I'm probably missing out on some other amazing fanfic out there because it pains me to read Shepard paired with other LIs, but I'm really, really glad I didn't miss out on sinvraal's writing.

i have the same problem.  i strain my eyes trying to make out the slightest blemish.  then focus and unfocus.  reminds me of those 3-D posters from the early nineties i could never see.  anyway, to me kaidan's more handsome in me2 because of his aging.  imperfections are something i find very attractive and telling.

Definitely.
There a book series that I like call The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.  In the third book the protagonist is running her hands over her LI and thinks about all of the battle scars that he has.  She says how some people would see them as imperfections, but they weren't to her.  They were a map, a history of his life etched into his skin.
Same for Kaidan.  I think that Jilly's explanation that those scars are from Vyrnuus are as good an explanation as any.  So that will be my personal cannon.
I might have to word doodle about Kimbri noticing the many scars.

I liked her early two until the end of Onus.  I didn't like how the story ended.  I want happy endings.

In response to other parts of the thread:
I hadn't noticed Kaidan's scars before, but now that I do, it makes a lot of sense that they would be there. I might have to find a way of integrating that with my fanfic. 

I think also just added a couple more fics to my reading list. There goes my day!

I liked sinvraal's stuff.
It was "Architects" that I really hated how it ended up.  Too bad, too.  'Cause I really liked how well she wrote the rest of it.  The end made me feel rather ill.

I have to say, in general I don't really care for fanfiction, but Exitus is just great. I like the changing POV and the way it addresses a lot of the gaps in the story, as well as scenes that happen away from Shepard. Great stuff, I hope somebody at BioWare is reading it.

when i quoted your post to comment on kaidan's pout, the enlarged image was how i noticed the scar.  this entire time i've been squinting at the screenshots and all i had to do was click on them.  i'm incredibly stupid.

i think i mentioned this, but ONLY in the kaidan/femshep scene does shep face the camera. in other scenes, it's liara/ashley jumping shep. that's nice and all, but it makes me love the kaidan romance all the more. that little wink and grab is SO CUTE! on femshep. just like this one moment of breaking the commander persona. i know it's totally a result of them not bothering to make it femshep specific, but it just worked, imo.

Just watched it again on youtube. You're right. I can't see the wink, but she grabs his face/neck. Very take charge of her. i think it does fit right in with her character.
