing I'm going to kill her mother right in front of her. But the way he said it...

I prefer my Shepard to look how I see her in my head.  ...And as much fun as I generally find the face maker to be, it is currently driving me insane.

... I should have added that my Shepard would agree.  She wants to built a retirement home there.  Creepy burning cemetary planet; I doubt Kaidan would approve.

I forget the exact dialogue, but after Shepard responds to Mira, Kaidan says "It's always a good idea to RTFM." And Liara's like "what's that?"

Good question. Because it does bother me when I create an especially pale Shep with reddish hair, closer to my own looks. I feel she just doesn't look as good with Kaidan as some other more exotic Sheps. He does look good with blondes, and most darker haired Fems.

I personalize all my Shepards to the way I want for them to look. My canon is brown haired with grey eyes. She and Kaidan make an awesome couple, imo, but that wasn't what I was thinking when I created her.

new screenshot for reference. kyrie looks WAY too angelic with short hair. it's actually cracking me up atm.

i TOTALLY liked kyrie shep best because i thought she was a good fit for kaidan - both looks and just the sense of her personality as the game played out were the reason why. i gather that pale coloring would be rare in the future - i think this is referenced on the wiki - so i always felt like either she would be just some normal person or really striking. i tried to go for an average pretty face, but went for the blond route just cause it worked with the whole "valkyrie" scary ice queen thing. (well, and i'm fair, so...yeah)

anyhow, i went for what i thought femshep should look like and i thought she looked cute with kaidan. but he's cute enough to make up for anyone, really. even dudeshep, should it come to that...

i too, liked kaidan with a blond. but he also looks ridiculously good with akodo's marge shep, of whose character creating abilities, i am quite envious.

Now see, another reason to replay ME1...again....lol I really don't recall getting that line at all, or maybe I forgot. It's like when someone here pointed out there's an extra dialogue scene on Eden Prime behind the beacon spot I think. After running through Mass Effect billions of times, I didn't even know that either.
Though I have to admit I'm not the type that explores every little corner of a world, even if watching kaidan's behind while doing so is always a good reason

@Jho - watching Kaidan's behind is the best reason for exploring as much as you can, lmao. although its more likely that he's watching Shepard's.



I don't remember getting the RTFM line either, although after my first couple of playthroughs I tended to leave getting Liara till last. Plus everyone except for Kaidan and Garrus pretty much stay on the ship for the whole game in most of my playthroughs, lol

I've thought about this too. Ever since i seen the vid for the Jacob romance, i thought wouldn't this be better if it was Kaidan. And my mind is going into the gutter...yay!

No, not really. I usually make up little stories for my Shep and then create a face that fits with it.

I read through some threads and quite a few people seem to think that Ash/Kaidan actually sold Shepard out after his/her death, like here:

Aww, this was cute!  We need more Kasumi in fan fiction, I love her comments.  Also, I used to be a big Piers Anthony fan (twenty puns per page in the Xanth books just got to be too over the top for me after a while), so I appreciate the reference. 

As for replacing Jacob with Kaidan, do you really want to hear Jacob's lines come out of Kaidan's mouth?    That might be traumatizing.  Someone would also have to make Kaidan wear Jacob's outfit for the romance scene, and retexture the bare chest model.  I guess it's doable, but poor Kaidan, being forced to wear that weirdly shaped body (Jacob has no hips!)...I would want to see a game played with Shepard replaced by the Kaidan model.  Depending on who you romance, there could be some hilarious screenshot opportunities...

No.  I mean... yes, if it were implemented in the game itself, but I meant more my line of thought at seeing the ME2 trailer, where Jack wasn't fully revealed and I assumed (due to her biotic display) that she was Kaidan in a [laboratory/prison] somewhere.  I found it interesting and wanted to know more.

I guess I just have to rewrite ME2 from the ground up in my mind. 

I guess then he would have been in the party.  But Kaidan frozen?  Locked up in a prison?  No no no

The first one I tried to make look similar to me, but you know how that never works out right.
The second one I made a red head with shorter hair to be different from Kimbri.  I made her face cute but mature.  Oh and big lips--my hubby noticed that and speculated what all Kara would be doing to Kaidan with those kind of lips.

I think the contrast of fair complexion and blone and pale eyes are nice against Kaidan's tall dark and handsome looks.
I like red hair (have strawberry blonde myself--but that color in the game looks so off!) but I don't like the red in the game as much.  Probably in part because the Mercenery armor is my favorite and the dark red with her orangish red hair clash.

Those indentations of his hips just seem to have "Shepard's legs go here" written on them.

I find my pale black haired Shep look surprisely good blending into the whole game. Kaidan wouldn't be picky I think, Shepard is Shepard. Her personality goes first.

Yeah, my first Shepard was a pale red head, and my second was a dark skinned red head, so perhaps you can see where my general preferences lie...I made Gwen to be my paragon because there aren't many blondes in the game (or the Mass Effect universe, according to the books), and because it was something different for me (since I love red hair, lol). 

I've since thought that if Kaidan would have a "type", it would be women who look physically like Rahna, since she was his first crush.  She was Turkish, so I doubt she had blonde hair and blue eyes.  So Gwen is probably not the type of woman he's usually attracted to, but she's just that awesome that he couldn't help himself.
