Nothing cringe-worthy there, and certainly nothing like "waiting with bated breath"

My favorite version, though, is the one you get if you talk to him about it before Virmire.  Instead of "In the meantime, we save the galaxy" Shepard says, "Careful; you'll distract me from saving the galaxy."

That's when Kaidan says his line about "It'll take care of itself one of these days... or nights."

(Who me, obsessively memorize Kaidan's romance dialogue?  Never :P)

@Jade: Yes, I love Shepard's line, "That's it? After all we've been through? What are you afraid of?" It's exactly what I wanted to say to him at that point, as much as the alternative innuendo about "serving under" make me giggle like a teenager.

I am rather fond of Shepard and Kaidan's romance...I always find the majority of the lines lovely, I mean, anywhere else they'd be cheesy as heck. When Jennifer Hale does that thing with her voice when Shep flirts with Kaidan, especially the "you'll distract me from saving the galaxy"; I just love that. Now I wouldn't mind more banter/flirting like that in Mass Effect 3. I loved it. And don't worry about the memorising thing. Kaidan's speech to Shep, I think I could recite that word for word.

Yeah...I sorta wouldn't mind Kaiden back (I purposely killed Ashley) He is a good squadmate. I wish they would have explored a best friend option also. It's not a necessity, but the only people who feel constant are the LI and Garuss. Garuss and Kaiden are my brosephs!

FemSheps get "Yeah, I hear asari are into that kind of thing."  And he doesn't sound surprised.  ...at all.  :innocent:

I think the bated breath comment is in the third conversation somewhere.  *think, think* ... It's not around after the "I bet you say that to all your officers," line is it?  Because that seems to be the logical place where it'd be.

My memory is telling me that it's one of the ones right before the "I wanna follow through with this."  Which means "bated breath" is probably not there after all (the segue is slightly different than what you quoted, instead of "you're making me blush," I think it's, "Yeah, ever since I heard the Captain's mess gets better food-...")

this is how to get the renegade conversation sage mentioned earlier:

K:  This is almost over.  The Council won't be able to deny what we've found after this.

K:  Ash backed those salarians to the end.  And we still can't get any respect.

K:  If they don't want to do anything, they should get the hell out of our way.  It could only improve things if the Alliance was in charge.

S:  (They live in fantasyland.)  They don't want to deal with reality.  They want to believe the whole galaxy's as cautious as they are.  That no one can surpass their power.

K:  I hope they'll wake up after you pull their nuts out of the fire.

K:  Must be the same quality that kept you going after the raid on your colony.  (This line changes depending on Shep's background.)

K:  I don’t think I’ve ever met a woman like you.

S:  (Don’t forget it.)  Keep that in mind after this is over.  I will be tracking your shore leave, mister.

K:  I kind of hoped any shore leave would be joint.

K:  No bull, Shepard.  I wanna follow through with this.  It's tough keeping it separated from duty.  But when the mission's complete, it'll be different.
