So...I did my first pic of Kaidan, but I did a scene from Parallax, for fort. So it's in the "sekrit" thread in KAAS. I've been wavering between thinking it came out okay and wanting to completely redo it.
Kaidan's not sure what to think, too.

I was observing her face carefully yesterday during this scene and found... Nothing. Ice queen, dammit.

Not much went on over night.
I was reading Jilly's Lost for Words and she described Kaidan's face has having scars around his mouth. I asked her about it since I had only seen the one below his lower lip in some pics. She said to check out Sage's screen shots. I never saw that line-like one to the left on his lower lip--and is there a discoloration on that left side of his lower lip? Or is it just some lighting that gives it that effect.
Not that those things detract from his looks. They just add character.

I know some people think he looks more worn and older with the high res textures in ME2, but I agree with Jade about adding character. I would *love* to hear from the artists about the process that goes into creating the models and textures for characters like Ashley and Kaidan.

On Horizon, its sun lighting. Add that to the better res and the details are easier to see.
In that same interview podcast that I listened to the other day Christina (?) said that they put more effort into the dialogues being more visual in ME2--meaning that less is said in actual dialogue than traditionally in RPG games and more effort was being made for the characters to show what they were saying.
I could see that on Horizon--with Kaidan at least.

Yes. That story. I never really noticed those extra scars before--that they were from his fight with Vyrnus would make sense, but Kaidan's also had 10 or so years of military service under his belt. So they could have happened anytime.
Yeah, but judging from how faded they're supposed to be, it would have to have been from a long time ago for him.

Good morning.
You can add me to the list of people that really like Kaidan's appearance in ME2. Time has passed and he's been through a lot. You wouldn't expect him to look the same as in ME1.

In the above photo, it almost looks like the underlip and the left lower lip aren't two scars but perhaps one long scar.

The only time I saw Shep make any kind of face is when she first walks into the room and goes and looks at the pic. She looks kind of sad and then she kind of looks down. This picture I take it as "I'm going to get this collector business resolved and then it's off to find my Commander Alenko!"
Well that's just my two cents someone else may view it differently
P.S You take great pics Ako

Wow. Slow day.
Here's a photo:
'cause Kaidan can make even Pheonix armor look good.
it looks like he's bowling with that helmet.
1) Were you satisfied with Kaidan's romance before ME2 came out?
Other than wanting a final hug/kiss, after taking down Saren, yes. I really wanted a final encounter with the LI, but otherwise, I enjoyed it. By far the best VG LI ever, imo.
2) Would you be interested in a new male human LI in ME3 if the romance was handled differently?
In ME3, whatevers. If they add one, fine, but I won't really care. I'm just wanting a Kaidan-Shep reunion. I was really surprised that they didn't have a human LI in ME2 that was a serious contender for femshep. I was expecting a Thane type, only human - or like the Jack type but human - the really not-nice, not-boyscout type for the women who complained about Kaidan - like someone to "tempt" you away from Kaidan, you know? Jacob was sadly such a waste of an LI possibility. I've avoided talking to him beyond what's necessary this playthrough, and I like him. I keep thinking - aww...he's a nice guy. But I know if I have femsehp go talk to him, I will want to slap them both.
3) Did the Horizon scene change your perception of Kaidan (do you like him more/less now)?
Yes. It made me think of Kaidan as his own person more and less of Shepard's shadow. It also showed that for all his easygoing nature, he has a breaking point. I thought that was great characterization - and kind of sexy, too. I was really annoyed by the way you couldn't resolve anything though.
I can't say I like him more or less with the "maybe" at the end of the email. Totally like the chars in my fic, my final opinion cannot be formed until I see what happens in ME3. As of now, I like him...different, but about the same, if that makes sense.

I so wanted SOMETHING instead of that bizarre Shepard Standing in Orbit thing we got.

He IS a nice guy. But the romance is just... bizarre.

I think it gave us another side to his personality that we didn't get to see when he was our subordinate and just beginning the relationship.

Yeah. Even as heartbreaking as the encounter is, Kaidan is very sexy.sagequeen wrote...

I still would like a Paragon/Renegade action option in that scene. Or perhaps slap Shepard into saying something better than "how you doin'" *rolls eyes*
I think my Kimbri pretty much has ignored the "maybe." She just felt that was his confusion and lack of all of the facts. She's confident they can work things out.Sage

The part: Do you even remember that night before Ilos? That night meant everything to me
The last part of that always hits me hard--the everything especially does.
Sage: do you have or do you know approximately where that discussion or those photos of the networks of scars are located? And I like Jilly's idea of making a thread in KAAS for that--for easier reference

the discussion...um, pre page 2000. no clue where, exactly. on the pics, lemme see here... *digs them out*

^ best pic of all, i think, sadly lost rez when uploaded to webalbum.
*scar under lip, pretty deep that goes from upper left lip down slightly to the right (his right), then a smaller cut that's on the lip on the left side of his lip that crosses that and then there's a scar on his right cheek that follows the smile line.

^ other angle in same light, you can see them, and almost see the scar on his chin

^the scar on his chin is faint. you can only see it in certain light. here it's a little lighter than the rest, other scars less visible

^ the scars are all still there, although the one on his right cheek is less pronounced in the lighting on horizon. the lighting on the normandy blurs all of them at the beginning.
i think the reason he looks older is also partly because of the lighting, but i think largely the animation, too. it's much more subtle in me2, and took full advantage of the facial textures. in that last pic, all those lines were there, but they deepened the smile lines/dimples, etc, for the shot. i think it makes him look a little more like those wrinkles are settling in. he had those same bags under his eyes before, but they didn't get animated the same way and they didn't catch the light like that. he just looks...worn. makes kyrie want to hug him...

This one from your album seems to have a lot of scars. I wonder if its just the lighting.

And this one actually is a good one for detail of his hair:
